Bill Keller infamously announced in 2007, "If you vote for Mitt Romney, you are voting for Satan!"
While expressing less vitriol in his delivery, evangelical author Warren Cole Smith said something similar in his recent article, "A Vote for Romney Is a Vote for the LDS Church."
Smith wrote, "I believe a candidate who either by intent or effect promotes a false and dangerous religion is unfit to serve. A Romney presidency would have the effect of actively promoting a false religion in the world. If you have any regard for the Gospel of Christ, you should care. A false religion should not prosper with the support of Christians. The salvation of souls is at stake."
Mormon scholar and author Joanna Brooks spoke with Smith about his views regarding Mormonism. In the interview posted on religiondispatches.org, Brooks said: "I can understand from an evangelical perspective why you view our religion as 'false.' But why do you think we are 'dangerous?'"
Smith replied, "Let me ask you: is anything that is false not dangerous? Anything false is dangerous. Falsehood leads to danger."
Brooks countered by asking if other faiths he considered theologically "false" like Judaism and Catholicism are also dangerous. Smith said that those faiths are both different from Mormonism.

It is possible that could be a valid point if and only if mormons where Christians.
...But sir, I am DONE with it...
Really I am.
Ya gotta believe me (this time).
Really.
I mean it.
OK, if you're going to respond to me.
That means I'll actually have to be accountable for my words.
Which I don't like.
Which means I'll let you know...
Repeatedly even...
To 'stuff it.'
OK.
You're not stuffing it.
I can see you.
You think you can be so smug.
Sitting there behind your keyboards.
But I know.
You're not stuffing it, are you?
OK, now you've done it.
Now I'm going to have to tell you to BOTH 'stuff it' and 'get out of my face.'
My friends and family know you've gone beyond 'strike one' when I have to tell you 'stuff it.'
But when you've provoked me to tell you BOTH to 'stuff' AND 'get out of my face,' Whoa. Just whoa. Look out.
You've been whiffed.
KO'd.
You're outta here.
Or maybe 'I'm outta here.
'Cause I'm done.
I'm done posting on this thread.
Really I am.
Truly.

Thanks a heap for the ping, Grey. My best wishes to you always. :-)
I will admit that I have not read the entire thread, as 9:30 p.m. is late for me and its past 10:30 as I write this post.
The above quote struck me to the core of my soul.
What to say? The hour is late. Time is so very short and so many go about their day pretending that all is ok and somehow, in the end, Jesus, Our Lord, is just going to say, OK. Well you went against Me in what you did and believed and followed, but I am going to allow you entry anyway.
Um. No. Aint going to happen. ... I never knew you.
I wish to offend no one. No Mormon or otherwise. But, there is only ONE way, and we know that Path; Jesus Christ alone. HIS way ... alone. There is no other.
My heart is grieved on the subject of Mormonism because I believe that Mormons truly believe that they are on the right path when, indeed and plain for Christians to see, they are headed straight to hell for putting their faith in a man whose works and teachings go directly against those of the ONLY One who can save their souls. There is no person in whom to place trust to get our souls to Heaven; ONLY JESUS.
Evidently!
You've complained about another person's RIGHT to 'bash' MORMONism; saying that their posting record proves your point..
I am merely pointing out (to others, evidently) that you have taken NO stand, for or against, MORMONism other than what you've posted.
We have noticed a trend in threads that have MORMON concerns in them (you can look this up and confirm it), that certain people will DEFEND MORMONism (against pip-squeak bashers) all the while protesting that they are NOT MORMON.
I DO so wish you'd make up your mind!
Yes, I know they use you like tools, no Im not a lefty, but Im not going to attack the mans religious practices, Im going to address the really serious issue of his governance.
(He declares victory and stomps off the battlefield.)
I never complained of someone’s right to do anything. I said that their exercising of that right shows a pattern.
But keep trying to nit-pick and avoiding points you dont like.
I guess I'm nitpicking when...
Ref #173But as long as we are looking for patterns...That is why there are anti Mormon threads popping up a few times a day. Ive seen the same crew try to use BYUs basketball tournament loss as a springboard into to Mormon Derangement Syndrome.
And yes, it is possible to hate something without saying I hate... We all know Obama hates the Constitution, but he has never used the words in any publication.
I never complained of someones right to do anything.
I guess you are right.
I (and others, apparently) have been putting words in your mouth
True; RIGHT was not mentioned; other than the FACT that they had the audacity to actually EXERCIZE that right, no matter what the initial conversation was about.
Your’re nit picking when you ignore points made in a thread and context, then try to single out one line to prove something that no one was disputing. Better off with the pictures.
So you’re changing your claim to something you didnt say because what you thought you meant isnt what you originally said?
If you dont like me talking about how you choose to exercise your rights, shouldnt you also become indignant when people complain about Mormon’s exercising their right?
Stunt Mormon?
I just HATE it when folks DO that!
Went through one too many walls.
