I clicked on the link for the second installment about Humility & was informed the second thread was a duplicate of the Confusion thread. Is this true or is ‘someone’ >confused about the difference between Confusion & Humility?
I followed the link to the original article. Thank you for the link as it’s a good series of articles.

Let’s ask the moderators why Part 2 was pulled. I don’t think I made a mistake in posting it.

Beautiful!! Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. My daughter (then 6, now 14) and I took the baths at Lourdes on a Knights of Malta sponsored pilgrimage as she was a malade with a serious bone marrow disease.

Anyway I can tell you firsthand from serious prayer in the grotto that Mary really can help when one is confused/scared, etc.

PS - Regina is doing much better - her blood counts are lower than normal, but there is no doubt that it is the Blessed Mother who has effected her cure.

Hi Salvation!

I am always very up front on here about the fact that I am NOT Catholic, although I love my Catholic brothers and sisters and respect the Catholic Church.

I have a sincere question about these apparition. What does the Catholic Church teach or say the reason is for these? In other words, why do you only see visions/apparitions of Mary? Why nothing from St. Peter or even Jesus himself? I know our Lord can do anything He wishes. He may have decided to honor his mother in this way as well, but I also am very skeptical about such things and Scripture tells us to be cautious since we know there are many imposters and signs and wonders that are false. We need to be cautious.

Just wondering. And you can private mail me if you wish. Thanks!

To answer your question, we HAVE had people who have seen visions of Jesus Christ. Two of our most popular devotions, the Divine Mercy and the Sacred Heart, have come out of visions of Jesus Christ.

Google them if you’re curious.

The Church does not accept just any apparition. It is studied for years from every angle. In the case of the two famous apparitions of Mary (Lourdes and Fatima ) both confirmed 1 John 4 as spoken by the spirit directed at the children. She ( the spirit) confessed the creed with the children.at many times.

I personally did not believe it until I read the full account which can be hard to get to read. Many times it is put in a consise manner to get to the main message. I went to a Vatican informed site.

No pure spirit can confess that Jesus Christ is their personal Savior and Lord together in the personal pronoun. I mean that he became human. The Divinity became man. That is why the Apostles creed and Nicene creed were created to confirm the test written by John the Apostle.

There is more to it . But that is the main reason besides others. If we do not believe 1 JOHN 4 as a requirement we might as well throw out the bible.

I have personally encounter an occultist who told me she was Christian. The spirit of God within me told me to challenge her. To say the least since she had some form of possession she could not declare in the personal pronoun that she believed in Jesus Christ came in the Flesh. She could not when it gets to " born of a virgin Mary " . She stopped and contorted like an unseen force prevented her. Shaking unnaturally then declaring there are "many gods".

Here it is in scripture:

1 John 4

On Denying the Incarnation

1 "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit[a] of truth and the spirit of falsehood."

If I see an apparition talk to me. I would cover the Blood of Christ over it. Then if it still talked I would tell it to declare in the personal pronoun "I" that Christ came in the Flesh/human .

It is funny that the children in the apparition where doing that without really knowing it. Why because it is built into the prayers they repeated with The Virgin Mary. This how the researchers from the Church beside other measures decided it was genuine.

I could not agree with you more. Meanwhile, I meet many people these days who will tell me they are “spiritual,” as if that is something positive to be glad about. My response to that is “Which spirit?”

All I know is that my best friend, who traveled to Mejdugorge (sp?) a year ago pays very close attention to these visions, but nothing that she has ever communicated to me is anything more than what Scripture has already told us about what has come or what is to come.

Also, while I acknowledge that Catholic teaching says that Mary intercedes on the behalf of the saints and that we have communion with the saints (per the Apostles Creed), then why do so many people I know tell me, verbatim, “I will pray TO “so and so” (pick your saint).

Thanks for the input!

This is in the Bible. Why don’t you believe it. It was not an apparition at all. It was the Incarnation — the Annunciation.

Read Luke 1 starting at verse 26

You been reading false info. There are two meanings to the the word Pray.

Praying Means beseeching. One means to God . The other is asking or beseeching a person( a king, Queen or person).

When Catholics say pray to a saint it is a beseeching. Asking for pray. St Jude pray for us.

First a definition: "To pray," as a verb, has two very distinct meanings:

1 : to make a request in a humble manner

2 : to address God or a god with adoration, confession, supplication, or thanksgiving

It is only in this first sense that Catholics "pray" to saints. "To pray" is simply to ask, and it is a common English word as these examples will show: "Comes now Petitioner and, having filed his Motion in Limine, prays this Honorable Court to grant..." or "I pray thee, sir, might I borrow your book?". In the first instance, the Petitioner is not worshipping the Court. In the second, the potentia book-borrower is not worshipping the book owner.

Here is what is so aggravating about your response. I have ASKED many Catholics about this - point blank - and they never uttered one word of this. In fact, when my beloved mother-in-law was alive, we had lost our camera. She told me in NO uncertain terms that she was going to pray TO St. Anthony to find our camera. I was adamant that she just go right to the Lord. Finally, I posed the following to her:

I said that I knew God was omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent and, therefore, could hear the prayers of the entire world and be right with each individual as they prayed. I also said that I didn’t believe St. Anthony was ANY of those things, so I asked when all the thousands and hundreds of thousands of people all over who decide to pray to St. Anthony at the same time, how on Earth did he HEAR those? Her response to me: “Oh, you’re too practical!” LOL. She was hilarious. Boy do I miss her lots.

I’m not saying you are wrong at all. I’m just saying that you are completely naive if you think that people even know the word beseech, much less that when they tell me they are praying TO someone, that this is what they mean. It doesn’t and I have had them argue with me about it.

Meanwhile, I appreciate you telling me all of this.
