Sometimes folks have to READ what's on the wall!

Sometimes folks READ but don't necessarily BELIEVE all that is on said wall!

re: I also lived in Utah and was LDS)))

Uh, huh.

I'm breaking my rule. I was going to get out of here.

These were young people I talked to, tweens and teebs, not adults. If people proclaim the power of Jesus Christ, I don't think they're lying just to fool me. And if taquiyeh is doctrine in Mormonism, I missed that.

And if taquiyeh is doctrine in Mormonism, I missed that.

It's found in the "...and so forth." phrases...

The Articles of Faith
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

  1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
  2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
  3. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
  4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
  5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
  6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
  7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
  8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
  9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
  10. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may
  11. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
  12. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

And if they proclaim the 'power' of their church?

It is highly discouraging to fall into a religion thread on FR. Cranks, baseless accusations, rants, self-righteousness and, frankly, a general lack of Christian charity.

I'd ike to know if all of you, put together, have advanced Jesus Christ as much as Beck has. Which of you can look at his advocacy of Israel and not be impressed?

Distressing.

what?

What claim?

The claim that this board doesn’t know what a personal attack is?

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/personal_attack

personal attack

Making of an abusive remark instead of providing evidence when examining another person’s claims or comments.

Of course I suspect that you have another definition for this too, but I am not going to argue it. Suffice to say, under any popular definition of this word, you are engaging in these type of attacks.

http://www.catholic.com/thisrock/quickquestions/keyword/St.%20Augustine
I read that Christ did not say, “Love the sinner, hate the sin.” Who did?
It’s from St. Augustine. His Letter 211 (c. 424) contains the phrase Cum dilectione hominum et odio vitiorum, which translates roughly to “With love for mankind and hatred of sins.” The phrase has become more famous as “love the sinner but hate the sin” or “hate the sin and not the sinner” (the latter form appearing in Mohandas Gandhi’s 1929 autobiography).

If you want to learn more about what I have talked about, please continue to learn more by reading more about how St. Augustine lived.

I can’t really help you guys.

You can say, that this or that is an evil practice but to presume you are judge and executioner isn’t very Jesus Like.

Look at the other apostles, look at the Saints. There is a long tradition on this topic.

Beck has only advanced the cause of a false Christ, so your statement is completely without merit.

You continue to make false statements that posters have condemned or acted as “executioner” during this thread. Instead, the discussion has centered around the false teachings of mormonism and why a public figure, such as Beck, who has endorsed mormonism should not be trusted.

Other apostles like Paul absolutely judged other people. Look at his letters to the Corinthians where he called for the removal of a person from the fellowship (banishment), so your statement isn’t supported by Scripture.

Accusations of that sort, if it turns out you are wrong, are spiritually parlous.

I can see here the fruits of YOUR spirit, and I can't say I'm impressed with the obsessive crankery.

You don’t get it.

As soon as you are mentioning someone’s name with everything you are saying about the Mormon Faith, you are projecting all of that on to him.

This is judging.

The penalties for this are well understood.

You just don’t want to face up to it, but you know it is true and this is the reason so many people attacked me.

The author never had to mention Glen Beck’s Name, but did so that everyone could have a target to vent their vitriol to. Just had to have a face to go with this article, it is a trick used in Muslim Countries.

It is like Glen Beck is the effigy stand in for Mormonism, lets all circle round and beat him to death.

This type of writing isn’t what I would expect on a religious forum. A electronic lynching.

Inmen,

Someone chime in if they want to add or correct the following..

At that age they have already had years of mormon doctrine in “primary” (mormon Sunday School and childrens church)

The boys became mormon priests at age 12 and attended “priesthood” meetings ay least once a week

The boys were members of mormon boy scouts for years where they were taught to be mormon missionaries

During high school or before they had to go to mormon educational classes every morning BEFORE school.. (cant remember the term)

Indoctrtination starts early in mormonism and the minds of mnush of the children is satuated with it...

Heres a living example...

When my children were young we went to church next to a mormon ward house...

as we came in fron the parking lot the mormon children would line the fence and “cat call” to my children and the other Christian families..

The mormon children would shout “Youre goung to Hell because youre not a mormon” etc

The Mormon adults would stand back closer to their building and egg the children on

My 2 year old daughter would scream with fright and the mormons would laugh at her...

If we had a mormon candidate who were a conservative (as I would define) I would vote for them. However, it will not actually ever be the case. I have much experience with mormonISM and mormons, the reality is they are not as they present themselves.

Ypu mean kind of like how some mormons use Billy Graham as “a target to vent their vitriol” against Christians ???

Accusations of that sort, if it turns out are correct, validates my comments. You haven’t proved my accusation to be false, yet you have already judged me to be a crank.

Seems like the fruit of YOUR spirit is not very impressive.

No I doubt it

Beck is not a good Mormon yet...

after all hes not a “royal” mormon from a first family

Hes not a BIC or a TBM

Even Mormons have their own form of standards...

Only Becks celebrity and money keeps him in with the Mormons...

In the 12 step Mormon program, Beck is about Step Three...

Does he have a temple recommend yet ???

Does he belong to the priesthood ???
