Thank you for the ping. There is alot to digest.

Russia is still a threat with Putin in Power. I met the Mother of the personal guard for Kissinger. She recalls her son being very amazed at the ego of Putin. Very selfish person. Also very evil. Kissenger goes to each country of interest during a year.

Some of this prophecy matches up with non catholic visions.

Yes, and don't forget What Pope Benedict Fears

In an article published on the internet in three parts beginning on May 21 and concluding on June 22, the writer Antonio Margheriti Mastino presents what he says are the words and thoughts of Spanish Cardinal Antonio Canizares Llovera, currently the Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship in the Vatican.

Among the many interesting statements made in this report, one stands out: the statement that Pope Benedict, who is known to regard Canizares with favor, told Canizares personally meeting that he (Benedict) has three great fears:

(1) The secularization within the Church;

(2) The peaceful invasion of Europe by Islam;

(3) The ever-greater control -- and the next words are within quotation marks, meaning Margheriti Mastino is presenting these words as an exact quotation of what Cardinal Canizares said to him -- "of freemasonry on the cultural level and of the centers of power of the European Union."

Russia is not the USSR. That makes them more dangerous.

I must wonder if Fr. Z's post today has broader implications:

11 September 2011

“Those great strong towers of ice and steel”

In the late 1940′s Thomas Merton published his complicated poem Figures For An Apocalypse.  One of the sections of the poem is entitled “In the Ruins of New York“.

While the whole section concerns a great downfall, a city and way of life overturned in materialism, there are some striking lines which – when isolated – call to mind the horror of 11 September 2001.

Oh how quiet it is after the black night
When flames out of the clouds burned down your cariated teeth,
And when those lightnings,
Lancing the black boils of Harlem and the Bronx,
Spilled the remaining prisoners,
(The tens and twenties of the living)
Into the trees of Jersey,
To the green farms, to find their liberty.

How are they down, how have they fallen down
Those great strong towers of ice and steel,
And melted by what terror and what miracle?
What fires and lights tore down,
With the white anger of their sudden accusation,
Those towers of silver and of steel?

From Figures For An Apocalypse, VI – In the Ruins of New York (1947) by Thomas Merton

I have posted this excerpt on 9/11 over the past few years, since about 2005 when I first inserted it into a column for The Wanderer.  Inevitably someone protests that Merton wasn’t saying this or that, blah blah blah.  Yes, critics, we all know that.  Take your meds and breathe calmly.  Merton was not a “prophet”, anticipating an act of terror. 9/11 was not an apocalypse except perhaps for those who went to their Judge that day.  Islamist terrorists were not executing the just judgments of God on the United States.  They were agents of Satan.  The content of poem does not line up perfectly with the events ten years ago today.  But the imagery of the poem is, for me, evocative.

When I pass through the words of this poem, I cannot help but recall watching the collapse of “those great strong towers of ice and steel”.  And vice versa.  When I see the video of the WTC collapsing, this poem comes to my mind.

The whole poem, even just the section of “In the Ruins of New York” is worth your time.  Merton paints the ugly with beautiful images.  Other moments of his poem are now striking, given the global economic downturn and hard days we will be facing because of imprudence and greed.  Consider this:

“This was a city
That dressed herself in paper money.
She lived four hundred years
With nickels running in her veins.
She loved the waters of the seven purple seas,
And burned on her own green harbor
Higher and whiter than ever any Tyre.
She was as callous as a taxi;
Her high-heeled eyes were sometimes blue as gin,
And she nailed them, all the days of her life,
Through the hearts of her six million poor.
Now she has died in the terrors of a sudden contemplation
- Drowned in the waters of her own, her poisoned well.”

But now the moon is paler than a statue.
She reaches out and hangs her lamp
In the iron trees of this destroyed Hesperides.
And by that light, under the caves that once were banks and theaters,
The hairy ones come out to play….

The hairy ones come out to play…

Think of riots in Greece as their economy falls to pieces.  Think of London and other cities in the UK. Cities in the USA as well.  Think of your neighborhood.

Sts. Nunilo and Alodia, pray for us.

Agreed. There is no better book for a Catholic understanding of the history of Catholic prophecy, from the times of the Apostles till now.

Between reading this prophecy and the three days of darkness, its a wonder why we even get up out of bed in the morning.

Obviously I’m not being serious, but it is very sobering.

We helped clean out the basement of an old church last year that had been sold then resold. Brought home a small pew for our home chapel, and a huge Rubbermaid container full of old half burned beeswax altar candles, including numerous old Easter candles.

We have enough blessed candles for three months of darkness ;-)

We inherited the home altar of a friend, a retired Byzantine priest, along with his prie-dieus. He said the Divine Liturgy on this altar in his home daily after he retired:

(Unfortunately, one of our cats knocked over the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary in May. We had it set up at the foot of our stairs for a May altar, and we think the cat was chasing a moth when it jumped on it. It completely shattered, so we're looking for a replacement.)

Hermeneutic of Fatima: Let the tail (the SSPX) wag the dog (CDF.)

By Brian Kopp

From a September 23, 2009 post:

The developments in Vatican relations with both the SSPX and the Eastern Orthodox may best be understood neither through a "Hermeneutic of Continuity" nor a "Hermeneutic of Rupture," but through a Hermeneutic of Fatima:

If you were the pope, in the twilight of your career, a true son of VII, yet you could see the severe problems that have wracked the Church since VII, what would you do? If you had a deep seated fear that the Church would continue its moral decline if nothing is done, what would you do? If you truly believed the actions of the Vatican regarding Fatima were, at the time, honest and forthright, but now you had a real doubt that all was not as it seemed then, what would you do?

You would look at the most important aspects of the Message of Fatima that may not have been addressed, and you would systematically work to undo the damage.

1) Restore the TLM.

2) Propose a reconsideration and reinterpretation of VII.

3) Figure out a way to bring Russia back into the fold.

How?

1) Summorum Pontificum

2) Lift the SSPX excommunications, and task them with addressing the problems of VII. Put them directly in contact with the CDF. Let the tail (the SSPX) wag the dog (CDF.) Then let the CDF wag the Church.

3) Make real moves towards reuniting Eastern Orthodoxy, and use the Grace of that unity to fight the errors of post-Christian western decay.

This may be the interpretive key to truly understanding the "Marshall Plan" of Pope Benedict XVI.

This "Hermeneutic of Fatima" continues apace, it seems.

In May, 2010, the Pope "reopened  the file on the Third Secret of Fatima," declaring:
Beyond this great vision of the suffering of the Pope, which we can in substance refer to John Paul II, are indicated future realities of the Church which are little by little developing and revealing themselves. Thus it is true that beyond the moment indicated in the vision, one speaks, one sees, the necessity of a passion of the Church that naturally is reflected in the person of the Pope; but the Pope is in the Church, and therefore the sufferings of the Church are announced…. As for the novelty that we can discover today in this message,  it is that attacks on the Pope and the Church do not come only from outside, but the sufferings of the Church come precisely from within the Church, from sins that exist in the Church. This has always been known, but today we see it in a really terrifying way: that the greatest persecution of the Church does not come from enemies outside, but arises from sin in the Church.

Now, see the post at Rorate-Caeli, Tectonic Shifts: For the Roman Curia, the end of the "super-Council" as well as the Missa in Latino post, Il contenuto del 'preambolo dottrinale' presentato alla FSSPX, Google Translation: The contents of the 'doctrine Preamble' presented to the SSPX

And what about the more "apocalyptic" parts of Fatima that were either forgotten or never fully revealed? See our last post, For fourth anniversary of Summorum Pontificum, Pope draws attention to little known prophecies of Venerable Elena Aiello

**‘My Heart is sad for so many sufferings in an impending world in ruin. The justice of Our Father is most offended. Men live in their obstinacy of sin. The wrath of God is near. Soon the world will be afflicted with great calamities, bloody revolutions, frightful hurricanes, and the overflowing of streams and the seas’.**

This was 1954 — is it happening, folks

I, too, think that we have not been given the full Third Secret. Some of it, yes, but not all of it.
