Lately, there seems to be a lot of conflict on the religion forum. Much of this has been between Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox. To show that we are all united as Christians and to reduce animosity, I hope we can all agree to one of 4 following statements:
1) I am Catholic. I love Orthodox and Protestant Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.
2) I am Protestant. I love Orthodox and Catholic Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians and Catholics to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.
3) I am an Orthodox Christian. I love Catholic and Protestant Christians. I consider Catholics and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.
4) I am a non-believer. I love Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians, Catholics, and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.
I feel confident that most freepers agree to at least one of these statements, even if they do not say so.
If you agree with any of these statements, please feel free to say so.
Thanks!
LOL.
I’d forgotten.
Grace OR Faith? You mean saved by grace through faith, that is what you believe or not?
Besides, I said ' oneness pentecostals believe that you can lose your salvation which means they believe you can work to your salvation. These are false teachings and oneness pentecostals mix this with their denial of the trinity. They are not Christians.
Now do you realise how much they deviate from scripture? They consider Ellen White's writings to be of equal quality as the Bible.
Or are you one of the oneness people who blindly believe that talking in tongues is a sign of salvation?
“If you can lose your salvation, that means that some action, some work of yours causes you to lose that salvation. That means that correspondingly some action, some work of yours is also a factor in your salvation. That is wrong, it is all God, who chose those to be saved from before time and direct their actions.”
What did Jesus say? Did Jesus EVER say he had chosen some before time to irresistibly save, and the rest to damn for his pleasure?
Did he ever say, “If you made the list, you will be saved!”?
What did Jesus say?
28Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” - John 6
“14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, 15and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” - Mark 1
“30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” - John 20
The Gospel is NOT “Maybe Jesus loves you...”
To the tune of ‘Jesus Loves Me’:
Jesus hates most men, it’s true!
Jesus probably hates you too!
But if your name is on his list
He will give you heaven’s bliss!
Yes, Jesus hates you!
Yes, Jesus hates you!
Yes, Jesus hates you,
Unless you’re one of us!
All sung around the campfire by little kids wearing T-shirts with
The Few
The Proud
The Chosen
on them.
And THAT is supposed to be the Good News?
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lords favor.”
20And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” - Luke 4
These groups you support in pentecostals and adventists are following serious distortions of G-d's word, they follow practically pagan teachings with mumblings in tongues and raising Ellen White's teachings to be equal to the Bible. These people unless saved are going to hell.
THANK YOU!!!
Who is “G-d”?
Are you saying that one can be "elect" and sin and still be saved? Or that an "elect" is incapable of sin? Your statement implies one or the other.
We are all totally depraved, but through unconditional election and limited atonement G-d saves some who cannot reject this (which means they cannot claim glory for the work of 'accepting') and He keeps them through it by Perserverance.
If you reject one of these points, you reject all of TULIP
Then this G-d of yours isn't the God revealed in scripture. And I doubt you win converts from the lost with your message, but instead try to raid the churches around you. One of the prominent OPC posters on FR once admitted she didn't know anyone who converted from non-Christian to Calvinist.
Here is the Gospel:
30Then he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" 31And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." 32And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family. 34Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God." - Acts 16
You will note they did NOT reply, "If God saves you, you will believe!"
Faith is a grace, but we do not go about praising ourselves for accepting us, we are saved by G-d before time. Anything else is empty boasting.
Pretty good idea you had there. To bad the religious bigots will not follow through.
Thanks....you are correct.
Yeah.
She was bright, usually cheery regardless . . . a firm Christian and a wonderful sister in Christ.
I’ve never heard any of them say such a thing.
Will ask a couple next time I see them.
I’m beginning to wonder if folks in your congregation are.
