Judge Slams Jesuits for "Sham" Efforts to Control Pedophile Priest Donald McGuire
San Francisco Weekly ^ | June 23, 2011 | Peter Jamison

Posted on 06/23/2011 8:32:24 PM PDT by Dr. Eckleburg

An Illinois judge sharply criticized the Jesuit order in a ruling issued yesterday for not taking adequate steps to rein in defrocked priest and twice-convicted child molester Donald McGuire, asserting that McGuire was preying on teenage boys "right under the noses" of his superiors and that rules established to protect minors from him were "a sham."

The ruling allows punitive damages to be levied against the Jesuits if they lose a lawsuit over McGuire's four-decade career as a predator priest that is now pending in Cook County Circuit Court. The lawsuit names as a defendant the Chicago Province of the Jesuits, where McGuire was technically based. McGuire -- an eminent Jesuit who served as spiritual adviser to Mother Teresa -- taught at the University of San Francisco in the 1970s and 1980s, and ministered to Bay Area families extensively throughout the 1990s...

Did you read this in the comments section?

"The complete mystery to me is how the Jesuits allowed their lawyers to argue that the Society of Jesus had no way of controlling him. The truth is that the Jesuits are the most higly regulated order of men in the roman tradition".

Doesn't say much for the other orders does it? How very sad.

I don’t know the specifics of this case, but you will NOT find me defending the Chicago Jesuits.

Chicago is the epicenter of Satanism within the Catholic Church. And Jesuits are the forefront of the liberal heresy. Not sure of the precise means of the intersection of these two crises, but I’m not surprised if there is one.

Don’t feel too cocky, Dr. Eck. Satan would never bother attacking the OPC.

Some of the priests who were made aware of McGuire's abuse of boys. Among them is John Hardon, a deceased Jesuit who is now formally being considered for sainthood by the Roman Catholic Church,.... and San Francisco priest Joseph Fessio, editor of Ignatius Press, the primary English-language publisher of the works of Pope Benedict XVI.

I was also reading from the court hearings. Eyeopening the degree of effort to paint this man in a favorable light despite the awareness of his sexual relations with children.

I’ve been away from FR for a while. Would you mind telling me why I am seeing so many posts today with OPC in them when the subject of the thread has nothing to do with the OPC, of which I am a member?

There is always those around the guilty person who knew of the abuse and did nothing. That would be a sin of omission.

So what punishment is being meted out to them?

Good. I would like to know when he was laicized and who petitioned to have it done. Was it the priest himself or was it done by officials?

Did the crimes take place in San Francisco? If they took place up into the 1990’s I would expect to see criminal charges. Oh heck I would hope to see them.

Again. Good for the Judge.
