Voting The Least Harmful-My Rationality
02-05-2012 | Me

Posted on 02/05/2012 7:33:18 AM PST by dps.inspect

I am a born again Christian. I am protestant, but am not attached to any particular church or denomination at this time, though I have been in times past. I am committed to Christ, but am imperfect in areas of commitment, yet I glory in my Risen Savior.

As regards voting for any particular individual for POTUS, my view is to vote for the individual who, in my estimation, would do the least harm to my freedoms as granted by God and enumerated in our founding documents. Having lived through numerous presidencies, I have observed this; no man governs perfectly, but govern they do, some with little affect on my freedoms and some with great affect. Our present POTUS seems intent on changing from, God Given to Obama Given... this should never be, of any man holding that office.

I have in times past been more impassioned, and emotionally attached to individuals for whom I've voted... the flaw being, that emotional attachment obscures rationality. That is key... to not be emotionally taken-in, by anyone! This time around, I remain aloof, but not regarding Obama, against him I will vote, with all my humanity. But as regards to who replaces him I have no particular attachments other than to vote, when my time arrives, for the one who will do the least harm.

Palin never entered the race; Bachmann is gone; Santorum may or may not be standing before I vote, which if he is, he will get my vote; if it is between Newt and Mitt, I'll be voting Newt; and if my final choice is between Mitt and Obama, guess what, I'll be voting for Mitt. I won't be throwing away my vote on some moralistic 3rd party candidate, or doing a protest vote, which is as I see it, voting for Obama.

Some may like to play chess with their vote. Some say, well if we vote for the worst offender, then the voters will see it our way next time around. Why go to hell when you don't have to? Why sacrifice the present, so by chance, the future won't be as bad... who can foretell the future?

Mitt has the blood of infants on his hands, he has governed to the left in Massachusetts and he has lied (for he is a Politician)... I see these things, yet, he is courting conservatism and is, in my estimation, moving to the right. It also appears that he can be pushed to the right. So, I ax-chew, has Obama moved rightward? Can he be pushed to the right? Can Obama be anything more than an ideologue, in search of the perfect formula that punishes his enemies and rewards his friends, all the while, ignoring our great constitution, and doing it all in Jesus's name? Can we not cry out Blasphemy on that man!!

Regardless who becomes the next POTUS, Christ is king and I will follow him.

I’m stickin with Rick even though I don’t see how we can overcome Romney. Even with Gingrich and Santorum numbers combined it just ain’t enough and we know Ron Paul isn’t going anywhere.

I’d really rather see people vote their conscience and accept the likelyhood that Romney will be the nominee. Then we can move on to focusing our efforts on holding the house and taking the senate.

Mit Romney IS Obama, just a lighter shade of pale. Now, knowing that for a fact these men are ideological twins, one goes to other factors.

Obama can only win one more term. 4 more years and he’s done while his twin, Mitt Romney could kill us for eight years.

Points to ponder.

You say that he’s a liar but you trust his motives? Imagine the confusion on the part of the poor reader.

Pray for a miracle. Know that His Grace will be sufficient no matter what.

Um, did you mean to deceive us? With Newt and Rick numbers combined, Milt Rominy is set aside. Now, how do you get the lesser votes for Rick over to the larger votes for Newt, or the larger votes for Newt over to the lesser votes for Rick?

all men have lied... Presidents, all have lied... politicians see the lie as a tool in their arsenal... being in the world and not of it, does not mean don’t try to influence it... even Christian lie, ponder that...

This is looking more and more like another stealth Rominy supporter tactic. Reminds me of 'Come to praise Caesar Romney not to bury him.'

Just go ahead and believe what you want to believe. I really don’t care.

Some of you folks are off the rails and sounding an awful lot like liberals these days.

Rationality... Is the thing to considered here. Sounds as though you would rather vote Obama because you are so emotionally invested in beating Romney. I am not, emotionally invested that is. Even if Obama retains the white house, my faith is not moved, but it may be forced into new realities. If Romney wins, I at least feel as though there is a chance to keep our Republic. If Net or Santorum should miraculously pull of a victory, I would rejoice, understanding though they are as we, just men.

That could change. I think one reason the numbers are so low is that Newt is not that well liked. With obvious exceptions, the voters aren't passionate about him. It could be the same with Santorum, I certainly don't know, but I think it could change as well. Definitely would pick up more women's votes.

Excellent analogy. I keep hearing about strategy instead of what these candidates stand for.

Would you rather have Ebola (Obama) or HIV (Romney)?

That’s what it comes down to.

Excellent analogy, because with either one, the country will die.

These days, anti-retroviral drugs can turn HIV into a chronic state of sickness rather than a death sentence. If Romney does become the eventual nominee and president, that highly active anti-retroviral treatment would be a strong, conservative senate.
