Correct. In the US which had the highest rate, the % of priest convicted is 0.53%. In the worst places, Philly and Chicago, the number of those accused was 2-3% (lesser numbers were convicted). The majority of the abuse was in the 50s-80s and now any priest even suspected is put on suspension pronto

Let us not malign the 97.5 to 99.5% of good priests (and nearly 100% of priests joining this century) for the sins of the evil 0.53 or 2.5%.

Pray for them, they need our prayers.

Not surprised, because it takes only one bad priest doing wrong to harm the good name of all the rest.
