A German Catholic priest has admitted 280 counts of sexual abuse involving three boys over almost a decade, the BBC reported. About 2,800 pornographic images -- including several of his victims -- were found on the priest's computer.

Named only as Andreas L, the priest, 46, told a court in Braunschweig he did not think he was doing harm.

How do you establish orthodox belief when you're a split of a split of a split? It's heterodoxy in action.

The 'heretics' either take over or split yet again. It's the perfect system for liberals to take over more and more churches - and they have.

The OPC is a very small and declining branch, both in size and influence.

Why do you use RCC? Is it because it is a Protestant thing to do? There are over 20 rites in the Catholic Church. The Latin Rite is only one of them.

Are you saying that Catholics are Satanic because they might not read the Bible as often as you do? I think this is a strange use of words. I would never venture to call any group other than the occult “Satanic.”

When you say that Rome gets it wrong, what exactly is wrong with the Bible? With Catholics? Can you be more specific?

I am a woman. You, I believe, are a woman. Are you saying that the Catholic Church is composed of only “old men?” LOL!

You should hear our youth choir!

The chausible, alb, and other vestments, BTW, are not dresses. Sorry you believe that they are.

When posters post outright lies, such as:
The RCC lies to its members by telling them the Bible is too difficult to be read on their own and so they need a bunch of old men in dresses to interpret all the big words for them.
What is the appropriate route? Call them a liar? Point out that their heretical sect is satanic? Laugh at them?

I’m thinking “Laugh at them.”

Or maybe:

“OPC grandmothers wear army boots and chew tobacco.”

The word "lie" attributes motive, the intent to deceive. It is therefore "making it personal."

Words such as "false" "wrong" "error" do not attribute motive.

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

Again, there is nothing wrong with quoting another Freeper or stating what you think he/she believes - but do not put words in the other poster’s mouth, i.e. read his mind, attribute motives to him and so on.

Whab about persist falsehoods in the face of clear evidence? At what point does it become obvious that a lie is being told? When does that type of vicious, nasty behavior get stopped?

To many around here the statement "Catholics worship Mary" is a fact. And likewise to many around here that statement is an abominable lie.

No matter how false you might think a statement is, no matter what you might think the other poster is "up to" - never accuse the other Freeper of telling a lie.

Simply say "false" "wrong" "error" "no dice" etc. - which do not attribute motive.

Great example. The official teachings of the Catholic Church are all online now. If we point to those teachings and demonstrate that the claim is false, and it gets repeated, how can the motive not be more clear? Just like the defamatory claim:
The RCC lies to its members by telling them the Bible is too difficult to be read on their own...
Again, easy enough to show that it isn't true and then when a clear falsehood is told by that same poster, why can they not be called on their repeating a known lie?

For the last time - do not accuse another Freeper of telling a lie because it attributes motive, the intent to deceive.

Words such as "false" "wrong" "error" do not attribute motive.

I understand that - the question is how to respond to the serial and obvious defamers?

Simply say "wrong" "false" "error" "no dice." Or with emphasis, "for the nth time, that statement is false."

“The doctrine of Alter Christi is that the priest when adminstering the Sacraments is acting in the person of Christ”
My post

Dr E’s reply
“Blasphemy.”

So from her reply I can not write that she disagrees with the doctine of Alter Christie because in her strong opinion (belief) it is blasphemy?

Again I understand if she had written

“The doctrine of Alter Christi is an example of extra Biblical teaching from the Catholic Church.”

and I had replied

“You wrote that because you believe all Catholics are against the Bible.”

That certainly would be mind reading and assuming a motive.

So since you make no distinction between the two examples I have to assume one of the following.

Dr E’s writing that Alter Christ is Blasphemy in no way indicates she believes Alter Christi is Blasphemy. Which is sort of hard to glean from her post.

Dr Eckleburg’s post is no longer to be taken as a strong opinion based on religious conviction but must now be accepted as truthful by me. Since I can not state it is her belief it moves out of the territory of being personal and into the territory of being a truth recognized by all people.

Got it. Whatever Dr. Eckleburg writes is true and is not a matter of opinion.

I’ll remember that.

I am pro Scripture and anti authoritarian interpretation by old men in dresses.

This stylish dress comes with a matching Taliban hat.
