Thats gonna leave a mark. Catholic “copy and paste” flood of church laws/rules/traditions disputing what this former seminarian says in 3-2-1,,,,
The rosary is unscriptural...yet the first part is taken straight from the bible...in the angels salutation to mary....however did the church grow for 400 years without the bible...martin luther reincarnate

I’ve heard testimonies like this so often.
What a wonderful story and testimony.
Praise the Lord.
Amen & Amen!
“Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD, Praise ye the Lord.” (Psalm 150:6)
“For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:17)
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconcilation.” (2 Corinthians 17-19)
“For He[God] hath made Him[Jesus] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)
I had a similar situation. I was a cradle Catholic, converted to the Baptist faith in my 20’s and had a similar experience. After a really long study of 8 years trying to save my family from the Roman Church, I found myself reverting back to her.
I had the similar notion of all those works and rituals until I realized in my study, that the Catholic Church teaches one thing and one thing only
We are saved by grace, through faith, and evidence of this is our works. Any other order prescribed by any one in the faith is in error on the teachings of the Catholic church. Works are important as we are Jesus’s hands and feet on this earth and we are to do as He would do while on it. Jesus’s life was lived in action- living the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, as we are called to do.
Just as there are not so great, or even horrible examples of every faith out there, that does not negate the fact that a devout christian, Catholic or other wise will absolutely say when asked, that we are wretched sinners, in need of salvation, and that we are saved by grace through faith and the evidence of this is our works, which are comprised of our imitation of Christ’s example to us while He walked the earth both proclaiming and doing the word and works of God. Let anyone who tells you otherwise be treated as suspect, as they do not know what the Catholic Church teaches regarding salvation. They are going by hearsay from some disgruntled or misinformed Catholic in name only and believe me, we have some doozies-I was one of them.
Oy Vey, you really have the spirit of the New Year, Protest-—ant. / sarcasm
I will state categorically that this person is a bald-faced liar. There is no way on Earth that a seminarian wouldn't learn about absolution, since he is required to communicate it.
As to the plainly ridiculous claim that he didn't get any scripture studies: A quick check on the Maynooth curriculum confirms that students learn in their first year alone:
Revelation and Faith ("Revelation" is how Catholics will sometime refer to entire corpus of scripture.)
Introduction to Biblical Greek
Introduction to Biblical Hebrew
Introduction to Ecclesiastical Latin
Scripture Studies 1: Eden to Exile
Scripture Studies 2: New Testament
Plus, they are required to perform the Holy Offices, which are scripture readings every three hours. Not to mention, of course, the fact that their theology courses are biblical as well.
Why do Calvinists feel they must slander Catholicism?
“I loved my sin, but I hated that miserable life and started to cry out to God.”
Sometimes I do believe that is the universal lot of mankind. At least this man knew whom to cry out to. So many of the lost these days do not know that God is ready to answer their cries.
“I entered the Roman Catholic Seminary located in Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland. During my two years at seminary, I learned about religion and philosophy but there were no biblical studies”
Here is a link to the course requirements of that seminary.I doubt the course outlines have changed all that much.
http://www.maynoothcollege.ie/courses/index.shtml
We have course offerings in
“Sacred Scripture
SC 131 From Eden to Exile
SC 135 Risen Lord in a Pagan Empire”
Perhaps the good man had no idea that courses in Sacred Scripture were Biblical Studies. However, did he qualify for admission?
I feel sorry for this poor confused man and I am not surprised if attendance at Maynooth Seminary left him damaged. That place has been run sexually perverted heretics for the past few decades. He apparently had some very serious issues with sin going in. The disordered environment at Maynooth could only make things worse.
The story is vague but it sounds like he was frustrated by his inability to stop sinning so he sought another route of receiving forgiveness. In other words, it sounds like he thinks that he found an alternative to the battle against sin. He says that Protestantism enabled forgiving, not the ending of his sins.
If he decided to surrender to his sins, that is certainly a reason to leave the Church. However, exchanging true doctrine for false will not win him forgiveness.
One "Banner of Truth" preaches Calvinist predestination; the other preaches baptismal regeneration and an Arminian soteriology. At least one of them has to be a "Banner of False Teaching and Bad Exegesis," but which one?
Which fact neatly epitomizes the problem with Protestantism: everyone gets to decide for themselves what the truth is, based on Their Own Personal Interpretation of Scripture ... meaning that there can be no real, objective, truth. It's the problem that Marcus Grodi ran into as a Presbyterian pastor when he realized he had no real grounds for believing that he was right in what he preached and the Lutheran pastor down the street was wrong. It's what led him into the Catholic Church.
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. -- James 5:16, NKJV
And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained. -- John 20:22-23, NKJV
Wow, he really was Biblically illiterate at Maynooth ... and nothing has changed since!
