With Christopher Hitchens teetering on the brink of eternity, revisit this query from 2007:
Do we have any prayer volunteers for Christopher Hitchens? Hes the self -proclaimed atheist/anti-theist, and stunningly clever wordsmith. He leapfrogged puzzled agnosticism to a pledged rebellion against God.
Hell be a tough turn-around, so thick is his iron-clad ignorance of the divine.
In a recent Newsweek he cynically dissects Mother Teresas dark theological struggles, a postscript to his derisive 1995 book, The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice. A week ago he was a featured speaker for an Atheist Alliance conference in Washington DC.
Hitchens latest book, God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything, maligns the devoted, be their god Creator or counterfeit. Holy books, including the Bible, are mythological morality tales and he suggests any religious training is child-abuse.

Here is a prayer designed for him: “Dear God, give Christopher Hitchens everything he deserves ... make that double... Amen”.
where two or more are gathered together. I pray for Hitchens salvation as well.
His name has been in my nightly prayers ever since the news came out that he was sick.
"My dear, why are you sobbing?" a voice from the sky suddenly appeared
The girl looked up "I tried to go to church this morning but the people inside scorned me and demanded that I leave as I did not deserve to be there." she replied.
The voice laughed, "my dear, do not let that make you sad. I've been trying to get into that church myself for many years now and they still refuse to let me in as well."
Too bad, though I understand. That was my attitude decades ago before He tapped me on the shoulder and introduced Himself. I was stunned, then humbled by my ignorance. It became a rip-roaring adventure after that.
I get ticked off at those who show disrespect to my faith. Nevertheless, we pray for them lovingly to “see” the Truth with their hearts and minds.

I appreciate your condensation.
Why do people who look forward to eternal bliss after death pray to have their lives extended?
I prayed for him. God help him to understand that He needs you before it’s to late, in Jesus name, Amen. His brother knows Jesus, this must be horrible, what a nightmare.
I am a lay Dominican. One reason is that Dominic pled with tears for sinners. Moses pled for sinners. Jesus lived and died and lives for sinners. I already intercede for atheists, though no where near as much as I should.
LOL one mustn't grab the first spellcheck choice when anxious to respond quickly.
It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Just pray for him, I wouldn’t wish his fate without Jesus on anyone. Jesus died for Christopher too and if not for the grace of God we would all be headed for hell.
It's not me, or you... It's YHWH. One cannot claim there is no proof. It is there. There is no way that one can say otherwise with prophecy proving foreknowledge spanning aeons.
Oh dear, then you would not have prayed for me; I was the most obnoxious non-believer 37 years ago. Fortunately some faithful friends looked beyond my fierce veneer and prayed me in anyway, thank you God!
That’s a tough one.
This is why I try not to get too upset when people malign God. He can handle them just fine and in His own time without my help.
Just ask Madeline Murray O’Hare.
There's the truth! There, but for the Grace of God, go I. HalleluYah!
Oh yes, poor Madeline. And where is she now? I hate to think, even with the damage she did to our culture in removing the Bible from public schools. Our cowardly judges didn’t know their education history.
Amen and amen!
