If a doctrine is not supported by Scripture (e.g., Purgatory), then no amount of “experience” will prove it to be orthodox.

Regardless this person’s experience, the concept Purgatory defames Jesus Christ; it is a false doctrine.

While I might agree academically with you, such an experience indicates a spiritual perception and a report through faith in Christ.

God the Holy Spirit magnifies Christ and there might be significant meaning for the believer with that spiritual gift to perceive what he has reported.

IMHO, its a good indication that perhaps we should study the Scripture which is used to allude to Purgatory and such awaiting spirits to better understand their significance by the guidance of God the Holy Spirit in our studies,

And yet, purgatory, or the term preferred by Evangelicals, "final sanctification" does not "defame Jesus Christ" in any way because

  1. This is by the blood of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit, the grace of the Father

  2. Those who are in this process of final sanctification/purgatory are those who have already been saved by the grace of God, by our Lord and God, Jesus Christ's one-time sacrifice on the cross

  3. This final sanctification/purgatory is not for the damned as they have already made their choice -- rejecting God

  4. Those in the final sanctification/purgatory have already accepted God -- as we know each will be rewarded immediately after death based on their choices (note of course that this is for the New Covenant that was sealed with Christ's death on the cross -- all that happened before that, including the good thief's redemption is part of the Old Covenant).

  5. Those who receive/are in the process of receiving the final sanctificaiton/purgatory are assured of their final salvation by the grace of God, by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the blood of the Lamb, our Lord and God Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross

  6. This is not a punishment,

  7. this is not a place

  8. this is not a period of time

  9. 1 Pt 3:18-20 "19By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;", 1 Pet 4:6 " 6For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead,", Matt 12:32 "but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come." --> a sin to be forgiven not in this world -- hence sins are forgiven by Christ after death -- and this can't be heaven where there are no sins. Hence there is the final sanctification by the blood of the Lamb before heaven
