I have come to know my Savior Jesus Christ and the power of the atonement in my life. I have been forgiven of my sins and continually try to live the best life I can. Trying to abide by the “greatest commandment” and love my neighbors and fellow man. I try to do good deeds and raise a good law abiding family. So far, so good.

Put on the decoder ring ben. I've pointed out from mormon doctrine that 'continually try(ing) to live the best life' is not adequate for the grace of Jesus. That statement also falls far below your earlier bleat about how well you live the commandments. Which one is it - and what does mormon doctrine say? You know the answer.

How are you forgiven of your sin ben? Mormon doctrine tells me you can't be forgiven in your sins (ALMA 11:37). Mormon doctrine tells me that Jesus' grace for salvation only comes after YOU have removed ALL sin from your life (MORONI 10:32, DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS 58:43).

I can't make these things up Ben. Does you statement above match what your church doctrine teaches from above.

How can the God of Mormonism promise you forgiveness when he holds you accountable for every sin you repeatedly commit?

If your sin debt couldn't be repaid to heavenly father, what make you think you have the ability pay the debt to Jesus? And remember what Isaiah said about how heavenly father views such works.

and if your man who became a god was real he still couldnt bless his way out of a paper bag

Your phony “blessings” are just that...phony

and prideful...

God will bless people without you directing Him

He blesses the “good” and He blesses the sinner...

But I repeat myself

There are none good only God

We are all sinners...

Some of us and saved by Grace...

and then there are others who think themselves too “good” to need God’s mercy...

But I already explainewd that “good” thingy...

Anyway kid...

God sent you to us...

and for once quite a few are in this thread...

See how God woks

(The Christian god...the Almighty and capable of saving to the uttermnost with His Blood one

not the punny victim man thingy mormon god who cant save everyone...well cant save anyone...)

You are fortunate that He had mercy on you and did so

Most here wouldnt have given you the time of day...

Nobody likes a smart butt..

So just read what the merciful FReepers have given you

and read the Bible for understanding and not a “works” assignment

Everybody was where you are now

Ignorant, unlearned, a know-it-all, far from God, atheist

But God works miracles of salvation and healing...

and He will for you too

If you ask Him

and if you let Him

Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you know not. Jeremiah 33:3

Like most LDS, you don’t get it isnt’ about a ‘sect’ or a ‘church’, it is about CHRIST. Most of us here belong to a wide variety of churches, but we all agree on the basics - the person, nature and work of Jesus Christ (including the Trinity). Things the LDS do not agree on which is why they are not Christian.

The true Church of Christ isn’t a denomination, it is the universal body of all believes who are saved by grace alone, through faith alone. But the LDS never get that. Don’t worry, I didn’t get it either when I was LDS. Stick around and you may learn something.

And yes, this is another Mormon Lie

Well admitting it is the first step to leaving Mormonism.

Mormons lie so effortlessly that they oftimes don’t even realize that they are lying.

Try NOT being an idiot. I start at the beginning of Matthew and read all the way to the of Acts and start over.

(shaking head) - nana this is akin to 0bama's 57 state quote. The NT has 27 books all together, not the 5 referred to here by Ben. That is unless the Gospels and Acts were books NOT covered by the instructor.

I dont’ believe that either. And I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, the universal body of those saved by grace, which covers many denominations.

Again, you just don’t get it.

And my argument about BYU is dead on accurate. Those with degrees from BYU in fields like Religion, Archeology, and History are not widely accepted outside Mormonism.

Not wrong in the least. You cannot seriously investigate Mormonism and buy into it, not if you have half a brain and certainly not if you are really familiar with the arguments and evidence against it.

There is no address. Christ didn’t set up a denomination and apparently you have no idea what the Greek word for ‘church’ acutally means.

I found Christ in the Bible alone, not a church. I have attended several denominations (all Christian and all part of the Church Universal) over the years, so it doesn’t really matter where I attend now, does it?

Well I suppose it depends on how you define ‘paid’. Stipends and percentages of tithing (which was very common) are means of payment as are the moneys the GA’s get for these fake board seats they hold on LDS companies (average one million per year per apostle).

Colo knows his stuff and his research is always spot on.

You may want to check out the book “The Mormon Corporate Empire” for more detailed info and sources however.

Can you blame a Mormon for not allowing their mind to record the truth of what their false prophet taught?

- - - -
Yes and no. Yes because it is their salvation on the line and it grieves me that they would rather live a comfortable lie than really search the truth.

No, because the brainwashing is very intensive and deep. The clutches of Mormonism are hard to escape, which is proof it is the demonic cult we know it to be.

Perhaps they are taught to fall back on that ‘little white lie’ when they’re losing credulity.

- - - - -
Quite possibly. I probably made the claim myself when I was LDS. Lies like that give street cred in LDS circles and are an ego boost to those in Mormonism.

No, I am not on drugs. Never have been. Sandy refers to a LDS person who used to frequent these threads, Willard refers to Romney.

And you can protest all you want, but I still don’t believe it. I have known too many atheists and too many LDS to fall for the ‘I used to be an atheist anti-mormon’. They just don’t exist unless they grew up in the LDS church, left and THEN became an atheist. Atheists don’t convert to Mormonism and certainly don’t waste their time fighting Mormons.

The LDS don’t have any idea what the ‘atonement’ really is. Good deeds will get you nowhere but Hell. They can’t save you, they can’t even contribute. And how can you be sure you have been forgiven (past tense) of all your sins. How do you know you have repented? Even your own prophet Spencer Kimball says that is impossible. Perhaps you need to read “The Miracle of Forgiveness” to see how impossible it really is.

I have been forgiven, not because of anything I do, but because of what CHRIST ALREADY DID.

Mormon teaching is that Christ is our mortgage broker and we have to work to pay him back. Do you want the sources for that? I can provide them. Basically LDS theology turns Christ into a LOAN SHARK and that isn’t the Christ of the Bible at all.

Do you knwo what your works are to God? FILTHY RAGS (lit. used menstrual clothes). So, try all you want, but it won’t get you anywhere. And, frankly, Gozilla is right, you have broken several commandments here tonight, and if you break one you have broken them all, so it looks like all your ‘good works’ just went out the window and thus you are headed straight for Hell. Funny how a gospel of works works that way.

I read from the New Testament every day

- - - - -
Reading it through Mormon glasses doesn’t help. It only reinforces the deception.

And why read something that is so full of errors and unreliable (and I can source those teachings by the LDS as well).

If he served a mission he’s been through the temple. I suspect he knows it but just keeps spouting the same old pat answers that they are told to respond.

Mormon missions are perfect training grounds for ‘lying for the Lord’.

More ad hominum attacks? really? pathetic. I didn’t respond because I hadn’t gotten there yet. And there is no address to give, the church is the church universal, not a denomination.

You are the coward, can’t even defend your faith. That is sad.

You have done NOTHING but name call all day, not looking good for LDS inc.

And try reading PAST acts, like Romans and Hebrews. Both are great for shooting down Mormon doctrine in flames.

And try reading a KJV that is NOT put out by your church. One without footnotes and ‘helps’. God can open your eyes, but you have to take of the Mormon blinders first.

Now, how does my statement of John 1:1 countering LDS theology (and it does I can prove that) make me ‘full of rage’ and mentally ill? Seriously. That makes NO sense.

I suspect you aren’t talking to me anymore because I am hitting some hot buttons.

C’mon. Lets debate. I can prove any unique LDS doctrine is contrary to the Bible, just using the Bible.
