Church seeks recognition for Virgin Mary vision

Tradition holds she appeared in Brown Co. in 1859

snip

In October 1859, Sister Adele Brise claimed the Virgin Mary spoke to her and told her to teach God's word to children. The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help was built on the site, and has kept a steady following of people like Hal and Val Dubois.

Jesus is not inadequate at all. At least Catholics don’t believe that.

This is a message FROM Jesus. Did you watch the video or read the whole article?

And BTW, are you a Catholic? This is a Catholic Caucus thread.

Here are the rules as posted (my copy and paste) on the Religion Moderator's profile page.

Caucus threads.

Who can post? Members of the caucus and those specifically invited

What can be posted? Anything but the beliefs of those who are not members of the caucus

What will be pulled? Reply posts mentioning the beliefs of those who are not members of the caucus. If the article is inappropriate for a caucus, the tag will be changed to open.

Who will be booted? Repeat offenders.

1859

I remember saying, "let's not be hasty" or something like that.

I hope to get some friends together and make the trip out there in the Spring.

It’s a wonderful miracle. God makes Himself known in ways that are unmistakeable.

I wish I knew why Our Lady decides (or perhaps I should say, is sent) to appear to some people. She does not invariably appear to the mostly saintly people either, just choosing an ordinary nun or kids or regular people. It’s so interesting to contemplate why certain folks have the great blessing and great responsibility placed on them.

This Religion Forum thread is labeled “Catholic Caucus” meaning if you are not currently an active Catholic, do not post on this thread.

Jesus loves His mother very much. He wants us to love her, too. What son would not want his mother to be loved, especially the Savior of all mankind. Jesus sends His mother to us for a reason. If you read about the many times He has done this, you will find that in every case, Mary points us to her Son, not to herself.

I think "is sent" is the right way to put it.

As for why ... my first thought is that multiple dissertations could be dedicated to that topic and still leave more questions than answers. Some canonized saints were widely viewed as "saintly" in their earthly lifetimes, others were barely known.

Hmmm ... God calls all of us to be "saintly", to be holy, to be His messengers in this corrupted world. Certainly all baptized Christians are so called. The way we are called, though, I agree: it often seems very unlikely.
