long ago while in college, I was in a group that visited prisons to share the Gospel - the one that comes by the Grace of God and apart from human works, unlike the mormon gospel of human filthy rags.

After talking to a prisoner for longer than 5 minutes, almost to a person, they would pause and say...

There is no debate on this. Mormonism is a proven fraud that twists the most sacred of Christian ideas into something unrecognizable and far less sacred, in fact it spits on them in many cases.
Saying “Oh you are not looking with a open mind/heart yada yada, or that this “opinion” or "you are being misled" or whatever while cute does not negate the FACT that the LDS are not Christian and their doctrine insults the savior, which in turn insults his people.
Christians are instructed to defend the faith and call out false teachers and prophets.

Have you ever studied the timeline which tracks the absenses of Rigdon from his Pittsburgh home and correlates them with the “appearances” of the “angel” to the “Jolly Prophet?” It is remarkable.
I am ashamed to admit as a Baptist that the true founder of Mormonism was a renegade minister of my own faith.
BTW, mention Rigdon around well-grounded Mormons and they become noticeably uncomfortable.
Rigdon’s call for a massacre of “gentiles” in Mormon-settled areas of Missouri was one of his more “endearing” actions, along with his rather transparent manipulation of young Smith early on in LDS history.
