Father John Corapi of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT), among the nation’s most popular Catholic evangelists, was placed on “administrative leave” following allegations of misconduct leveled against him by a former employee.
Announced on the priest’s personal website, the news shocked Catholics who have been inspired by his robust articulation of Church teaching, and his powerful personal conversion story.
He stated, “On Ash Wednesday I learned that a former employee sent a three-page letter to several bishops accusing me of everything from drug addiction to multiple sexual exploits with her and several other adult women.”
As Internet pundits reacted to the headlines, his supporters questioned whether the formal process of investigating such claims conveyed the impression that the accused was “guilty until proven innocent.”
SOLT, as well as the relevant diocesan authorities, affirmed the Church’s guidelines for responding to allegations of clerical misconduct. But an intense debate on the Internet testified to the priest’s iconic status among Catholics who relish his homiletic gifts and charismatic persona.
Critics, including Father Corapi in the past, have argued that the present framework for dealing with such allegations is a “one-size-fits-all response” that blurs distinctions between minor infractions and criminal behavior. It’s a horrendous policy, wherein the name of an ‘allegedly’ accused priest is released to the public immediately. There should be a way for some discretion to be exercised by his superiors/authorities with a private initial investigation, instead of this tragic public stain, which will surely mark him terribly.
The accuser had allegedly been terminated from her employment, physically assaulted fellow employees, and vowed to destroy Fr. Corapi, before she made her accusations public.
God bless him with the emotional and physical strength, faith, and patience he’ll need for this huge mountain of pain and isolation.

People "going Galt" is a lot of what got us in our current mess. Had people stood up over the small stuff years ago instead of hiding in their material comforts we'd have never kept all the LBJ crap in place and there wouldn't be several generations who have been brainwashed in fascist schools. Good people being slandered and faithful Christians having a secular humanist agenda shoved down their throats didn't disturb the majority who were comfortable in equity generating burrows. That was their version of "going Galt" since they could do their own thing and ignore what was happening outside their little world.
Separated brethren who disagree with the Catholic Church stood aside and often even cheered on coordinated attacks by the same secular humanists they decry from their pulpits. It's about time we all wake up and find common ground to stand on and fight Satan rather than watching the battle from afar as long as it isn't our group under fire at the moment. The Father Corapi situation is a perfect example of how secular humanists have intimidated everyone and stacked the deck so that good people can be silenced if they dare to speak up.
Don't "hunker down". Pray for the courage, wisdom, and strength, to fight these bastards. Pray that St. Michael will come to our aid and slaughter the real powers and principalities behind this sort of thing. Pray that the victims of these attacks will have strength and joy in spite of the attacks. Pray for our enemies, too, but don't look for a way to "hunker down" or "go Galt" abandoning the field to the enemy. Christians in this country have already abandoned so many battlefields that they've backed themselves into every corner they can find.
