Reverend ONeal Dozier, an African American Rick Santorum supporter from Florida, held a press conference Sunday calling upon Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to renounce his Mormon religion.
Mr. Doziers request is regarding several racially motivated passages in the Book of Mormon, that have been called out by other African American leaders previously in the race.
One verse in the Book of Mormon discusses the cursing the black African people, and Mr. Dozier also notes that their are prejudiced passages against Jews and Native Americans as well.
Romneys nomination would cause the erroneous view that has long existed in the minds of black people, that the Republican Party is prejudice to become a reality. Also, if Romney gets the nomination, President Obamas super pacs will educate the American people about his racist religion and he will probably lose to Obama, said Mr. Dozier in a press release.
Earlier in the primary race, Mr. Santorum made a campaign appearance at Pompano Beachs WorldWide Christian Center, where Mr. Dozier is the lead pastor.
During the week leading up to the Florida Republican primary election, Mr. Dozier told The Palm Beach Post that the American people will not vote for a Mormon to be president of the United States.
Mr. Romneys religion has had little impact on the primary race thus far. In states with large populations of Mormon voters, he has received the largest percentage of votes from Mormons. Thus, one could conclude his religion has been an advantage.
However, other religious figures have also criticized Mr. Romney for the passages in the Book of Mormon.
In January, Dr. Obery Hendricks a professor of Biblical Interpretation at the New York Theological Seminary, wrote an op-ed article in The Huffington Post making similar accusations against Mr. Romney.
What concerns me is this: the Book of Mormon, the book that Mitt Romney and all Mormons embrace as divinely revealed scripture that is more sacred, more true, and more inerrant than any other holy book on earth, declares that black people are cursed, said Mr. Hendricks in an MSNBC interview.
Mr. Romney has been the lone candidate not accused of making racist remarks against African American candidates in the race thus far though.
In contrast, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Mr. Santorum himself were issued open letters by the NAACP calling for them to retract statements associating African Americans with government welfare programs.
Furthermore, Mr. Romneys father, former Michigan Governor George Romney, was known as a vocal supporter of civil rights for African Americans.
Mr. Romney has not responded publicly to either Reverend Dozier or Mr. Hendricks comments about the racially charged Book of Mormon.
Going forward in the race, the Mormon factor will likely remain a resurfacing issue for Mr. Romney, especially if he wins the nomination and faces the nations first African American president.
Yawn.
Going after Obama for attending the sermons of an anti-American Black Nationalist is perfectly fair game. That’s not an attack on religion.

Then Going after Romney for attending the sermons of an anti-American White Supremist is perfectly fair game. That’s not an attack on religion.
He knows that.
He also knows that MORMONism cannot be successfully defended.
He knows that his life would change DRASTICally if he'd give in to his doubts of his chosen religion and accept the true JESUS.
He knows that MORMONs THRIVE on being the 'victim'; thus the CONTINUED emphasis on saying MORMON over MORMONism.
Thrashing and splashing about; making vain protests about exposing LDS heresy and focusing instead on merely earthly politics; makes for some really lame apologetics.
HMMmm...
When I read MY tea leaves; I got just the OPPOSITE take.
So why do you continue to bash people exposing mormonism.
Speak to the people with respect on the issues and you might have a lot of voters.
You mean like you speak to people with respect who expose mormonism?
What kind of religion IS yours??
MORMONism is a damnable heresy!!
Foisted upon the ignorant;
maintained by the deceived.
Election be DAMNED; man!
There are SOULS at stake here!
Oh?
Please tell us!
"Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the 'whore of Babylon'...
Good idea!
I'll try that with the Obama voters first to see if it works like you assume.
Youd rather be right than win.

I mention whats in the Bible
and what the Bible says contradicts what you said..
and you want me to lie so I can win ???
Silly
On the LORDs side Im right AND I win
LOL
'Fess up!
What is both of their names???
all you have to do is look...
Like African Americans in 2008 for Obama, Mormons have turned out in big numbers and voted overwhelmingly for Romney. In Nevada according to the LDS Church News almanac their members make up just under 7% of the population, yet 25% percent of those who voted in the caucus were members of the LDS. According to entrance polling 88% of them voted for Romney. Romney would have won Nevada without this vote, but it would have been dramatically closer.
A similar pattern played out last night in Arizona. In that state Mormons make up just under 6% of the population but 14% of these who voted in the primary. In Arizona 93 percent of the LDS vote went to Romney. Romney would still have narrowly won the state without the LDS vote, but it is likely the Mormon factor is why other candidates didnt even try to contest the state.

i believe the exit polling showed in some districts 98% of idaho voters identifying themselves as lds stating they voted for romney as well...do i need to look that up for you, or is it against your beliefs to read it?
HMMmm...
I've heard rumors there are FR folks like that...
Uh; that 'prophet' has spoken:
Up at reply #52.
aaaH...
is you gettin’ sweepy???
There was only one...
The other guy was riding his curelom and he couldnt reach down to the name Thompson so he accidently pressed Romney...
Oh well the bishop was pleased when he said he voted for Romney...
HEY !!! everyone lies in a TR interview...
He just left out the part that he wanted to vote for FRed...
;)
Explaining how Romney’s religion is a liability in the general election and how the Left can and will use it against him. Pointing out the liability is pragmatic and constructive; attacking Mormonism itself as a heresy, is not.
THX 1138
Haven't you noticed?
I DON'T CARE!
Remaining SILENT about this HERESY would 'alienate' my LORD!
Sorry; but mormonISM is the Bad Boy.
It fired the first shots,
And maintains the arrogance.
It is getting what it deserves.
If I am offending those with less of a will to fight; I can only state:
