Buzz about the 2012 presidential election is already in full swing. But with no real Republican front-runner, really, anyone is game. Weve been hearing Mitt Romneys name tossed around as a potential for a while now, but two weeks ago we started hearing another familiar name: Jon Huntsman.
While Huntsman doesnt have the same national profile as Romney, he has gained status as the ambassador to China and might become more of a threat in the upcoming year. Can you imagineTWO Mormons (gasp) both running for president?
Now, I understand my next thought doesnt apply to every Mormon, BUT, I know of a lot of members who vote for politicians based on the fact that they, too, are LDS. And honestly, I know that Ive been unjustifiably biased toward LDS politicians for the sole reason that we share a religion.
But what if Romney and Huntsman go head to head in 2012? Who will the Mormons vote for?! If their only choice was Romney, I bet a fair number of Mormons wouldnt really give the other candidates a second thought. But throw Huntsman into the picture and we might actually have to do more research on each candidates stances. If they both end up running, it will be interesting to see how members react to the situation over the next two years. Do I sense a hint of BYU vs. Utah-style rivalry in the air?

The Seven Laws of Noah form the major part of the Noahide Laws or Noachide Code. This code is a set of moral imperatives that, according to the Talmud, were given by God as a binding set of laws for the children of Noah - that is, all of mankind.
According to Judaism any non-Jew who lives according to these laws is regarded as a Righteous Gentile and is assured of a place in the world to come (Olam Haba), the final reward of the righteous.
Adherents are often called “B’nei Noach” (Children of Noah) or “Noahides” and may often network in Jewish synagogues.
The seven laws listed by the Tosefta and the Talmud are
1.Prohibition of Idolatry
2.Prohibition of Murder
3.Prohibition of Theft
4.Prohibition of Sexual immorality
5.Prohibition of Blasphemy
6.Prohibition of eating flesh taken from an animal while it is still alive
7.Establishment of law courts
The Noahide Laws comprise the six laws which were given to Adam in the Garden of Eden according to the Talmud’s interpretation of Gen 2:16 and a seventh one, which was added after the Flood of Noah.

That said, with all of the free pornography available on the internet nowadays, I imagine their in-room movie sales have decreased precipitously. Yup...
...with all of the free LDS informastion available on the internet nowadays, I imagine their Investigator results are WAY down as well!

Let's start with where we agree, hypocrisy:
Speaking of HYPOCRITES...
WHY won't these LOVING and CARING men reach out to the people who actually follow MORMON scripture (D&C 132) and ALLOW them to be called MORMON?
Since the SLC hierarchy is afraid of the Government and NOT of GOD, THEY should be the ones who CANNOT be called MORMONs: NOT the FUNDAMENTALISTs!

I sustain the prophet because he is the Lords chosen. How he arranges for his chosen to be when and where he needs them isnt something I am personally privy to.
Words of Our Living Prophets In addition to these four books of scripture, the inspired words of our living prophets become scripture to us. Their words come to us through conferences, the Liahona or Ensign magazine, and instructions to local priesthood leaders. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God (Articles of Faith 1:9).
In conclusion let us summarize this grand key, these Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet, for our salvation depends on them.
1. The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.
2. The living prophet is more vital to us than the standard works.
3. The living prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet.
4. The prophet will never lead the church astray.
5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time.
6. The prophet does not have to say Thus Saith the Lord, to give us scripture.
7. The prophet tells us what we need to know, not always what we want to know.
8. The prophet is not limited by mens reasoning.
9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual.
10. The prophet may advise on civic matters.
11. The two groups who have the greatest difficulty in following the prophet are the proud who are learned and the proud who are rich.
12. The prophet will not necessarily be popular with the world or the worldly.
13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidencythe highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidencythe living prophet and the First Presidencyfollow them and be blessedreject them and suffer.
I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captainhow close do our lives harmonize with the Lords anointedthe living ProphetPresident of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency.

Thanks for the new tagline.
Sorry, I’ve been off the air quite a bit lately. I shouldn’t have to be still meeting a bottom line every month but this Lib Democrat economy is killing all the good action we used to get.
It is now worse than 1980(Carter) and 1989 (Earthquake in Calif) combined.
We need to start on the south twenty development with a better road, a retaining wall, utilities and new signage.
Bankers look at you like you’re crazy so we’ll have to do private money which is hard money.
HOPE and CHANGE is killing tourism and small business.
Romney wouldn’t be my choice, however I know several really strong apostates that would be ideal! They’re all too smart to be politicians though.

Style Guide - The Name of the Church
The official name of the Church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This full name was given by revelation from God to Joseph Smith in 1838.
While the term "Mormon Church" has long been publicly applied to the Church as a nickname, it is not an authorized title, and the Church discourages its use.
When writing about the Church, please follow these guidelines:
- In the first reference, the full name of the Church is preferred: "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints".
- Please avoid the use of "Mormon Church", "LDS Church" or the "Church of the Latter-day Saints".
- When a shortened reference is needed, the terms "the Church" or "the Church of Jesus Christ" are encouraged.
- When referring to Church members, the term "Latter-day Saints" is preferred, though "Mormons" is acceptable.
- "Mormon" is correctly used in proper names such as the Book of Mormon, Mormon Tabernacle Choir or Mormon Trail, or when used as an adjective in such expressions as "Mormon pioneers."
- The term "Mormonism" is acceptable in describing the combination of doctrine, culture and lifestyle unique to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
- When referring to people or organizations that practice polygamy, the terms "Mormons," "Mormon fundamentalist," "Mormon dissidents," etc. are incorrect. The Associated Press Stylebook notes: "The term Mormon is not properly applied to the other ... churches that resulted from the split after [Joseph] Smith's death."

You construct some darned good straw men, I will give you that, but they are so easy to smack down. Are you going to give yourself a trophy too or just limit the self-congratulations to patting yourself on the back?
I noticed in your response that you liked to take what Colofornian said and twist it a bit and then respond to your own restatement of the position. There's a name for that tactic...what's it called? Oh yeah, a straw man.
BTW I noticed that you've been a member now for a whole day. Have you posted before under a different screen name? Your attitude and styles of writing and argumentation put me in mind of another poster whom I have not seen for a month or so.

I would personally not vote for someone who was Mormon, Scientologist, Muslim, Moonie, Krishna, etc. Its not bigotry, its my right as an American to vote my conscience.I generally agree with what you said. I have voted for Mormons in the past but I don't think that I would vote for a committed one as POTUS or for a ticket with a committed Mormon as VP. I have seen first-hand the influence that the "church" has on its committed members and it could be too easily exploited by unelected men with a different agenda. A jack Mormon who lives a respectable life might be a different story.
The thinking of our candidates on spiritual matters provides good information to us about their character and thought processes. I think that it is perfectly okay for an individual to include this in the evaluation of a candidate.
I was dismayed by a graduate student in the 2008 election. When a comment was made about how many might not vote for Romney because of his Mormonism, the student responded with the statement: "That's unconstitutional", apparently unaware the religious test doesn't apply to the individual voter's decision process.
