Gay Episcopal Bishop to Preach at San Francisco Catholic Parish
Catholic Culture ^ | 11/22/11

Posted on 11/23/2011 11:11:08 AM PST by marshmallow

A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.

Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.

Are you sure that God will have mercy on you when you stand before Him or are you sure that you have it now? Or are you still begging for it

What is your interpretation of this?

Do you think that Jesus is judging based on works, or on faith in Him?

...because they trust in the Catholic Church for their salvation. ERGO, if you aren’t Catholic, you can’t be saved. ERGO, you’re not a Christian. Lovely, huh?

If you don't like it, you can either hang about looking in through the windows and complaining or you can form your own club pretending to be the real thing.

Oh wait; the Reformation accomplished both...

Man made teachings/traditions nullify God’s Word. Satan’s tactic from the beginning was to nullify God’s Word.

So who do participants in man made teachings think they are casting out with exorcism prayers for those who believe in God’s WORD ONLY ? LOL!! No one can cast out the Holy Spirit from God’s WORD ONLY believers.

Catholics already invited satan in with embracing man made teachings/doctrines/traditions.

God’s Holy Spirit inspired WORD reigns. God’s Word is the FINAL AUTHORITY. IT ALWAYS was and ALWAYS will be!

There is NOTHING satan can do about it but he tries by deceiving others with man-made counterfeit teachings that oppose God’s Word. His only weapon is deception. Nothing new under the sun.

Even Mormons have recently started demanding that they be called *Christian* and if that doesn’t make a mockery of the term, I don’t know what does.

Every child of the Reformation demands the same thing, right? Is that a mockery? Or simply proportional mockery?

following up on a previous “untruth” that the Council of Ephesus taught the worship of diana ( post #27 ), i am really puzzled how so many “christians” have no trouble delibrately telling “untruths” about 250 Catholic bishops, when the following Scripture came to mind:

2 Thessalonians 2:11-2 “Therefore God sends them a strong delusion , to make them believe what is false, so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

How many of them believe what they believe simply because they prefer it...

Perhaps you understand this verse. Perhaps not. Casting out devils is not always of God.

Good teaching! However, I think that is above the pay grade for some. Remember, they are taught to force themselves, if need be, to obey their confessors. And their confessors don't believe God's Word is The FINAL Authority in spite of there is ONLY - ONE Way, ONE Truth, ONE Life - Jesus, The Word.

You mean like the bodily assumption of Mary?

it did prove very interesting, none of the so called “christians” attacking the Church could even provide the name of just One Christian in the 3rd and 6th centuries!
that says it all.

Thank you Martin Luther

for leading millions astray...

for showing an example of greed and personal gluttony...

for enabling the sack and murder of millions of Christians by the opportunists...

for the Reformed Quislings who aided and abetted the Muslim invasions of Europe right to the gates of Vienna twice...

for the manual strangulation of the good burghers of Geneva by the power mad Cauvin...

and for deluding all the earnest would be Christians that exist with the devil's own brew of muddied and muddled and intentionally deceiving beliefs

“Paul wrote Hebrews”

And you see this where in the Bible?

If the Bible doesn’t say Paul wrote Hebrews, how do you know this?

Evangelicalism is truncated Christianity.

Standing applause. It is not only truncated, it is amputated without a life support system and therefore with a predestined life span.

how do you know infallibly the books you hold in your hand are the Word of God?

is there any human being or human institution that can say what the canon of Scripture is or are we left to guess?

for example, how do we know the Didache or the Gospel of Peter is not Scripture?

I do not believe that even the most ardent anti-Catholics reject Christ. We are simply dealing with a lack of understanding. If we don't try to understand them we will never succeed in having them understand us.

It is not a matter of rejecting Christ. I think that it is a matter of infantile egocentrism. A lot of people never actually come to the realization that the universe exists outside of them, and independent of them.

The Church for one is not a human institution.

Genuine salvation WILL result in a changed heart and life.

I will attest to that. As will those around me who have witnessed the change in me since my Salvation.

The only manmade traditions were those of the Protestant revolutionaries who reinvented Christianity in their own image.

Sola Scriptura is not scriptural.

The Protestant mentality was the forerunner of the secular mentality.

That Scripture pretty much closes the subject on whether God is finished with Israel. I guess that's why it has to be repeatedly denied and ignored.

Thanks for the post, metmom!
