Polygamy: Will You Have to Share Your Husband With Other Women?
Latter Day Saint Woman ^ | January 3, 2011 | Latter Day Saint Woman

A few years ago I watched a you-tube video called “Emma Smith — Never Had an Ordinary Day ”. It emphasized several traumatic events from Emma’s life with background music repeating the words “How much can one heart take?” This video didn’t mention what I believe was the most difficult thing Emma’s heart endured—the unfaithfulness of her husband!

Every woman should put themselves in Emma’s place. How would you feel if your husband told you he had received a revelation from God commanding plural marriage? He then “obeys” God by “marrying” several women and consummates those marriages. Imagine, lying alone at night knowing that the man you love is in another room, being sexually involved with a woman whom he claims was given to him by God. Would you believe him and submit to his priesthood authority? It appears Emma tried to object, but Joseph claimed God told her to “receive all those that have been given unto” him or she would be “destroyed” (D&C 132:52, 64).

The same year I watched the you-tube video I also followed along with the Relief Society Lessons as they studied the “Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith”. It was not easy for me to read Lesson 20 “A Heart Full of Love and Faith: The Prophet’s Letters to His Family”. It made me sick to my stomach to read Joseph’s love letters to Emma, knowing that he was being sexually intimate with other women. It’s hard to understand how any man could declare his loyalty and love to his wife; while at the same time destroying that intimacy by giving it to other women. While it’s hard to understand, I know it happens because the man I married in the temple did this to me.

I thought this was an interesting subject and a question that never got resolved by some of our friends.

It’s a satanic cult, what do you expect.

Pray for America

Hey, work on a few hundred snake-oil ministries over a few decades, eventually you will hit on one that will stick (”Joseph Smith” was the Billy Mays of religion in his day — he was hoping something would grab the weak-minded).

A few golden tickets out of Frosty’s magic hat, a handful of “have sex with as many young women as you want” — add in a specific forced financial contribution to The Cause and you have:

SCIENTOLOGY!

OOpps, I meant The “Church” of Latter Day Satanism.

Oh well, it is the same.

Not so bad as islam — that is probably a good slogan for both.

Alternative story: Incest: Will you have to share your husband with your children?

At least in France and some other countries.

It’s shocking to think that there are still women that go along with this in the flds church.

It’s shocking to see and hear of people not willing to look into Joseph Smiths past. He was such a horn dog.

If they were like mine, that would not be so bad... But if the other wives were like her other daughters.. NO Thanks. Although when they were young they were both lookers, but after both, at different times, lived with us for short periods.. well, I learned that looks only go so far, and as it turned out, only last so long, at least in their cases. (Love them too, but as sisters who live in other cities, one of them over 1,000 miles away)

Two things. 1) There's the bizarre reason behind polygamy that is just as troubling as polygamy itself. From Brigham Young: "When our father Adam came into the Garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body, and brought Eve, one of his wives, with him. He helped to make and organize this world. He is Michael, the Archangel, the Ancient of Days, about whom holy men have written and spoken-He is our father and our God, and the only God with whom we have to do." The story is that "God" was once just a man, and that one day every devout Mormon man shall one day be a "God" over his own universe. Hence the need to have a bunch of wives to procreate the next batch of "Gods." 2) This isn't just a problem with Mormons, of course. There are also the Muslims:

Sure...I’d share mine.

Each of his “other wives” could take home a piece of him in a Ziploc bag.

Yeah. Sounds nice, but usually the chicks into this are not exactly Cathrine Zeta Jones.

I don't even wear sneakers with black socks and I'm a square.

i have a soulmate wife...the sort of closeness and heat they write prose over.....we are very lucky....and a blind date so many years ago now

but women can be EXTREMELY. DIFFICULT.....even good ones....so how in hell could. i manage multiple wives?

concubines or handmaidens....maybe

but the little secret is the wives manage the husband....these arrangements work when the wives want it...not the other way around...anyone married knows that

The real victims are the kids. Imagine seeing your daddy going to one woman after another, and, having to call all those women “mom,” often not knowing who your real mom is. Also, the kids are used as pawn as the women jockey for power within the family.

Grow up to your teens and, if you are a male, you are almost always thrown out (you are competition for the prettier younger women).

If you are a female, you get the delight of marrying some 50 year old twit with 5 other wives when you are at your most attractive marrying age.

And the cycle continues.
