... the Catholic Church continues to teach that homosexual acts are "acts of grave depravity" (CCC, par. 2357) and that homosexual desires are "objectively disordered" (CCC, par 2358):
There have been many last straws for Richard Iandoli.
He was stung when his churchs hierarchy disparaged adoptions by gay couples, when his church emerged as a political leader against same-sex marriage, and by the way his church refers to homosexuality as disordered.
Earlier this month, the insult was more personal: The Boston Archdiocese stepped in and postponed an All are Welcome Mass to commemorate Gay Pride Month at Iandolis church, St. Cecilia on Belvidere Street in Boston.
It hits you in the gut, Iandoli said. And he has wondered: What am I doing here?
Yet, like many gay and lesbian Roman Catholics, Iandoli refuses to walk away from his church, even when he feels that church leaders dont want him. ...
The churchs position runs so counter to the growing acceptance of same-sex relationships that some gay Catholics say they are more bashful about their religious orientation than their sexuality.
It was harder for me in my 20s to come out as a Catholic than as a gay person, said Constance Cervone, 54, of Jamaica Plain.
The article, "Worship in the face of rejection" (Boston Globe, June 27, 2011) goes on and on in the same vein, with angry references to "the far-right conservative hierarchy" and the declaration by one man, Domenic Stagno, that "Even though the hierarchy has gone astray from the times of Christ, Im not going to let them take my church away from me. I've long held the silly belief that the Catholic Church was founded by and belongs to Jesus Christ, and now I learn it is actually the Church of Domenic Stagno. Why didn't someone mention it to me before?
Dave Pierre of TheMediaReport.com notes that this article is just the latest of a series of such pieces in the Globe; he writes:
From all of this coverage in the past few weeks, one would get the impression that the Globe thinks that the Catholic Church is alone in its opposition to gay marriage. Meanwhile, Orthodox Judaism, Islam, and many Protestant churches also hold the same disapproval. The paper has not profiled any of these organizations in the same negative manner, however.
The message from the Globe is clear: gay 'marriage' is good, faithful Catholicism is bad.
(Additional note: There is an interesting element to an accompanying online video to the Globe's front-page piece (Mon., 6/27/11). For the video, the paper interviews two gay men who attend Boston's aforementioned St. Cecilia. Both men not only rail against Church teaching but explicitly say that a main reason that they remain active parishioners is to "change the Church." There's a lot to swallow there. And for serious Catholics, this is somewhat sobering.)
I found this sentence particularly interesting. The writer notes that it's the church that's running counter, rather than the sin running counter to the church's teachings. It's as though he's suggesting that the church is somehow in the wrong for not caving to a changing society.
And anyone who thinks that God should change His moral laws just because society changes its attitudes about those laws is a fool. God is not mocked.
This is a time for ALL of us to join our voices as one, The lone democratic dissenting Senator Diaz, is an Evangelical minister. He could certainly benefit from a few words of thanks and support for the actions he is presently exploring to overturn this bill. You can read his reaction at the following link.
(NY Senator) Diaz Says Christians 'Pray Too Much and Act Too Little'
Thank you, again, for posting that link! May God have mercy on us all.
They are anything but shocked.
I just don’t get it.
They claim to be Catholic. Being Catholic means accepting all that the church teaches, believing it to be TRUTH without ERROR. Why then do they want to change it?
One receives the Eucharist because one is Catholic, one is not Catholic merely because they go to communion.
Well, I am shocked and outraged that the queers are violating the first amendment by inserting their POLITICAL views into my RELIGION.
We need to change the argument. Marriage is not a legal institution, it is a Christian sacrament and a religious rite. My husband and I didn’t get married for legal reasons, we got married because it is a covenant between us and God. Any legal protections (given for the protections of children anyway) stem from the fact that it was a Sacrament first.
By the queers (and I know enough to know they are all queer) insisting on gay marriage they are making a political pawn out of my faith and that is government interference in religion.
homosexual acts are “acts of grave depravity”.
Sounds about right to me.
I watched an excellent show earlier today on EWTN regarding this topic.

Well worth watching.
While they may have the 'appearance' of utter confidence, I suspect that what is driving them is desperation. They have thus far not been able to counter the true 'vox populi', but have only been able to suborn legislatures and courts to their will. They never won a true public referendum, and likely feel they never will.
Thus they will 'strike while the iron is hot', building on this 'victory' in NY. One can already see what is coming, if one takes the time to look...

I will gladly accept my persecution for my Roman Catholic faith. My Church is built on The Rock and it will never back down to this evil. Thank you, Lord!
Well goody for them. The good news is that they are free to leave the Church or not join in the first place. They would be happy in the Episcopal church (which I recently left), the ELCA or some part of the Presbyterian. I know, I know, the point doesn’t have anything to do with choice, it’s all about the absolute demand that their “lifestyle” not be just tolerated but absolutely accepted and promoted by everyone and everything.
wow. Beautiful.. Succinct.
Son, if you were face to face with Jesus right now, he would tell you what he told the prostitute, "Go and sin no more.".
Yes, it is a planned invasion. Just today a group posing as a Southern Baptist organization pulled off an elaborate hoax that claimed that the Southern Baptist Convention was on the verge of formally supporting "gay marriage" and repenting of its stance on homosexuality, and the hoax backed up the false claim with a press release, phone number and website. The FR article is here.
They were able to fool one major Catholic blog who had posted the release as legitimate but then quickly pulled it.
And aren't they supposed to go to confession first in order to receive communion? I wonder if they leave the part of their homosexual activities out during confession? Do they somehow think God will ignore their duplicity?
There should never have been a Mass planned to commemorate Gay Pride Week, and whoever in the Parish authorized it needs to be kicked in the butt, THEN read the Catechism.
Yep, so there should be NO compromise with them, in the Church.
One should not go to confession without the intent of true repentance and a resolve not to sin again.
One cannot openly live and promote a homosexual lifestyle and think going to confession every week or whenever is all that is needed.
The same is true for any sin. God wants true repentance. And God knows all that one may choose not to disclose or to forget or refuse to admit even to themselves.
I truly believe that a lot of people have been duped by Satan through the use of popular culture and “spiritualism” to think that they may sin with impunity presuming God’s forgiveness.
Again, true for all manner of sin, not just homosexuality.

I agree. I asked because, just as pro-abortion politicians attend their church services and participate in its sacraments with impunity, I wondered why these homosexuals could still be involved with their church and not be faced with church discipline as outlined in Scripture. A homosexual lifestyle, if out of the closet and known, is something a loving pastor/priest and fellow members should and must help those caught up in it to be free of that life of sin. Living in blatant sin is prohibitive to a victorious life of glorifying God and bringing praise to his name. It is instead a great cause of shame to a church and an inroad of the devil into perverting others.
I think the only way any church can make a stand for righteousness is to openly teach the holiness in which God demands that his flock dwell. To some, looking away from sin seems loving and kind, but, as you say, it is an evil ploy that Satan uses to corrupt the church from within and causes great shame to all those who name the name of Christ. Certainly, we should never turn anyone away who is genuinely seeking to know the Lord, but we should not omit the message Jesus gave the woman caught in adultery, "Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.". That is truly loving people in Christ.
