Mitt Romney asks Rick Perry to disavow pastor; Perry says no

WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney has a new message for those who attack his Mormon religion: back off.

On Tuesday, Romney...delivered the word to Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who again refused to reject an endorsement from the evangelical pastor who said the former Massachusetts governor is "not a Christian" and is a member of a "cult" because he is Mormon.

"I would call upon Gov. Perry to repudiate the sentiment and the remarks made by that pastor," Romney said...

Perry, through a spokesman, refused to disavow the pastor, Robert Jeffress, who heads a 10,000-strong Baptist congregation in Dallas.

It's a significant escalation between the two rival campaigns on a highly charged, emotional issue...

"Gov. Perry selected an individual to introduce him who then used religion as a basis for which he said he would endorse Gov. Perry and a reason to not support me, and Gov. Perry then said that introduction was just hit out of the park," Romney told supporters gathered at an event announcing an endorsement from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie...

"Rick Perry's a Christian. He's an evangelical Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ," Jeffress said...

Some evangelical Christians believe Mormons are outside Christianity because they don't believe in the concept of a unified Trinity and because they rely on holy texts in addition to the Bible. For conservative Protestants, the Bible alone is the authoritative word of God and the innovations of Mormon teaching are heresy.

But Perry isn't backing down. Perry spokesman Mark Miner told the Associated Press Tuesday that Perry would not disavow Jeffress.

"The governor does not agree with every single issue of people that endorsed him or people that he meets," Miner said. "This political rhetoric from Gov. Romney isn't going to create one new job or help the economy..."

That is a big fat lie. Value Voters Summitt selected him to introduce Perry. Perry or his campaign had nothing whatsoever to do with it. Romney needs to grow up...the fact he is acting like a crybaby labels him a dem in disguise...spoiled little rich kid.

I didn't think just anyone could get in. I have a recent distant cousin (met through genealogy), turns out she converted to the Mormans. She told me she was a CARD carrying Morman, which I suppose means she can get in the Temple. Who knows, and I didn't ask, sounds creepy, just when did Jesus himself hide under a rock?

There is a Morman Temple in my neighborhood, they had a public open house when it was built, BUT I heard that they installed new carpet due to the infidels walking on the other. I did not attend, and would never want to step foot in that CULT religion.

Here is what I believe brought my cousin to being a Morman, she is just plain srewed up in the head, nice lady, BUT. Seems she was raised Baptist, and she had two mothers. As a young girl listening to the truth of Christ and his teaching of sin, by being a Baptist, and then trying to reconcile all that with the living conditions at home, messed her mind up. Mormanisn fit the bill. Weak minds will always fall for anything.

Now, tell me this: What's in this Cult religion for Women? The men get their own planet to be the GOD of, (rofl), but what do the women get? Servitude? Stupid women.

Any pastor who wouldn’t state that Mormonism is a cult isn’t a Christian pastor. Any person who expands the bands of Christian orthodoxy to include Mormonism doesn’t understand Christianity.

There are many questions mormons are not allowed to ask. One is “If the Angel of Moroni is dead, whey is he still an angel and not a god with his own planet?

I want to ask Mitt “If bigamy is wrong, will you personally condemn the practice even though the church does not CONDEMN it. For if you do, you condemn your founder and say that he was wrong.”

And

“Warren Jeffs is a cult leader. He’s also LDS. There is a large LDS cult that operates in Salt Lake City and are worth millions. So will you at least say that there are cults within the LDS?”

And finally “Why do women not get the same reward in paradise as that of men?” This question will definitely be asked by the NOW gang over and over.
