>As Christmas shoppers flock to stores, the familiar sights and sounds of Salvation Army bell-ringers with red kettles will prompt many to toss in their coins and remember the less fortunate. But not everyone is in a giving mood.
MSNBC.com reported last week that some LGBT activists are urging people to ignore the bell-ringers because the Salvation Army holds Biblical views that the activists claim are bigoted. The Salvation Army adamantly denies that it discriminates against anyone, including LGBT, who seeks its services or programs. Gay leaders are not satisfied.
Andy Thayer, co-founder of the Gay Liberation Network, said, We are urging a boycott of the Salvation Army because it uses its selective interpretation of the Bible to promote discrimination against LGBT people in employment benefits and leadership positions within the Army.
Thayers call is being echoed by gay leaders such as Bill Browning, editor-in-chief of the influential LGBT blog The Bilerico Project, who recently posted a piece titled, Why You Shouldnt Donate to the Salvation Army Bell-Ringers.
Like most churches, the Salvation Army affirms the sanctity of traditional marriage. It also believes that it is wrong to demean or mistreat people for any reason, including sexual orientation.
Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute, said the boycott is yet another example of political correctness punishing those who seek to share Gods unconditional love with the hurting.
Its a sad day in America when gay rights become more important than giving to the needy, he said.

Given this boycott, by people who knowingly use perverted and twisted, sick interpretations of Holy Scripture to justify their perversion, I will galdly give 2 and 3 times as much this year to the Salvation Army whenever and wherever I see them.
I already did.
Just dropped some money into a Salvation Army kettle today. Now, I wish I’d had more money in my pockets to give.
Yah know what? (To the LBGT bigots) People should be more respectful of the closely-held beliefs of others, don’tcha think?
Next year they will show up in front of store with their own pink kettles.
Can’t Salvation Army just ignore them, and wish them a Merry Christmas?
This makes me glad I dropped some $ in the kettle today!
Hmmm. I’m predicting record contributions to the Salvation Army this year. I know I will be doubling my contribution.
“LGBT activists are urging people to ignore the bell-ringers because the Salvation Army holds Biblical views that the activists claim are bigoted.”
Hmmm...so God is a bigot. Maybe the gay community should take that up with Him.
Pffft!! Like the LBGT crowd was going to put any money in the Red Kettles anyway.
They just pulled that figure That figure just fell out of their behinds. It's more like 1%.
[ only 10% of the population are queer
They just pulled that figure That figure just fell out of their behinds. It’s more like 1%. ]
Which re-enforces my point that they are willing for forsake the 99% in support of the 1%.
Maybe someone should tell OWS, LOL
I'd love to buy tickets to watch that debate. ;-)
Personally speaking, I’d like to thank the homo-activists for bringing this to my attention. It motivates me to make sure to go out of my way to donate to the Salvation Army and to encourage others to do so as well.
“..and the Witch put a curse on the land, so the that it was always winter...always winter and never Christmas.”
Thanks john in springfield.
