(In light of today's New Zealand earthquake)
Of the many different natural disasters that exist, nothing is as terrifying and devastating as the awesome power of an earthquake. In just a few moments of time an earthquake can unleash catastrophic damage and the deaths of multitudes. Who can forget the recent earthquake in Haiti in 2010? As we inch ever closer to the coming Day of the Lord, we are seeing a marked global increase in the number and intensity of earthquakes - just as Jesus said we would (see Matt. 24:7-8; Mark 13:8)!

In the past 30 years there has been an overall increase of 1500% more widespread and sensitive seismic instruments... World Wide...
Absolutely the truth and I would expect to see more as the time even draws closer!! Even so come Lord Jesus.
i thought i heard someone say it was gonna be like a thief in the night,,,
If it doesn’t really happen until, for example, two thousand years later, then what are you saying? Between right now and any time after right now, it will happen whenever it happens.
Panic mongering. According to the USGS: “Although it may seem that we are having more earthquakes, earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or greater have remained fairly constant.” Source: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/learn/topics/increase_in_earthquakes.php
For stics junkies, see http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eqarchives/year/eqstats.php
This reminds me of globull warming. How many weather measuring stations were out there 200 years ago? What was the quality of the instruments. Have the methods of recording the data changed?
How many recording stations were out there 300 years ago? 500 years ago? 1000 years ago? Is a 1000 year database predictive as it relates to geologic time?
Same questions apply to seismic stations.
Isn’t this argument on the same order as the Global Warming alarmist looking for facts to fit a conclusion? Can you tell me what seismic activity was like in the 1800’s? 1700’s? 1600’s?
Also an increase in 2 Peter 3:4.
Not to mention the wars and rumors of wars.
Uh, no.
Read Mathew a little more carefully. He says NOT to get all worked up looking for his second coming just because of wars, earthquakes, famines, etc:
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is NOT yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
When will it come?
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
The innuendo and non-sequitir meters are now pegged.
FYI, we live on magma, lot’s of magma
God wants us to be happy and strive to be worthy of his presence. I’m not going to spend my time worrying about when or how God will return.
I try (and often fail) to live as if God were coming tomorrow.
Your right. You can never be light hearted in a Religion thread.
The rack awaits!
This could also be an indication of how much geology has advanced in the past few centuries.
Good point!
Also 200 years ago world population was what 1/10th of now?
Which means many fewer populated areas to be affecte.
This is as phony as man made global warming.
Comedian faults audience for failing to laugh alert.
This is “ye old birth pang theory”. Been around for at least 20 years that I can remember.
