I can abide hearing the LDS called a cult who aren't really Christians, but to call all Mormons evil? I've known Mormons who are good people despite their wacky beliefs, and there's a good number of LDS Freepers as well.
Like I told you before, as a non-religious person I find transubstantiation and young Earth creationism just as wacky as anything the Mormons believe, but I've never called all Catholics evil just because some of them believe that wine magically turns into blood.
You've drifted into derangement I'm afraid.
GunRunner, CAWW didn't label "all" Mormons (you've extended his argument). He said "devout" Mormons. There's a LOT of different kinds of Mormons: Jack (inactive) Mormons; social Mormons; cafeteria Mormons; all of these are just plain non-temple Mormons who comprise approximately 80% of Mormons.
The "devout" Mormons CAWW referenced are "devout" Mormons -- temple Mormons. These are the only Mormons who think they are gods-in-embryo on their way to becoming gods. They are the ones with the temple recommends.
And more to wit of caww's comment, they have been more likely to serve a two-year mission. (It's one thing to believe things that result in your own spiritual death; it's another to spend two years full-time exporting it so that you bring others with you into it). Lds has 52,000+ missionaries out there all the time.
Therefore, to provide some context into CAWW's feelings, I think you would need to consider what Jesus said about the legalists of His day [I believe temple Mormons are the ultimate legalists of our day]:
Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are." (Jesus, Matthew 23:15)
Caww, you're taking this anti-Mormon hatred a little far aren't you? [GunRunner]
In light of Matthew 23:15 & other verses, you're not going to also start accusing Jesus of anti-Pharisee hatred, are you?
Did you NOT get the MEMO???

If Catholic belief in miracles is “wacky,” how is this? Aren’t miracles supposed to be extremely implausible? If miracles weren’t extremely implausible, would they even be miracles?
The prior Pope said that everything that we know through science must be believed and, furthermore, that what is known through science, should shape our understanding of special revelation. There is an emerging view that one of the meanings of monotheism is that all knowledge speaks to the same truth, and no valid discipline can contradict another valid discipline. To dispute this would be to usher in chaos.
Albert Einstein thought about this, and said that he believed in objective reality. He said, a scientist searches for an answer because he believes there is an answer. He said, this belief was essentially a religious belief.
Certainly, Einstein was not enamored with religious ritual or untestable hypotheses such as whether Jesus is present in the Eucharist the way Catholics say, or the way Baptists say. But, he was an off-the-scale genius. Sacraments serve the purposes of a wider range of humans.
If you are so smart that you can see the goodness in the Ten Commandments, and in treating others as you would want, or perhaps I should say as you should want to be treated yourself, good for you. But, the overwhelming majority of us find our faith traditions to be useful guides to life and to be comforting.
The question, on this thread, concerns Mormon belief that all other Christians are apostate. How could somebody seek to be President, in a democracy, saying the people he’s asking to vote for him are apostates. It would kind of be like you asking Catholics, whom you think are wacky, to vote for you. As a general rule, people don’t like being accused of being apostates or wacky or the anti-Christ (to bring Michele Bachmann’s faith problem into this thread).
