Does that mean I shouldn’t plant my tomatoes on May 20th?

Well, let’s just say he didn’t die the way Hugh Hefner is going to die (or the way Nelson Rockefeller died.)

“Methus’lah lived nine hundred years,
Methus’lah lived nine hundred years,
But who calls dat livin’
When no gal will give in
To no man what’s nine hundred years ?”

So how did Methuselah (מְתוּשָׁלַח) die?

He finally just got tired of living, I guess. 969 years old? I'd be tired out.

He drowned.

Of course the Bible doesn't say that. It could be inferred from the chronology of his years and the timing of the flood, but there is nothing to confirm that’s a valid inference. It's just so much speculation.

Speculation, yes, but viable. It’s my theory, and I’m sticking to it.

If you have offices in Oakland I can see how you might be preaching the end of times.

Well, the bright side to this is we don’t have to worry anymore about December 21, 2012.

does he say what happened in 1988 to cause the Church age to end, or how we can know it ended?

I think these are the people who I’ve been getting free pocket calendars from for years, I didn’t know they were a bunch of kooks. Now this year no pocket calendar for 2011 or maybe it only goes until May 21 or Oct 21, supposedly they are going to send me some kind of pocket calendar but I haven’t gotten it yet. But even if they send me one good until May 21 or Oct 21 what happens if they’re wrong and I need a calendar until Dec 31? Maybe next year they will send me a full year pocket calendar and act like nothing happened, although there is the other crowd that says 2012 is definitely the end of time (but I think it’s late in December, so at least they can print a full year 2012 calendar or almost full year). That would be a good book idea, chronicle all the end times predictions that have been wrong, there have been many. I like the ones where the cult killed themselves, thus bringing about their “end times” so I guess you could say in a way they were right (or they could at least “save face” and “claim credit” for being right, that is, if they were still here to do it).

Prince can write a new song, “tonight we’re gonna party like it’s May 20, 2011.”

So now would be the best time for me to get involved in the "No payment until 2012" entire living room group deal???

Please let me know...my recliner is getting old.

“Camping does not intend to be disappointed. He has no plans for May 21 other than to “watch and wait,” he said.

He scoffed when asked how he might feel if he wakes up on May 22.

“I would be disobeying God if I say there’s a possibility of that,” he said. “I mean it with all my heart. There’s no possibility - none, none, none - that it will not happen.”

The guy is 89. It might be the end of the world for him on May 22.

Five months later, on Oct. 21, "the entire universe will be annihilated."

Women, minorities and illegal undocumented immigrants worst affected.

OK, I have a question. Will the earth end a day sooner in Japan?

You bet!

My memory is vague, but the Feast of Trumpets is interesting. IIRC, it is the only Jewish Feast that Jesus did not ALREADY do something on.

The Feast of Trumpets has some weird way of determining when it starts, something like when the morning sun is first observed at Jerusulem after the 9th new moon of the year (something like that - happens in the fall).

But - because the visual of the sun will vary with cloud cover because it needs to be “observed” - the EXACT time (they even give it a +/- a day I think!) the Feast begins can’t be determined.

Who knows - but I found it interesting, and it takes into account the “no one knows the day or hour”. And we are still called to “look for the signs” available to us to watch for. Although with all the earthquakes, hurricanes, etc. - I guess I end up tuning out trying to see “signs”.

I suppose in hindsight it will be pretty obvious! (Just like all the other times God has worked in my life. He just needs to use a 2x4 to get my attention most of the time!)

My old man gave me that little book years ago. I know he always felt bad for me growing up in “the times” and the hardship that I would bear. (Just like I feel for my kids now!) He was very into the charismatic stuff towards the end of his life - he had been raised that way. Good for him, except when he would look down on others. And I would take him to task for it. He passed away years ago (Hmm - in 1988!!! Wow!).

So just like my old man, the end of the world will come to each of us. And we won’t know the day or the hour.
