I am 85 years old and have been a Mormon for 57 years. I have lived in a dozen wards in California, Arizona, Utah and Idaho. I have never heard a discussion of candidates at Church or any other place where a large group of members were gathered, I have met with small groups twice on ballot propositions. I have been in leadership positions many times. I spent 3 years in the same ward as Church President Gordon B. Hinckley and his councilor James Faust. The Church is non political but most members vote Republican because of conservative principals I would prefer another candidate than Mitt, I too am concerned about his many positions but I know this, he has been taught to love and honor the Constitution and this great country. He will honor The Presidency.
President Ronald Reagan had 16 Mormons in his administration because he had great respect for their work ethic and honesty. If you want the names I will provide them.
Every Mormon ward has a Cub Pack and a Boy Scout Troop and Scouting principals are taught to our boys. These same principals are as much a part of The Church as our belief in Jesus Christ.
When I joined The Church there were a million members, now their are 14 million.
God Bless The USA. May we love one another as The Savior taught.

Your age explains a lot...

The fact that your were a Mormon before 1978 explains a lot

The fact that you were a convert and not BIC explains a lot..

Mostly converts are assigned to attack Christians in the FRee Republic threads as a “calling” of the Mormon religion...

When did that happen ???

The Mormon religion started out as a political institution with Joey Smith making himself Mayor of Nauvoo and passing laws and petitioning Congress for favors like a 100,000 man private army funded by the American taxpayers...

and in 1844 Joey Smith ran for POTUS ...

and then there were the years Brigham Young was Gov of Utah Territory...

and then there were those “divine everlasting doctrines” that were influenced by political ambition...

In 2008 95% of Utah (w3hich is heavily Mormo0n) voted for Mormon bishop and high priest Willard Mitt Romney..

No kid...

Mormonism is extremely political...

most members vote Republican because of conservative principals
___________________________________________

No most members voted in 1980 because of Jimmy Cater...

Jimmy Carter was a favorite of the Mormon leadership until 1978 when Jimmy pressured and threatened the Mormons into changing their unConstitutional and unAmerican racism against black men...

The Mormons are still racist against black women but then all Mormon women are 2nd class citizens to the Mormon males...

and are placed in importance after 12 year old boys..

The Mormons hated Carter after that and swore revenge...

Their obsession was so great they voted for the also much hated Ronald Reagan...

Talk about sick puppies..

The Church is non political

SNORT! I was a member for over 40 years. May I remind you of the address by the very political Ezra Taft Benson.

(Excerpt)...Those who would remove prophets from politics would take God out of government. ....

.... let us summarize this grand key, these “Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet”, for our salvation hangs on them.

1. The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.
2. The living prophet is more vital to us than the standard works.
3. The living prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet.
4. The prophet will never lead the church astray.
5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time.
6. The prophet does not have to say “Thus Saith the Lord,” to give us scripture.
7. The prophet tells us what we need to know, not always what we want to know.
8. The prophet is not limited by men’s reasoning.
9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual.
10. The prophet may be involved in civic matters.
11. The two groups who have the greatest difficulty in following the prophet are the proud who are learned and the proud who are rich.
12. The prophet will not necessarily be popular with the world or the worldly.
13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidency—the highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidency—the living prophet and the First Presidency—follow them and be blessed—reject them and suffer.

as only a convert who has not stopped long in any one ward you wont get to hear much of anything..

You would have to be a bit higher up in the pecking order to know anything passed the curdled milk you have been swilling for 57 years and since 1955 when David O McKay was the Mormon prophet..

About Romney

I know this, he has been taught to love and honor the Constitution and this great country. He will honor The Presidency.
_____________________________________

No he hasnt

He not only once but TWICE dodged the draft that would have lead to his serving our country in the US military ...

thats not the actions of a guy who “loves and honors this great country”

No Romney from Willards gg grandfathers down to his FIVE healthy sons have ever served in the US military...

Find any other family outside the Mormon Ropmneys who have not had someone fighting in at least WWI, WWII Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Iraq, Afghanistan...

Not to mention the Indian Wars and the Civil War during the 1800s..

There arent any or few..

at some time for a family that has been in the US as long as Willards has, there was someone who picked up a gun and fought for the country..

Has anyone ever told you about the Mormon “Oath of Vengence” ???

It went under ground in 1927 but its good to the 3rd and 4th generatio0nj so it includes Willard...

Its a sworn in blood oath of vengence against the governmet of the United States..

George Romney took it as an adult and it was good down to his son Willard, and willards FIVE sons and Willards grandchildren will also have been taught it...

Thats not love and honor of the Constitution..

Willard Mitt Romney was a grown man and didnt protest the racism and bigotry against black men and women and white women and never left the racist Mormon religion..

He agreed with the unConstitutional treatment of other people...

and cried in anger in 1978 when the Mormon religion changed their racist doctrines to passify Jimmy Carter..and politics..

Thats not a guy who loves and honors the Constitution..

In 2002 he vowed he would not do anything to overturn Roe V Wade...

what about the rights of the unborn ???

Thats not a guy who loves and hoonors the Constitutio0n...

and thats certainity not a guy who is a Conservative...

Kid you need to open youre eyes to who and what Willard Mitt Romney really is..

Hes not fit to be the president of the United States..

There are an alleged 14 mill world wide.
7 mil probably in the US, with half of those under 18.
My uncle was a former bishop, they talked about candidates often.
My lds family believes that Romney is the fulfillment of prophesy.
There is a 98% chance that you will vote for Romney, based on current election results.
When you say jesus are you talking about the once was man and worked his way to an exalted position or the Biblical Christ who is eternal.

Lawsone on Friday March 9, 2012

“The Church is non political”
______________________________________

and yet just FOUR days before Lawsone said that, in the Mormon religions own mormonnewsroom website reported that the mormons were instructed by a top mormon leader to get involved in politics

Mormon Apostle Encourages Civic Participation by All Citizens

Rexburg, Idaho — On Sunday Elder Quentin L. Cook, a senior leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), encouraged both Church members and those not of the faith to participate in the political process wherever they live.

“We would hope that [participation in the political process] would be true of all citizens, members and nonmembers alike, in all states and all countries where elections will be held,” Elder Cook said to college-age students Sunday in a regular worldwide satellite broadcast held at Brigham Young University-Idaho. “The price of freedom has been too high and the consequences of nonparticipation are too great for any citizen to feel that they can ignore their responsibility.”

Elder Cook specifically mentioned the caucuses in Utah and Idaho for the various parties that will be held starting this week. The First Presidency recently issued a letter to be read in all Utah congregations that encourages Latter-day Saints to attend their local precinct caucus meetings. (The Church is politically neutral and does not endorse candidates or parties.)

Elder Cook also taught Latter-day Saints to develop high moral character and practice civility in daily discourse.
“Any use of the Internet to bully, destroy a reputation, or place a person in a bad light is reprehensible,” Elder Cook said. “What we are seeing in society is that when people wear the mask of anonymity, they are more likely to engage in this kind of conduct which is so destructive of civil discourse. It also violates the basic principles the Savior taught. ”

Read Elder Cook’s entire address .

Style Guide Note: When reporting about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, please use the complete name of the Church in the first reference. For more information on the use of the name of the Church, go to our online style guide.

and a nice photo with the caption
