...I attended a luncheon for the Holocaust Museum...Each year I ask myself, Why am I here? ...Tis a gruesome tradition.
I think of my grandfather, Rabbi Jacob Meyer Rakowski... My grandfather was the...last descendant of a rabbinic dynasty hailing back to 11th century France. At age 82, grandpa was gassed in Auschwitz, together with 47 members of my parents' families. I last saw him two years earlier, when my parents, my brother and I were deported to Siberia.
I'm retelling this old history because now, with Mitt Romney possibly becoming the Republican nominee, it's important to remember that his Church of Latter Day Saints, the Mormons, had most likely baptized my dead grandfather, a ritual they've been performing on 6 million dead Jews...
SNIP
So tell me truly, does my grandfather need to have his body snatched so he can be redeemed in a Kingdom of God he never wanted to enter?
SNIP
It's interesting to note the Catholic Church had outlawed this rite as early as the 4th century. But it was resurrected 1,500 years later by American Mormons. As a result, today we have an argument between Mitt Romney, Rabbi Jacob Meyer Rakowski, and me his only surviving grandchild. Plus 6 million dead Jews.
SNIP
...they believe in choice, stipulating that any dead person can refuse to be baptized but so far they'd heard no objections. (I kid you not.)
Every Jewish organization has begged the Mormons to stop. They promised to do so, but continue the practice. And they've never explained why they perform this necrophiliac aberration.
I therefore demand, for my grandfather and the rest of the dead, that Mormons immediately reverse all baptisms. They keep a great set of books and will have no problem to publish lists of un-baptized Jews...

Looks like they’ve thrown just about EVERYTHING under the bus!
Sounds more New Agey than anything now...
RLDS is to MORMONism as BAHAI is to Islam
Party ownership of the print media
made it easy to manipulate public opinion,
and the film and radio carried the process further.
....... The Ministry of Truth, Winston's place of work, contained, it was said, three thousand rooms above ground level, and corresponding ramifications below. The Ministry of Truth concerned itself with Lies. Party ownership of the print media made it easy to manipulate public opinion, and the film and radio carried the process further. The primary job of the Ministry of Truth was to supply the citizens of Oceania with newspapers, films, textbooks, telescreen programmes, plays, novels - with every conceivable kind of information, instruction, or entertainment, from a statue to a slogan, from a lyric poem to a biological treatise, and from a child's spelling-book to a Newspeak dictionary. Winston worked in the RECORDS DEPARTMENT (a single branch of the Ministry of Truth) editing and writing for The Times. He dictated into a machine called a speakwrite. Winston would receive articles or news-items which for one reason or another it was thought necessary to alter, or, in Newspeak, rectify. If, for example, the Ministry of Plenty forecast a surplus, and in reality the result was grossly less, Winston's job was to change previous versions so the old version would agree with the new one. This process of continuous alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound-tracks, cartoons, photographs - to every kind of literature or documentation which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance. When his day's work started, Winston pulled the speakwrite towards him, blew the dust from its mouthpiece, and put on his spectacles. He dialed 'back numbers' on the telescreen and called for the appropriate issues of The Times, which slid out of the pneumatic tube after only a few minutes' delay. The messages he had received referred to articles or news-items which for one reason or another it was thought necessary to rectify. In the walls of the cubicle there were three orifices. To the right of the speakwrite, a small pneumatic tube for written messages; to the left, a larger one for newspapers; and on the side wall, within easy reach of Winston's arm, a large oblong slit protected by a wire grating. This last was for the disposal of waste paper. Similar slits existed in thousands or tens of thousands throughout the building, not only in every room but at short intervals in every corridor. For some reason they were nicknamed memory holes. When one knew that any document was due for destruction, or even when one saw a scrap of waste paper lying about, it was an automatic action to lift the flap of the nearest memory hole and drop it in, whereupon it would be whirled away on a current of warm air to the enormous furnaces which were hidden somewhere in the recesses of the building. As soon as Winston had dealt with each of the messages, he clipped his speakwritten corrections to the appropriate copy of The Times and pushed them into the pneumatic tube. Then, with a movement which was as nearly as possible unconscious, he crumpled up the original message and any notes that he himself had made, and dropped them into the memory hole to be devoured by the flames. What happened in the unseen labyrinth to which the tubes led, he did not know in detail, but he did know in general terms. As soon as all the corrections which happened to be necessary in any particular number of The Times had been assembled and collated, that number would be reprinted, the original copy destroyed, and the corrected copy placed on the files in its stead. In the cubicle next to him the little woman with sandy hair toiled day in day out, simply at tracking down and deleting from the Press the names of people who had been vaporized and were therefore considered never to have existed. And this hall, with its fifty workers or thereabouts, was only one-sub-section, a single cell, as it were, in the huge complexity of the Records Department. Beyond, above, below, were other swarms of workers engaged in an unimaginable multitude of jobs. There were huge printing-shops and their sub editors, their typography experts, and their elaborately equipped studios for the faking of photographs. There was the tele-programmes section with its engineers, its producers and its teams of actors specially chosen for their skill in imitating voices; clerks whose job was simply to draw up lists of books and periodicals which were due for recall; vast repositories where the corrected documents were stored; and the hidden furnaces where the original copies were destroyed. And somewhere or other, quite anonymous, there were the directing brains who co-ordinated the whole effort and laid down the lines of policy which made it necessary that this fragment of the past should be preserved, that one falsified, and the other rubbed out of existence. |

Personally don't think this should be a political issue or laid at Mitts feet. It's as legitimate as going after Eric Kantor for reducing employment in the pork industry. It would be nice if LDS members honored agreements not to baptise Holocaust victims.
First, the source of the names. As you know the Jewish community has gone through great effort the last 7 decades attempting to establish the identities of the dead. Because entire villages we destroyed, and 70% or so of Europes Jews murdered, others gone after the war, many identities will never be known. Only in the last 2 years has the Red Cross agreed to allow access to their records. Every time this happens a few octagenarian family members reunite. Considering the errort put into this task which will never be completed, I think it's understandable that when data is compiled and released for the benefit of survivors, individuals at the LDS latch onto them and baptise everyone. I doubt I'd like my efforts used that way.
Second, and more important, the Mormon Church agrees completely that Jews should not be baptised unless they're ancestors. Period. IMO the discussion of whether it's proper or the Jews should be happy ends there. It's not the Mormon position. The LDS should do a better job of monitoring miscreants, and it's certainly legitimate for the Jewish community to raise the issue. But the issue is individual Mormons not following Church policy.
It's a shame a big component of this election we be debasing religion in America, whether Mitt and the LDS, or the Catholic Church over abortion and contraception via Santorum or Newt.
You don’t understand. They do this so they can CLAIM these dead as their own anscestors and by extension, they become G-d’s Chosen prople which gives them the right to lay claim to Biblical Israel. It isn’t just Holocaust victims they do this to, it is anyone and everyone of every ethnicity and religious background whom they believe are descended from the Tribes of Israel since they believe everyone is related and it is they who inherit the Covenant. It is the ATTEMPTED theft of a birthright and a heritage which is not theirs, never was, and never will be.
It has the same connotation of conquering by lies and erasing/rewriting of history as islam seeks to impose when it builds mosques on top of hallowed church grounds and claims it was always theirs.
ancestors
gah
It’s a shame a big component of this election we be debasing religion in America,
The sad part is that so-called conservatives can be just as bad about it as liberals.
You’re correct
The Mormon Church is notorious for misrepresenting their policies, doctrines, practices, history, etc. They refer to this practice as Lying for the Lord and consider it their sacred duty if the falsehood upholds their faith and the truth hurts. Proxy baptism is a classic example of an embarrassment where misstatements are legion.
Your notion that the practice of dead-dunking the ancestors of persons of the Jewish faith (and other people who find the practice repulsive) is due solely to a few rogue Mormons is incorrect and, quite frankly, extremely naive.
It’s disrespectful, but meaningless mumbo-jumbo.
It does convince me that mormonism is a silly cult.
Like up in reply #24???
I see that you speak from EXPERIENCE!
I feel compelled to correct a couple of your impressions/statements.
I’ve not seen any here on FR state they “hate” individual mormons.
I don’t like their theology and doctrine, but that doesn’t mean I hate “them”.
Mormons did a really good job of instigating the fine folks of MO into retaliating and when they started getting their collective butts handed to them, did what all good liberals do, complain and turn it into a PR coup. Claiming they were the ones being “persecuted” simply for being mormons.
I meant to type debating, not debasing, but both terms work. This shouldn’t be a political issue.
I’ve been called worse than naive. IMO this isn’t a political issue.
But it is.
It reflects on a person decision making capabilities.
Gathering data from a lot of sources and making reasoned outcomes.
Reasonable people LEAVE MORMONism after receiving data that their chosen church had failed to provide to them.
