Founded in 1830, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was initially perceived as a movement of polygamous, radical zealots; now in parts of the U.S. it has become synonymous with the establishment. In reevaluating its preoccupation with issues of church and state, Abanes uncovers the political agenda at Mormonisms core: the transformation of the world into a theocratic kingdom under Mormon authority. This illustrated edition has been revised and offers a new postscript by the author.

The US under the tyranic heel of the Mormon theocratic dictatorship model of middle 19th Century Utah Territory or the Sharia Law of the Moslems...
Same Same...
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
So he will be known as Everlasting Father
Merry Christmas everyone!
Also, there's a link @ site to Amazon...that link is fine too
IOW, you're intolerant of my religious vantage point. (And perhaps this author as well)
Doesn't "intolerant" = bigotry?
So you're bigoted against my religious views, eh?
Mormons believe that Baal and Jupiter formed heaven and earth.
Here is a graven image of Ball at the Nauvoo LDS Temple.
Here is Joseph Smith's prized jupiter talisman, which according to his wife was in his pocket when he was killed in a shootout.
Would be willing to point out the bigotry? The poster is posting a link to a book which documents mormon history, explain how that is bigotry.
As a side note not all belief systems are equal, well unless you are Oprah.
Heh, heh, stick around, there’s a whole entire anti-Catholic caucus here at FR (BTW, I’m Catholic).
But since I have learned a great deal about anti-Catholicism as taught in the sacred documents of the Mormon church, it’s been kind of fun to follow the back & forth in the `open religion’ threads where as stipulated, “antagonism, though not encouraged, should be expected.”
Don’t know of any antisemitism on FR since most FReepers are strong supporters of Israel, though we do wonder why the Jewish vote in America goes overwhelmingly for Obama, who is no friend of Israel. That is a fit topic for discussion, IMO.
Personally I will stand up for my God and expose these false prophets. I understand the truth and history of the breakaway lds sect of the mormon cult is ugly, if you don't have the stomache for it make sure Romney doesn't win the primary or you'll be hearing it every night from Chris Matthews !
Give it a rest already!
Because you're ignorant of your own mormon history doesn't give you the right to call others bigots for pointing out the truth. It just makes you look foolish.
And using the term "bigot" just to keep your cults lie a going puts in you the same boat as the homosexuals when they use it against anyone who is against same sex marriage and Palestinians who want the world to believe they are the original inhabitants if Israel.
Not until the cult that is Mormonism is gone.
Hello n00b, Religion forum is for the discussion of religion. If your skin is too thin for it, then avoid the forum and save your blood pressure.
"I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, but by Me."
-Jesus Christ
I guess you will have to consider Jesus Christ a bigot for making an exclusive truth claim too, in order to be consistent...
