Mitt Romney has realized that he can't avoid the issue of his Mormon religion, so he might as well embrace it. The Republican frontrunner's new South Carolina mail campaign emphasizes Romney's deep religious beliefs and 42-year marriage, in an effort to win over 60 percent of the state's Republicans that are evangelical or "born again" Christians. The ad, however, doesn't dive head first into touting Romney's Mormonism, but instead refers heavily to his "faith" and how it will influence him as president, also assuring South Carolina voters that the White House contender is "pro-life, pro-marriage, and pro-family."
Wait a minute. Per the revised "John 3:16" of too many FREEPERS, I thought Romney's Mormonism was supposed to be hermetically sealed from his candidacy.
Why isn't now thus so segregated from his political campaign?
(Waiting for answers)
Oh.
I get it.
It's "OK" for "religion" to be "used" for political purposes" IF it's a positive "faith-promoting" sanitized version...
...but...if it's a negative critique, then all boundaries are to be maintained.
Is that it?
Otherwise...IF the FREEPERS who have outlined their expressions on NUMEROUS OTHER FR THREADS that the Mormon religion is to be "kept out" of candidate considerations...
...IF they would be consistent...
...THEN they should appear in droves on this thread and proceed to lecture Romney to keep his religion out of these political machinations...
...Right?
...Well...
...if...
...they were at all consistent, that is...
...you know...consistent...
...you know, continuity in expressing their convictions...
...you know...intellectual integrity...
...and all that...
(Don't anybody hold their breath)
Willard, Willard...Anyone? Willard....
Mormons have always stressed their “wholesomeness” and “family values” in their proselytizing in order to fool Americans.
They also do all they can to evade discussions of their twisted theology and checkered history.
Romney is not pro-life, “I am more pro-choice than Ted Kennedy.)
Romney is pro-family, helps on own his planet (but really who is anti-family)
Romney is pro-marriage, yea he supports the homosexual agenda.
If you vote for Romney ... then you are a Democrat ... pure and simple.
If you vote for Romney you are not a conservative and/or probably a mormon (94% lds in past elections voted for him) OR you are a totally delusional person claiming to be a conservative.
So I would say it differently, if you vote for Romney you are a liberal whether you are registered as a Republican or Democrat.
“Is it time yet to be really worried that he will be the Republican nominee? Is the RINO establishment gonna give us two unwinable RINOs in a row???”
I dread that conversation. I hope Rick - either one - can pull off the upset of a lifetime. I oppose Romney greatly, but then I think of the chaos that could be inflicted by an Obama totally unrestrained by the need to be popular or run for re-election. We have to fight hard to stop that from happening, and right now that means doing what we can to avoid having to have the Romney conversation in the first place. Go Rick(s)!
“The really silly stuff like magic underwear to protect against the boogieman and special hand grips to tell angels from demons”
Wow!
The Magic Panties have *hand grips*, too?
[now, if they only had “wings”]
I'm thinking slightly differently. What is going to have to happen to avoid Romney is other candidates dropping out to support one notRomney. Otherwise we get the Huckabee dynamic and McRomney.
I don't know what the deadline is for this, but as long as there are several notRomneys running, the vote will be split and Romney it will be.
The whole argument is moot. Romney is as Mormon as Pelosi is Catholic. He takes his religion as seriously as he takes his conservatism, hence of all that is wrong with him, Mormonism is my least concern. I would much prefer if he was a Book of Mormon thumping religious fanatic than the Demoncrat in drag he actually is.
The real question is, will we vote for him like last time? Its a lose, lose, situation.
Mitt Romney strikes me as the Al Gore of the Republican Party, except that Al Gore had more conservative leanings prior to his entrance into Washington politics.
The Priest, Bishop, and Stake President, Mitt Romney, is a deeply religious and devoted Mormon and Mormon teacher.
Romney’s family immigrated to America in the early 1840s to serve the cults founder. Mitt’s own father was born in Mexico because the Romneys had migrated to Mexico to stay devoted to pure Mormonism and Mitt had three grandmothers (polygamy).
Mitt is a strong force in Mormonism and is among the secretive, most devout and devoted 15% elite of Mormonism.
Bishop Romney is the “ Book of Mormon thumping religious fanatic” that you say you “would much prefer”. A President Mitt will even need special devout Mormon secret service who share that 15% membership of the most holy, with him, so that they can escort him into the privileged, and secret, inner workings of the religion which rigidly forbids access to about 85% of the less devoted and committed Mormon ranks.
He strikes ME as a used car salesman. Even if he WERE a Christian conservative, he comes across as slimey/slithery.
Makes my skin crawl.
Who did Huckabee keep from being elected?
Yeah...
Sure...
This CAN'T be true; can it Sandy?
Resty??
Jeff???
