Report: Human error, inadequate fire alarm contributed to Provo Tabernacle fire (Mormonism)
ABC4 (Salt Lake City) ^ | March 31, 2011

PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 News) - The Provo City Fire Department has released the full report on the December Provo Tabernacle fire.

The 135-page report outlines events leading up to the fire from December 17th that destroyed the historic landmark in Provo.

Trax Lighting and AV arrived at the Tabernacle a few days before the fire to setup lighting for a concert that was to be taped by BYU Broadcasting.

During the setup of a lighting truss, a technician said he set aside two lamps that were part of the in-house lighting system.

Fire officials believe these lights were placed too close to a speaker which started the fire two days later.

The report notes a number of circumstances and human errors that contributed to the unintentionally set fire.

Provo fire says the fire alarm in the building was inadequate and failed an inspection on December 2nd, two weeks before the fire.

The fire alarm system was only monitored in the building, meaning an alarm wouldn't automatically trigger a response from the fire department.

There was also not an automatic sprinkler system in the building that fire official believe would have controlled the fire.

The fire alarm system had a history of false alarms that may have have lead building personnel to "become apathetic to the system as a whole."

At 1:10am the morning of the fire, a fire alarm was triggered and a security guard disabled the alarm and did not contact the fire department, delaying a response to the fire by nearly an hour and a half.

"I do not know what world you live in cause we are taught to find our own answers. We are to do our own study and ask God ourselves if it is true. We have always been taught to get our own testimony."

Exactly.

Mormons are taught to abandon objective truth and rely entirely on subjective verification.
This clears the way to cast aspersion on the Bible as a source of unchangeable truth
and it opens the door to believe heresy in all its forms - all backed up by your feelings
that were "testified to."

Once you are off the ground of unchangeable truth, anything goes and appears truthful.

I wish better for you,
ampu

Satan has his teachers try to convince you that Mormons are just blind followers.

Like THIS guy???

In conclusion let us summarize this grand key, these “Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet”, for our salvation depends on them.

1. The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.
2. The living prophet is more vital to us than the standard works.
3. The living prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet.
4. The prophet will never lead the church astray.
5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time.
6. The prophet does not have to say “Thus Saith the Lord,” to give us scripture.
7. The prophet tells us what we need to know, not always what we want to know.
8. The prophet is not limited by men’s reasoning.
9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual.
10. The prophet may advise on civic matters.
11. The two groups who have the greatest difficulty in following the prophet are the proud who are learned and the proud who are rich.
12. The prophet will not necessarily be popular with the world or the worldly.
13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidency—the highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidency—the living prophet and the First Presidency—follow them and be blessed—reject them and suffer.

I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captain—how close do our lives harmonize with the Lord’s anointed—the living Prophet—President of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency.

Ezra Taft Benson

DAMN that mean ol' SATAN!

Just LOOK what he slipped into the BIBLE!

NIV Galatians 1:6-9
 6.  I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel--
 7.  which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.
 8.  But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!
 9.  As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

ANYBODY???

Like this fine looking fellow???

It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!

2 Corinthians 11:12-15
 12.  And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about.
 13.  For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ.
 14.  And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
 15.  It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

KJV 1 Corinthians 4:17
For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

KJV 1 Corinthians 11:2
Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

 KJV 2 Thessalonians 2:15
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

KJV 2 Timothy 1:13
Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

KJV 2 Timothy 3:14-15
 14.  But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
 15.  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

I was responding to what YOU said:

“they are not saved in the eyes of Jesus. “

It was UNDERLINED in my post; indicating that I got it from you-know-who.

The church teaches people not to question the church.

That's a mighty broad brush. Just WHICH 'church' are you refering to?

Acts 17:11 (niv)

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

Note that they did NOT check with other teachers, the traditions of some other believers, what some vague Personages relayed to them, what Elsie said on FR, or a burning in the busom; but the SCRIPTURES.

I hope you have a great day!!

So far, so good.

I was able to get the wife's Jeep® to pull the garden tractor out of the mud where I lost the wheel last night.

I was able to get a new key to lock the tractor wheel in place a few minutes ago, and now I am resting up, gonna put my grubbies on and fix that wheel in place shortly.

Cover me!

I'm going in!

When you finish what you’re doing with the wheel, I need you to bring in some clothes from the line. You’ll have plenty of time to iron and put them away before the sun goes down if you hurry.

We’ll talk cooking later.

(as always .... :-) )

Poor Elsie, has all those for whom he's responsible, goats included. Hehe, I have only myself, so I have all that stuff to do daily, but no one to list them for me and expcet every one to be done by time certain. At least Elsie doesn't have to struggle against the bane of my existence, PROCRASTINATION! ... Right Elsie? ... Right Elsie! Get up from that nap and get these chores done, man!

If the weather didn’t look so frightening, I could easily convince myself to go for a little nap. Too, someone needs to make sure somebody is doing some work. ;-)

Procrastination isn’t such a bad thing, MGH. Seize the day ... tomorrow!

Case in point: A friend of mine grew up in the Baptist Church and was Saved at 14. He later married a Mormon and joined the Mormon church. He and his wife divorced and he went back to being a Baptist. Was his Salvation “postponed” during the Mormon time?

You make the same mistake a lot of Christians and Mormons make...that "salvation" has a 1:1 (or near 1:1) correlation with specific church membership.

I don't think that Christ's parable about the virgins and oil in their lamp was meant to be primarily taken as a "statistical" prophesy (Matt. 25:1-10); on the other hand, I don't rule it out as a rough "toss out" of what the percentages may wind up being.

IOW...you have half of these virgins eagerly awaiting Christ's return. Yet how many wind up being locked out despite this fully expectant hope on their part? (Half)

Why were they locked out? (No oil in their lamps).

In the Bible, what's oil representative of? (The energized Holy Spirit in our lives)

IOW, Jesus says you can have a Jesus-centered person seeking to keep themselves pure (hence "virgin" is the word picture Jesus uses)...fully placing their orientation & hope upon the returning Jesus...and guess what? They can still be locked out of being with Jesus the Bride Groom forever.

On what basis? They eschewed the proper preparation -- the proper Energy Source of the Light of our very lives -- the Holy Spirit.

We believe in a 3-in-1 God...and Jesus defines eternal life by knowing Him and knowing the ONLY TRUE God (John 17:3). Mormonism has a different God (a low-level god, a former man, with no ultimate authority over all universal things) and a different Jesus (a saved being who's a spirit bro of Satan).

And Yet we also need to relate to the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 3; John 3; John 14; John 15; John 16). A Spirit-free life -- or a fleshly-energized life -- locks out the Holy Spirit. And doesn't relate to God based upon who He is.

ALL: Don't be locked out. Invite Jesus AND the Holy Spirit into your lives; let them convict you, guide you, and operate in and through you.

I followed through ... and went for a nice nap after writing. I am, as they say, now a professional procrastinator.

Get up from that nap and get these chores done, man!

HUSH!

SOME of us are trying to sleep here!

Yes, I got the wheel back on. The hub and wheel keyways haVE enlarged quite a bit, but with a new key in place, they are fairly well jammed together.

I hooked up the drag harrow and rearranged the rocks in the gravel driveway a bit, trying to fill in the potholes that have appears over the wet winter months.

Mama was happy when she came home.

Poor Elsie, has all those for whom he's responsible, goats included.

I have one unhappy goat, as she was grabbed and held while getting the currycomb treatment to remove that winter shaggy coat.

My buddy held Gracie (the smallest) while I removed enough fluff to make a decent sized rabbit.

No, I don't think the hair (fur?) is good enough for sweaters.

The other three have pretty much rubbed all of their winter coat off on the trees and barn.

(That's Ellie Mae givin' me the eyeball!)

I love domesticated goats. They’re like big cats but even more inquisitive.

I do not know what world you live in cause we are taught to find our own answers. We are to do our own study and ask God ourselves if it is true

Yeah, well, let's "translate" this into actual Mormon "policy."

Take abortion, for example. Mormons are encouraged not to have one. But 'tis many exceptions they allow for...incest...health of mom (not simply LIFE of Mom -- but HEALTH)...if the abortionist says it's "OK"...and if the Mormon god says it's OK.

So rather than just taking a carte blanche approach to baby dismemberment...and approach it absolutely as murder...Mormons take the hole-in-the-cheese approach...and if you happen to find a whole passageway thru the cheese, hey, it's "vacuum" out the baby time!

So, as K-Ben-K says, they are to continually reinvent the wheel on EVERY pregnancy. It's not approaching pregnancy with a 100% prohibition vs. killing their offspring...it's "let's take this pregnancy and that pregnancy on a contingency basis"...and if we pray about it...and the Mormon god says, "suction away," then "hey, we tear the baby apart limb by limb" and thank the Mormon god that he guides his church by "continuing revelation."
