After a burst appendix nearly cost 4-year-old Colton Burpo his life in 2003, his parents were thankful just to have him alive and well. But when he opened up about his brush with death a few months later, they were shocked when he described a very vivid trip to heaven, and spoke of matters about which he had no apparent way of knowing.
During an automobile trip, when Sonja Burpo asked him about his memories of being in the hospital, little Colton replied: Yes, Mommy, I remember thats where the angels sang to me. A sweet answer, to be sure but then Colton made his parents jaws drop when he told them about sitting in Jesus lap, watching his parents while he lay seemingly near death, and meeting his great-grandfather.
But most poignantly, Colton described meeting a sibling in heaven even though he had no way of knowing that his mother had miscarried two years before he was born, since his parents had never told him.

I believe him.Without getting into it too deeply I’ve had several near misses and have had similar experinces.
I believe him also.....and you are not getting off that easy FRiend. We are living in the end times, and Christians, and non-Christians alike need to hear your testimony.
The book has been on the NY Times best sellers list and is available for $6.99 at Christian Books! I want one in my Easter Basket. As a parent who lost a daughter to a Drunk Driver, I hope that she is with Jesus and waiting for her Mom and Me!
I just bought this for my NOOK and can't wait to read it. Without even reading the book I believe this little boy too.
Sure sounds compelling. The thing that makes me skeptical is that he says people in heaven have wings. There’s a common folk belief that confuses angels with people who go to heaven, and thinks they all get wings, but that is not based on Scripture. Also, his description of Jesus seems to be in direct contradiction to the appearance of the glorified Christ in Revelation.
I’m going to say, on first impression, that at the least, the kid has embellished, as kids tend to do, in an effort to please his parents or get attention.
I have a friend who is a Phd and Md who believes that we are eternal energies which visits with God but are reborn many tmes over. She has counselled me about my daughter's untimely death but says that families come together in the hereafter and are reborn
You don’t have to wait...SonOfDarkSkies told us on another thread about Amazon having a free “Kindle for PC”..it’s super for those of us whose eye sight isn’t that great anymore, and the book was only $6.13. The book was wonderful!!!
Thanks again SonOfDarkSkies :)
He spoke of the angels singing... typical of a child who listens to Christmas carols ..but angels do not sing ..
Instead of reading the dreams of a chid people would be better off reading the scriptures and seeing what God says about it
Your copy of the Bible seems to be amazingly definite on the things which no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of
man imagined.
For instance: “Angels don’t sing”. Plus you know for a fact we won’t have wings.
Me, too! I can vouch for the vivid vision and the colors! And I can also vouch for the Angels coming and getting the kid. And I think that’s all I’m supposed to say.
Must agree with that. Who does Scripture say has come back from Heaven? A small selection of saints for short durations, various angels and archangels on missions from God, and the 1/3 of all the angels who followed this guy:
Nothing about boys on astral trips.
Answer: Job 38:7 tells us that during the creation of the world, "the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy."
Revelation 5:11-13 declares, Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels . . . They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they sang: Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise! Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!
Luke 2:13-14 informs us, "Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests.'"
The above Scriptures appear at first glance to give clear evidence to the idea that angels sing. However, in each instance, the words that are translated "sing" or "sang" could also be referring to speaking. At the same time, the fact that the angels are worshipping and praising God seems to argue for singing as the meaning, not just speaking. God has created humanity with an innate connection to music and singing, especially in regard to worship (Ephesians 5:19). It would seem logical that God would have created the angels with that same "propensity" for singing. Whatever the case, whether singing or speaking, we know the angels are all about worshipping and praising God. May we follow their example!
I was hoping somebody besides me would notice. In theory at least, people in heaven should not need wings...
“Sure sounds compelling. The thing that makes me skeptical is that he says people in heaven have wings. Theres a common folk belief that confuses angels with people who go to heaven, and thinks they all get wings, but that is not based on Scripture.”
Not only do humans in scripture never have wings, neither do any angels......
Then, and only then, will God'd mysteries be revealed to us.
Yes/no to "angel wings", and all the other mental paraphernalia, will only become clear at that point.
In the meanwhile, we all believe what we choose to believe and what comforts us, for lack of better terminology.
I, for one, do not believe that we'll have physical bodies; if you think it all through, the thought of teaming up with "Mom, Dad, Grandpa, etc., etc., etc." is really quite ludicrous.
It's there, but none of us who 'conjecture' have got the slightest clue...I take zero stock in what this child or any other 'near death' type has in the memory bank; it's probably feral instinct, and somebody is going to have to prove me wrong (which, of course, ain't happening in this world......)
It might be a stretch to assume that our new incorruptable bodies have a physical appearance like angels. Then again it might not be. Apparently angels can appear to be like men, without wings. Perhaps we will have the power to appear with wings like angels.
First of all, what kind of parents name their kid Colton????????? Especially when your last name is Burpo????????????? Hope the kid makes it alive through high school with that moniker!
Angels not only sing but there are choirs of them who do nothing but sing.
