The Catholic Lectionary Website
compiled by Felix Just, S.J., Ph.D.

Introduction / Purpose: Many other websites provide easy access to the scripture readings assigned to particular Sundays and/or Weekdays in the Lectionaries of various Christian denominations (see my Links page). For the full text of the readings for the current and upcoming months in the Roman Catholic liturgy, see especially the website of the USCCB.

In contrast, this website provides comprehensive tables of the scripture readings from several Latin and English editions of the Catholic Lectionary for Mass, so that you can easily obtain an overview of all the readings used in a particular liturgical season (Advent, Christmas, etc.) and/or in a particular year of Ordinary Time (Sundays in Years A, B, C;  Weekdays in Years I & II). Cross-references and comparative analyses are also provided to enable you more easily see the differences between various editions of the Lectionary for Mass. For printed editions of the Lectionary and related resources, see also my Bibliography page.

Someone asked a question on another thread about how the readings for today -- 9/11 -- were so applicable. Since readings are chosen ahead of time, I think I could honestly say, this was God's will for today. But feel free to explore how the readings are scheduled.

This will obviously change a little as a new translation is adopted, but as I understand, the readings may not change that much. But you can discern quickly that this website needs to be updated......and perhaps they are in the process of doing that.

Guess we will have to wait and see on that one.

Blessings to you all.
