Holy Spirit Indwelling Series Part 6
Miraculous Indwelling of the Holy Spirit Today?
This is the final article in a series examining the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. To date a non-miraculous literal indwelling has been rejected and left the question: What benefit would it be anyway? A representative indwelling of Deity and man demonstrating unity according to Gods purpose stands scripturally acceptable. However, the question yet to be answered is why not a miraculous indwelling of the Holy Spirit today? The miraculous must be explored so it can be accepted or rejected.
There are various religions today which lay claim to the miraculous. They are characterized by faith healings, tongues, direct guidance in teaching and persecution, and direct operation to comfort, strengthen, and energize the believer. Indeed, these occurrences are embraced in part or full by the Charismatic, Pentecostal, Christian, and denominational faiths. Even those bodies which outwardly reject the miraculous have embraced some of the above characteristics. Such a conflict occurs because a lack of study and improper teaching in regard to the nature of such claims. In this article, rather than focus on the specific miraculous characteristics claimed by man, the duration of the miraculous will be examined. If the miraculous is possible today, then why not have a miraculous indwelling? If however, the miraculous is not possible today, then a miraculous indwelling is out of the question.
That the miraculous was present in the Old Testament is without dispute. Moses, Elijah, and Elisha stand out as having been given the ability to conduct such actions. In the nature of miraculous inspiration, visions, revelations, and prophesying were demonstrated by...

Technically speaking, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit did not occur in the OT, but an embuement occurred.
To better grasp indwelling, study the use of the Hebrew term “Shechanah” also referenced as Shekinah Glory, which is a manifestation of God’s physical presence.
It also is the source for the halo depicted in many 1st millennial Christian art pieces.
Obviously, the OP has never met the Holy Spirit face to face...(yeah I read the link)
Sad and just further evidence that the Body of Christ is infected by the darkness in so many places.
Okay I was taking courses at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield Missouri in 1993 - 1994, while I was a youth minister at a Presbterian Church of America in Springfield, Missouri.
I was reading a required book by Dr. Stanley Horton, PhD Theology from Harvard University on the Holy Spirit and he was quoting a Princeton Theological Professor from the 1800s, Charles Hodge whom denied the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Stanley Horton strived to show that even a Princeton Theological Professor believed that speaking in tongues and healing promised in the atonement of Jesus Christ, and to prove his pentecostal viewpoint he took the material as written by Hodge out of context to promote a false teaching.
Yes it is a faslse teaching. Keep this in mind, the roots of Pentecostalism arose of the so called Azusa Street revivals that occurred in California.
Pentecostalism and Charimatic denominations believe in strongly that evryting in the new Testament must occur yet today in the world to prove God’s existence. God exists and he does not need to be proven by the continuous revelations through miracles to occur everyday. If a healing occurs Great. But when a religion or pastor, rabbi, Imam desire the miraclous to occur everyday it cease to be of God it is a manipulation by man to serve a man centered theological that denies the very existence of God, but lifts up Satan with its continued persistence to show God existence.
God works yet today he does need to be seen by the miraclous. God is seen in scripture. he does not need to announce his presence with clanging cymbals, drums, guitars and emotionalism.
Emotionalism is subjective it denies that the objective (truth) is real unless the subjective (signs and wonders) must first prove the objective. ‘Ye of little faith’ is what the modern church has become. It is a convulted view to christianity that is based in something other that what God desires.
Look at what the false religions teach - signs and wonders must prove the existence.
The Shia muslims believe strongly in the 12th Imam is to return and yet may even be on the earth since 2006-2007. In 2013 the 12th Imam will fight a great battle with the deceiver.. Is it now understandable why the conflict is now occurring yet today a radical sect that is a minority is striving to cause conflict and chaos and pushing the world to a climax through its own false religion.
Many of the decieved Christian denominations will desire to join alongside Satan and seek ecumenical meetings and an openenss that believes all religions have the equal and same way to Jesus Christ.
This is a false teaching that will lead many astray into the pit of hell
Sorry to be preachy but hopeful this is understandable in how the Church has been lead a stray by the seeking of signs and wonders. The church of today has become so secularized and pitted with false doctrines that Doctrine no longer is existence in many of the churches that exist. It must truly be a heartache to God to see so many be lead astry by the seeking of something that destroyed the people of Israel, whom were brought out of slavery and bondage in Egypt and had to have a sign and wonder to prove the existence of God to people whom forgot their plight and life in Egypt. There were only a few compared to the many whom left Egypt and entered the promised land.
Did you mean imbuement? What's the difference between indwelling and imbuement?
Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. (Psalm 51:11)10 But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; So He turned Himself against them as an enemy, And He fought against them.
11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying: "Where is He who brought them up out of the sea With the shepherd of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within them,
12 Who led them by the right hand of Moses, With His glorious arm, Dividing the water before them To make for Himself an everlasting name, (Isa. 63)
Hope to get back to this today.
