Death and Dying

In spite of the noise [the gardeners] were making, I heard these words in my soul: "Pray for me!" But as I could not understand these words very well, I moved a few steps away from the wards, trying to think who it could be who was asking me to pray. Then I heard the words: "I am Sister..." This sister was in Warsaw while I was, at the time, in Vilnius. "Pray for me until I tell you to stop. I am dying." Immediately, I began to pray fervently for her [addressing myself] to the expiring Heart of Jesus. She gave me no respite , and I kept praying from three until five. At five I heard the words, "Thank you!" and I understood that she had died. .....In the afternoon [the following day] a postcard came saying that Sister... had died at such and such a time. I understood that it was at the same hour when she had said to me, "Pray for me." (315)

In a private room next to mine there was a Jewish woman who was seriously ill. I went to see her three days ago and she was deeply pained at the thought that she would soon die without having her soul cleansed by the grace of Baptism. ...I felt inspired to pray before the image which Jesus had instructed me to have painted. I said, "Lord, You Yourself told me that You would grant many graces through this image. I ask You then for the grace of Holy Baptism for this Jewish lady. ."...

..The moment came when the sick woman began to lose consciousness, and as a result, in order to save her, they...went off...to find help. And so the patient was left alone, and Sister baptised her, and before they had all rushed back, her soul was beautiful, adorned with God's grace. Her final agony began immediately, but it did not last long. It was as if fell asleep. All of a sudden, I saw her soul ascending to heaven in wondrous beauty. Oh how beautiful is a soul with sanctifying grace! Joy flooded my heart that before this image I had received so great grace for this soul. (916)

January 28, 1938. Today the Lord said to me, My daughter, write down these words: All those souls who will glorify My mercy and spread its worship, encouraging others to trust in My mercy, will not experience terror at the hour of death. My mercy will shield them in that final battle...(1540)

Write that when they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as the merciful Saviour. (1541)

When I entered the chapel for a moment, the Lord said to me, My daughter, help Me to save a certain dying sinner. Say the chaplet that I have taught you for him. When I began to say the chaplet, I saw the man dying in the midst of terrible torment and struggle. His Guardian Angel was defending him, but he was, as it were, powerless against the enormity of the soul's misery. A multitude of devils was waiting for the soul. But while I was saying the chaplet, I saw Jesus just as He is depicted in the image. The rays which issued from Jesus' Heart enveloped the sick man, and the powers of darkness fled in panic. The sick man peacefully breathed his last. When I came to myself, I understood how very important the chaplet was for the dying. It appeases the anger of God. (1565)

I often communicate with persons who are dying and obtain the divine mercy for them. Oh, how great is the goodness of God, greater than we can understand. There are moments and there are mysteries of the divine mercy over which the heavens are astounded. Let our judgment of souls cease, for God's mercy upon them is extraordinary. (1684)

I often attend upon the dying and through entreaties obtain for them trust in God's mercy, and I implore God for an abundance of divine grace , which is always victorious. God's mercy sometimes touches the sinner at the last moment in a wondrous and mysterious way. Outwardly, it seems as if everything were lost, but it is not so. The soul, illumined by a ray of God's powerful final grace, turns to God in the last moment with such a power of love that, in an instant, it receives from God forgiveness of sin and punishment , while outwardly it shows no sign either of repentance or of contrition, because souls [at that stage] no longer react to external things. Oh, how beyond comprehension is God's mercy! But- horror -there are also souls who voluntarily and consciously reject and scorn this grace! Although a soul is at the point of death, the merciful God gives the soul that interior vivid moment, so that if the soul is willing, it has the possibility of returning to God. But sometimes, the obduracy in souls is so great that consciously they choose hell; they make useless all the prayers that other souls offer to God for them and even the efforts of God Himself..(1698)

Pray as much as you can for the dying. By your entreaties, obtain for them trust in My mercy, because they have most need of trust, and have it the least. Be assured that the grace of eternal salvation for certain souls in their final moment depends on your prayer. You know the whole abyss of My mercy, so draw upon it for yourself and especially for poor sinners. Sooner would heaven and earth turn into nothingness than would My mercy not embrace a trusting soul. (1777)

Today, the Lord came to me and said, "My daughter, help Me to save souls. You will go to a dying sinner, and you will continue to recite the chaplet, and in this way you will obtain for him trust in My mercy, for he is already in despair." Suddenly, I found myself in a strange cottage where an elderly man was dying amidst great torments. All about the bed was a multitude of demons and the family, who were crying. When I began to pray, the spirits of darkness fled, with hissing and threats directed at me. The soul became calm and, filled with trust, rested in the Lord. At the same moment, I found myself again in my own room. How this happens...I do not know. (1798)

I've done the dying bit. It's highly over-rated. The bad part is that I lived through it. I'll have to go through that all over again someday.

One of the things I learned, bleeding to death internally, staring at the moonlit sky while snow fell heavily, was that I was ok with going home. I really DID believe in Christ the Savior.

Bummer was waking up in the trauma ward with tubes &ct.... Above my pay grade, but I'm a little disappointed that I'll have to do it again someday.

Wow! What an experience. You might enjoy the book by Dr. Jeffrey Long entitled “Evidence of the Afterlife”. It’s about NDEs (Near Death Experiences) and what the people say they saw or experienced when they come back to life — whether it is in the operating room or a bedroom.

The doctor does a lot of statistics, but he also has a website that just had the NDE stories on it.

I've seen everything I want to see. I may 'see through a glass, darkly' but that's probably for the best. I'll just assume I have more business to conduct for Him in the future, and I'll know it when I see it. Or not.

It took almost a year to recover. I'll never get back the kidney or spleen that got ruptured in the fall. And things have pretty much sucked since I got back on my feet.

As I said, above my pay grade. His will, not mine.

All I can do is one foot in front of the other.

Thank you both for the posts on the Divine Mercy Chaplet. I pray it daily after my rosary, but this past day something dreadful was about to happen, and in tears, I threw myself on the mercy of Christ in the Chaplet prayers, in tears for the first time in a year.

Today, I found that my prayers were answered, and I immediately fell on my knees and praised God for His Mercy.

If you had not made these wonderful posts, I may not have had the faith to trust in what is, for me, a miracle.

Hi Judith- Love you in Him. I am inspired by your words and others. I thank God for these posts. Sometimes we are in the natural not touching base with the Christ supernatural. Which always comes from talking to our God. Prayer is so important. I do not do it enough in my eyes at times but God is good. But there is nothing more powerful than heartfelt prayer especially the formal DIVINE MERCY PRAYER. Perhaps when your ready you can share but do it in your own time. Luv ya

Praise Jesus!! AMEN!!

Forgive me if it’s selfish to ask but could you add the 40 adays of Life to your prayer list? I’ve been praying daily & we had 2 babies saved this week in Pittsburgh. I know with more prayer God will end this American holocaust

The fact is that in the 1950’s the Divine Mercy Devotion
was suppressed and Sr. Faustina’s diary was on the index of forbidden books. It was only rehabilitated around the world by John Paul II after Vatican II. In addition to that, it’s popular among the Charismatic “Catholics,” and
it seems to be used as a substitute for the Rosary.

Charismatic “Catholics” are just faux Protestant Pentacostals. Of course they would fall for this feelings oriented “Divine Mercy”.

Mercy is not a “feeling”. Mercy is God’s premiere and eternal gift to us.

If you don’t want to believe in the Divine Mercy devotions, that’s your choice.

But no one can deny the mercy of God. It is the message of the Gospel. It is the message of the Cross. It is the reason for our Faith.

Dear Lord, have mercy on us—we who are sinners.

Below are just a few strange un-Catholic things from Sr. Faustina's "conversations with God":

All quotes from "Divine Mercy in My Soul, The Diary of Sr. Faustina", Stockbridge, MA: Marian Press, 1987

On page 23 of the book Divine Mercy in My Soul (The Diary of Sr. Faustina), it says: “and the host came out of the tabernacle and came to rest in my hands and I, with joy, placed it back in the tabernacle. This was repeated a second time, and I did the same thing. Despite this, it happened a third time…”

On page 89 of the book Divine Mercy in My Soul, it says: “When the priest approached me again, I raised the host for him to put back into the chalice, because when I had first received Jesus I could not speak before consuming the host, and so could not tell Him that the other host had fallen. But while I was holding the host in my hand, I felt such a power of love that for the rest of the day I could neither eat nor come to my senses. I heard these words from the host: I desired to rest in your hands, not only in your heart.”

The Catholic Church only allowed consecrated hands to touch the consecrated host. This writing of Faustina has God himself, breaking His own law. This is promotion of Communion in the hand, which is supposedly endorsed by Our Lord. This is a diabolical snare to get Communion in the hand accepted intellectually in advance of the Vatican II.

"Only the consecrated can touch the consecrated" (St. Thomas Aquinas). What was once common knowledge to any Catholic is today a revelation.

On page 168, it says: “The moment I knelt down to cross out my own will, as the Lord had bid me to do, I heard this voice in my soul: From now on, do not fear God’s judgment, for you will not be judged.”

On page 191, “Jesus” says to her: “For your sake I will withhold the hand which punishes; for your sake I will bless the Earth.”

On page 247, “Jesus” says: “And know this, too, My daughter: All creatures, whether they know it or not, and whether they want to or not, always fulfill my will… My daughter, if you wish, I will this instant create a new world, more beautiful than this one, and you will live there for the rest of your life.”

On page 260, “Jesus” says: “For many souls will turn back from the gates of Hell and worship My mercy.”

On page 374, “Jesus” says: “If they will not adore My mercy, they will perish for all eternity.”

On page 382, “Jesus” says: “I desire that My mercy be worshipped.”

On page 288, “Jesus” says: “That is why I am uniting myself with you so intimately as with no other creature.”

On page 400, “Jesus” says: “I see your love so pure, purer than that of the angels, and all the more so because you keep fighting. For your sake I bless the world.”

On page 417, we read that “Jesus” supposedly gave Sr. Faustina this instruction: “Tell the Superior General to count on you as the most faithful daughter in the Order.”

On page 583, we read that Sr. Faustina said: “When I took the Messenger of the Sacred Heart into my hand and read the account of the canonization of St. Andrew Bobola,my soul was instantly filled with a great longing that our congregation, too, might have a saint and I wept like a child that there was no saint in our midst. And I said to the Lord, ‘I know your generosity, and yet it seems to me that you are less generous towards us.’ And I began again to weep like a little child. And the Lord Jesus said to me, ‘Don’t cry.You are that saint.’”

On page 602, we read that “Jesus” supposedly said: “I cannot stand them, because they are neither good nor bad.”

On page 612, we read that “Jesus” supposedly said: “I bear a special love for Poland, and if she will be obedient to My will, I will exalt her in might and holiness. From her will come forth the spark that will prepare the world for My final coming.”

On page 643, we read that Sr. Faustina said after receiving Communion: “Jesus transform me into another host!… You are a great and all-powerful Lord; you can grant me this favor. And the Lord answered me, ‘You are a living host.’”

On page 208 we learn that “Jesus” supposedly told Sr. Faustina about the new Divine Mercy Devotion and supposedly instructed her that it is to be said on the beads of the Rosary: “This prayer [the Divine Mercy Devotion] will serve to appease my wrath. You will recite it for nine days, on the beads of the Rosary, in the following manner: First of all, you will say one Our Father and Hail Mary and the I Believe in God. Then on the Our Father beads you will say the following words: ‘Eternal Father I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.’On the Hail Mary beads you will say the following words: ‘For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.’ In conclusion, three times you will recite these words: ‘Holy God, holy mighty one, holy immortal one, have mercy on us and on the whole world.’”

The above statements present a number of problems to traditional Catholics who know the Faith. For one the communion in the hand part. Secondly, the things said to her that wouldn't’t foster humility, but vanity – that she is basically the greatest thing in the world. We don’t believe Our Lord would ever instruct her to tell her superior that she is the most faithful daughter in the Order.

Third, we see that Sr. Faustina is told that God’s spark – which will prepare the world for His Second Coming – comes out of Poland! This has been interpreted to mean that God’s chosen person was John Paul II, who was from Poland!(the the sole person responsible for reviving this suppressed devotion.) Fourth, the Divine Mercy Devotion is centered around mercy at a time when mankind was coming closer and closer to having filled up the cup of divine justice. The problem at that time, and today, of course, was that men didn't’t fear God and continued to offend Him. They needed to hear about His justice. But the Divine Mercy devotion was the perfect false devotion and message to make people believe that they will receive God’s mercy even if they stay in their sins; it even instructs people to “worship” His mercy.

Lastly, and most importantly, would God reveal a new devotion to be said on the beads of the Rosary shortly after His Mother came to Fatima to work a profound miracle to reveal, among other things, the necessity of the Rosary? The specific direction given to Sister Faustina for the Divine Mercy Devotion to be prayed on the beads of the Rosary is clearly, the enemies substitute for the Rosary. The Divine Mercy Devotion is a clever counterfeit which, being traditional in so many ways, serves the Devil’s purpose to get this counter-devotion inserted into conservative-minded circles, which the Devil hopes will use it as a substitute for the Rosary.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is not a substitute for the Rosary.

Many people say the Rosary at one time of the day and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at another time.
