I posted something by Chesterton yesterday, and some FReepers really liked it. Here is something else.

Sorry for the cheesy emoticon but it’s how I feel after reading that

Thanks for the Chesterton posts, the big guy never disappoints.
Nine out of ten of what we call new ideas are simply old mistakes.
Yes, hidden away by the obscurity of history only to rise again as a lightbulb in a fools mind.
It sounds harmless to say, as most modern people have said: "Actions are only wrong if they are bad for society." Follow it out, and sooner or later you will have the inhumanity of a hive
A few of us went around and around with this on an earlier thread about Atheism. It is the morality of Atheism, and the only morality Atheism can support.

Whew! Thank God I'm already a Catholic, or I might have had to read all that! ;)
but seriously folks: Chesterton's always worth the time. I just have a long to-do list at the moment.
Common sense bump.
To: johngrace
Has he read “Orthodoxy”? And if so, have you discussed it with him?

Prayers for Dan. It’s been my experience that most Catholics — momentarily agnostic — do come back to the faith.
Keep giving him the good stuff, though!

Yes, if there’s one single book of Chesterton’s that is most useful in teasing out the nature of Catholic truth, it is Orthodoxy.
A brilliant book.
