Gays outraged at Catholic rally plans

THE Border’s homosexual community has hit back at organisers of a rally against same-sex marriage, saying the protest is futile.

Albury members of the Wagga Catholic Diocese will hire buses to travel to Parliament House in Canberra next month to “stand up for traditional marriage”.

But Hume Phoenix male convenor Steve Onley said members of his social support group were disappointed.

“The anger stems from people again dictating to a minority group that we can’t do what we want to do,” he said.

“The protest is futile because as far as I’m concerned the laws are going to pass, it’s only a matter of time and people just need to get used to the idea.

“It will take a while but it’s not constructive having these anti-gay marriage rallies because it is inevitable; they’re just wasting their time.”

Mr Onley, who has been engaged to his partner Paul for more than three years, said same-sex marriage should not be regarded as a religious issue.

“I think religion needs to be taken out of the argument, it should be a civil decision,” he said.

“My partner and I don’t want to get married in a church, we just want the equal rights we’ve been striving for and to have these rallies against us is really disappointing.”

Mr Onley said the protest showed the church was “out of touch” with society and was becoming less relevant in modern times.

“I think religion needs to be taken out of the argument, it should be a civil decision,” he said.

“My partner and I don’t want to get married in a church, we just want the equal rights we’ve been striving for and to have these rallies against us is really disappointing.”

The Bittersweet Victory: Why Gay Marriage Still Isn't Marriage

Marriage without a church or temple wedding isn't the real thing. Why can some people have all the bells and whistles in the church of their choice but not me? Of course, there have been and will be congregations and churches that allow gay men and lesbians to be married in their midst and to bless those unions, recognizing that God loves them just as much as Governor Andrew Cuomo does. But some rich and influential religious institutions are not only free to continue to reject gay men and women as equal beneficiaries of all aspects of faith but will now also rally their congregants to reject politicians who are willing to abide with this extension of secular civil rights — no matter how much acceptance there is of same-sex marriage elsewhere, no matter how many wedding announcements appear in the New York Times.
I write this as a deeply religious Christian who is pained that the church that otherwise provides me with so much spiritual comfort and joy will never allow me to marry within its walls. Some clerics may be "liberal" enough to turn a blind eye to gay relationships so long as they do not have to recognize them, much less grant them any kind of imprimatur. And as of now, even in New York, religious institutions cannot be compelled to perform such a simple act of charity.

This Australian homosexual doesn't want a church marriage.

Until "homosexual marriage" is passed.

I personally think code pink is a waste of time but I fought for their right to protest so in my eyes if they want to make fools of themselves based on their beliefs then I have done my duty and provided them a world where they can make fools of themselves.

If gays want to faggify America they have the freedom to do so as much as they can. Just don’t whine and bitch like little pussies when you encounter resistance. The phrase “not in my backyard” comes to mind. I’m sick of towing the lines for queers as much as I am for politicians. So with this rant I reserve the right to call gay people ...well...gay. And I get tired of your incessant whining about not being accepted. Grow up. STFU. And stop trying to be accepted and noticed. You’ll get more respect and noticed more if you’d QUIT THROWING IT IN MY FACE!!!

If I am a Homophobe , are not all gays Heterophobes?

They’re phobic of criticism, I say phobic, because people criticize all over America, all over the forums, etc. If I don’t like criticism, I can shut off the web browser, shut off the TV, and so forth, but it appears people with a double-standard wish to go without any criticism of what they do at all. Sorry, but I will criticize the kinds of behaviors that gays use to characterize themselves on a regular basis, just like I have my criticisms of the other sects and cults in Christianity, just like I criticize political ideologies too, dealing with the homo agenda is like dealing with children trapped in adult bodies, can’t take the fact that somewhere criticism exists against them when they can have an option to ignore it.
