WALTER KIRN'S column in GQ on Mitt Romney and Mormonism is to my mind far and away the most interesting meditation on the subject this campaign season. Unlike most commentators, Mr Kirn, who was an observant Mormon for a few years after his family converted to Mormonism when he was a teen...

...Mr Santorum obviously does not hesitate to argue for his favoured policies on narrowly sectarian grounds. In contrast, America's present wariness of Mormonism, which is indeed analogous to mid-century wariness of Catholicism, requires that Mr Romney argue his case on grounds acceptable to a relatively wide range of right-leaning types. Because Mr Romney cannot deploy straight-up Christian rhetoric without drawing unwanted attention to his faith, he compensates with a combination of twee sentimentality about family and a forced, almost hysterical American exceptionalism, both of which I think contribute to the widespread perception of Mr Romney's phoniness. Mr Kirn brings to our attention the possibility that it is a mistake to think that Mr Romney has struggled because of his perceived inauthenticity. Rather, Mr Romney has survived despite his Mormonism for many of the same reasons he seems a bit fake. A fully authentic Mitt Romney would be a frankly Mormon Mitt Romney, and that guy wouldn't stand a chance in a Republican primary

Romney hasn’t struggled at all because of his mormonism, in fact he has flourished because of it. Romney as been groomed for his run for president for decades, every door has been opened to him, within the lds corporation network.
Romney is who he is because of his mormonism not in spite of it.
I have seen some threads on FR, that seem to be written by some Media/news type, can't remember who. This suggests to me that, the media MUST BE reading from FR, you know they are to lazy to do any research on their own.
So in light of that I am so thankful for all these threads posted by those that know the truth about mormons and post the SOURCES. You go guys, good work. It is going to get very nasty for mormons IF Mitt is the nominee. So be it.
And besides that Willard is a flip-flopper and a big spender. We do not need that kind of president.
Don’t be labeled a MORMON.
Ditch cable...
If you have cable TV, there won’t be much on to watch.
If there isn’t much on to watch, you will answer your door whenever someone rings.
If you open your door, you will see mormons.
If you talk to mormons, they will trick you into “praying about whether something is true”.
If you rely on your feelings, you may become a mormon.
If you become a mormon, you will have to wear magic underwear!
If you wear magic underwear, people will immediately label you as a cultist.
DON’T be a cultist!

EXCELLANT!

And YOURS was MINE!!!

I agree with you're post. I just heard Joe Trippi on Fox say "Mitt's organization". Well, the elephant in Mitt's living room is that organization is built on the LDS temples membership whereever he is campaigning. It also explains his success in the caucus states. But, no Republican will talk about it.
Come November, the dems will talk about it. The elders won't be able to get them to stop talking about it. It will go on to show the wisdom of the phrase "More tears are shed over answered prayers than unanswered prayers."
