The bishops have long resisted calls from the faithful for action on "Catholic" charities, "Catholic" hospitals etc. Now it comes back to bite them. When they actually
need the support of these groups, they don't have it.
Years of episcopal weakness and inaction are now being punished.

You ain’t seen nothing yet.
0bama0 will again garner the overwhelming majority of Catholic votes in the elections.
Count on it.
Catholics are not afraid of church discipline, because it never happens.
Pelosi and Biden are still allowed to take communion in spite of having given the Church the single digit salute.

And I would simply note with regard to the bishops that they never supported health care reform to begin with Liar.
Part of the reasons the bishops are in a weak position is that they have been in bed with the evil one leading this country on health care reform.
Catholic Charities does good work but is essentially a branch of the federal government. IMHO it should be suppressed and replaced by a (much smaller) organization that is financed by the faithful and is true to the mission of the church.
The Catholic Health Association is an openly heretical organization led by an open heretic.

the Church needs to rein in....and I do mean, REIN IN on ANYBODY using the word “Catholic” who is not in agreement with basic Church doctrines. (the same way that you can’t just use the word “Olympics” or “Super Bowl” at your whim).
And yes, by that I do mean a threat of excommunication from Pope Benedict direct to Sister Mary Jane Hospital Association.

Those who don’t learn from history...
For centuries religious leaders have kowtowed to oppressive governments hoping for their liberties to be spared. The result is always the same.

Please give an objective, numerical definition of this term.54%. That is the percentage of the Catholic vote Obama got in 2008. While not "overwhelming majority", the poster is right that Obama will likely win a majority again. Perhaps not white Catholics, but the rapid growth of the Hispanic Catholic voting block will almost certain insure Hussein wins the Catholic vote yet again.

All of this reminds me that the Church thrives where it is persecuted, and vice versa.
I wish it didn’t have to be this way.
The coming persecution will purify and strengthen the Church.
About twenty years ago I was talking to a couple of old-school nuns, who were my friend’s aunts (it was fun to see them off-duty). They both told me that the Church would have to get smaller, and that We would be better off. Those old-school sisters were wise.

I don't agree with Rush on everything, but on Monday he was addressing this very subject and his point - as yours - was spot on!
The RCC (and most churches to be honest) in an effort to avoid pressure from the government and to offload some fiscal responsibility away from the church itself, bought into the "government giveaways are charity" charade! I mean if you look and listen to the PSA's on TV and the radio, you would think you were listening to some church group explaining how you can get support and help, etc... They try to make it "personal" - when government is not, can not, and SHOULD not be in a "personal" relationship with each and every one of us! They have jobs to do that does not include a personal relationship with each constituent - PERIOD!
Charity, especially church based charity, is about PERSONAL relationships and PERSONAL thought into the people and groups which you support.
Government handouts are about as much like charity as a patron in a strip club "making it rain!" They both give out money, but they are both looking for an advantage or an angle or a return on that investment!
Charity is about doing the right thing, because it is the right thing to do! Charity is about personally caring for a person! As my former Pastor used to say, "What good is it to fill the pockets of a person, if you leave him an empty soul?"

By no sane standards is 54% an overwhelming majority, regardless of the topic. Do try to avoid discrediting yourself by overstating your case.
the poster is right that Obama will likely win a majority again.
No ... the poster is neither right nor wrong. The poster has made a prediction; stated an opinion. So have you.
That's nice ...
But opinions are like noses.

I completely agree. It’s never too late but there’s a lot of work for the American bishops to do. They have already started cleaning out the seminaries. Now it’s time to stop being business men and start being shepherds.

Liar, is the kindest term one can use about Carney. Any visit to the USCCB website will show the Bishops support some form of health care reform. They withdrew their support for Obamacare because of concerns over abortion and artificial birth control.

But it will also help to spread the good news of the Gospel as well.
