In your rush to find something on which I may be incorrect, you completely missed the body and purpose of my post.
Nothing in your post to me was relevent to the thread of comments, nor to my post in particular.
It was a real head scratcher.
Kindergarten is in recess.
It wasn’t me that made it personal, as usual it was Mark, and I wass simply chiding him for doing it.
Just read the post to which I replied.
no humor tag at all....you chose a minute part of my small example to comment on. The undergroung economy in this country is probably close to the size of the actual economy.People are very constructive when it comes to making a buck!!
Sell corn in a roadside stand, salvage metal etc that you pick up free, run a little handyman business after work, fix your friends and neighbors cars after you leave the dealership, fill in as a part time bartender for a few "under the table" bucks, babysit, mow lawns, sell some art, do ironing or mending, sell drugs, sell sex, recieve and sell stolen property, embezzle funds from employer or group, the list of undercover money making escapades is endless and the one thing that all these MILLIONS of people have in common is.....they pay no taxes, and they spend all their money.
The guideline is that whenever one poster in a sidebar has been warned, all posters in the sidebar should consider themselves warned. This is based on the principle that two wrongs do not make a right.
A national sales tax would wipe out what is left of our economy. It would make most professional service oriented small businesses un-viable, and result in the loss of millions of jobs.
Not questioning how many wrongs make a ‘right,’ but you never seem to go for the instigator, only the original victim.
I post to the first one I see which is often the last one posted because the first thing I scan is the latest post list.
You realize, of course, how difficult it is to talk about why something that does not exist as opposed to something that does exist.
I am imagining that you are asking a "formula" question that is based on the Trinitarian formulation of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Is that correct?
If so, then I believe that the answer simply has to do with the revolutionary aspect of the realization that Jesus is the exact representation of of the very being of God.
That was a huge understanding given to the first Christians, and the language evolved to accomodate the revelation.
But, we do see something close in Hebrews:
Heb 1: 8 But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.
All I am trying to do is to make sure we confine our discussions to the facts. Every argument must begin with a valid premise. When false premises and strawmen are introduced it tarnishes any truth in the point you hope to make.
Peace be to you.
well written
One would need to know clearly what an idol is in order to be taken seriously when accusing others of idolatry.
Ustashi were scum, whether clergy or laity. There are sinners among us all. Would you say that there are no sinners among whichever sect of Christianity or non-Christianity of yours? Christians may be hideous, whether Christians in an Apostolic Church or outside, but that has no bearing on the light of Christianity.
God’s word adequately defines idols, and frames exactly what RCs worship.
Thus far you’ve been unable to clearly state what an idol is.
One would need to know clearly what an idol is in order to be taken seriously when accusing others of idolatry.
thanks for your reply.
Correction: you have been unable to see the words due to an accute Maryolatry attack.
God’s word is never the problem, but man’s interpretation, understanding and application.
You attempted one definition of an idol, but it failed on examination and applications. If you’d like to clarify or re-try, please do.
Assertions, insults are not helpful to your position here.
Do you believe your insults and false accusations are helpful?
God’s word needs no interpretation. He gave it to his elect in clear, plain language form. To attempt to setup a princely order that has the power of changing God’s word through “interpretation” is a large part of the sin of nicolaitanism.
The description of images and idols in God’s word exactly fits the use of statues, and images as practiced by the RC church. I know that it is hard to accept, but it is undeniable nevertheless.
If you feel that this message insults you, that is a creation of your own mind, not of my intent.
Thanks for your reply. I haven’t insulted nor accused you of anything except not clearly knowing what an idol is.
>>Gods word needs no interpretation.
It’s impossible not to interpret, it is necessary for knowledge and application. There is at least one level of interpretation before it even is read by you.
One interpretation says thou shalt not make “graven image, or any likeness of any thing”. If this is your interpretation also, then you need to explain a bit more, unless you have no “likeness of any thing” yourself. Is this the case.
Other translations have thou shalt not make “an idol...” in which case, again, one needs to know what an idol is.
Unless you can show you have a clear understanding and knowledge of what an idol is, your accusations of idolatry cannot be taken seriously.
Are you claiming the ability to inerrantly interpret Scripture?
Is this an ability possessed only by you or does anyone, including the members of the Magisterium, have this ability?
Where anyone differs from you on the interpretation, dogmas and doctrines of Christianity, whether the Catholic Church or the thousands of non-Catholic denominations, are they all wrong?
