Tens of thousands wait for hours in freezing temperatures to kiss belt that Christians believe was worn by Jesus' mother
MOSCOW Braving freezing cold temperatures and ice-covered sidewalks, tens of thousands of Russians stood in line Wednesday to see and kiss a newly arrived relic of the Virgin Mary in Russia's largest Orthodox cathedral.
The Virgin Mary's Cincture, a belt that Christians believe was worn by Jesus' mother, was brought to Russia last month from Mount Athos, a monastic community in Greece.
Kissing the relic, which is encased in an ornamental box, is believed to help barren women conceive and heal other ailments.
The line of people, mostly women, waiting to enter the golden-domed Christ the Savior Cathedral stretched for 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) along the Moscow River despite temperatures that dropped to below minus 5 Celsius (23 Fahrenheit).

*****6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. *****
What does it mean to walk in darkness?
What does it meant to practice the truth?

To live in deliberate, unrepentant sin.
To deal with sin appropriately when convicted of it, going to God and asking Him for forgiveness for the sin and endeavoring to not sin any more.
The Old Testament( covenant) is Gods revelation TO THE JEWS..it was revelation pointing to Christ.. That testament was fulfilled at the cross.. thus Christ gave us a new and better covenant
As NT believers we read the OT through the New..
Do you know the purpose of the commandments??
Which does not cost one one's salvation.
Thanks! UpComing events - Jvette will be holding a man made teaching thread and bringing the Catholic Cart of Knowledge. LOL!! I’ll bring the Popecorn!
Funny..when I read that I had the same thought back to the garden ... The deceptions of the serpent continue today ...
The Bible is far more than that. If that's a common opinion of Scripture amongst Catholics, it's no wonder you don't take it more seriously.
John 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
John 5:37-40 37And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen, 38and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent. 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, 40yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
Ephesians 6:17 17and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
That's essentially no different than saying that Jesus was just a good man, a great moral teacher and an example for us to live like, all the while denying who He really is.
Count me in. I’ll be happy to answer all those unanswered questions as well. Just ping me so I see them.
I know I have been saved from drowning by an angel. All I did was float and pray and the Coast Guard found me two miles down the Atlantic Coast from where my family was looking for me.
If the baptism is for everyone, the rest is, too.
Really! That’s a great story. Praise be to God! Praise Jesus!
Credo in Deum Patrem omnipotentem;
Creatorem caeli et terrae.
Et in Jesum Christum,
Filium eius unicum, Dominum nostrum;
qui conceptus est
de Spiritu Sancto,
natus ex Maria virgine;
passus sub Pontio Pilato,
crucifixus, mortuus, et sepultus;
descendit ad inferos;
tertia die resurrexit a mortuis;
ascendit ad caelos;
sedet ad dexteram Dei Patris omnipotentis;
inde venturus est
iudicare vivos et mortuos.
Credo in Spiritum Sanctum;
sanctam ecclesiam catholicam;
sanctorum communionem;
remissionem peccatorum;
carnis resurrectionem;
vitam aeternam. Amen.
In English:
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived
by the power of the Holy Spirit,
and born of the Virgin Mary,
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
he will come again
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen
Yep. It doesn’t say a few, or those who have enough faith, or those in authority. It says all who believe SHALL.
Hey, is that Soda Pope he’s drinking with that Popecorn?
Where is that found in scripture?
You mean the ability? Not that they have to handle snakes or poison. It was the way you wrote it is why I ask. That’s all.
I don’t know, you tell me. Do your priests, Magisterium or Pope handle snakes or drink poison? Do the “faithful” of your church? Because it definitely says they SHALL. And your church is the one claiming to be THE ONE, true, apostolic succession, great commission, ONLY way to salvation, church that Christ instituted.
Lemme guess, you ate too much popcorn, got caught short — and poped in your pants.
