In the sermon descriptively entitled, That Hearing and Keeping the Word of God Renders a Person More Blessed Than Any Other Privilege That Ever God Bestowed on Any of the Children of Men, Jonathan Edwards writes: The hearing and keeping the word of God brings the happiness of a spiritual union and communion with God. Tis a greater blessedness to have spiritual communion with God and to have a saving intercourse with him by the instances of his Spirit and by the exercise of true devotion than it is to converse with God externally, to see the visible representation and manifestations of his presence and glory, and to hear his voice with the bodily ears as Moses did. For in this spiritual intercourse the soul is nigh unto and hath more a particular portion than in any external intercourse. Tis more blessed to be spiritually related to Jesus Christto be his disciples, his brethren and the membersthan to stand in the nearest temporal relation, than to be his brother or his mother. Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus, ed. Nancy Guthrie, 57.
Doesn't that make us all arks of the covenant?
After all,
1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are Gods temple and that Gods Spirit dwells in you?
1 Corinthians 6:19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
Since Christ is living in me now, how does that make me any different than Mary who merely had Christ living in her in a body for only a few months.
Nature of the beast!
If Mary weren't sinful...then her parents must have been free of sin...and their parents...and so on.
Enough of this syncretistic goddess worship! Away with Semiramis and Isis!
***She is not a sinner.***
Of course she isn’t a sinner. She is now glorified and in Heaven.
Now, Mary was a sinner otherwise she would not have needed a Savior!
That statement is soooo wrong....The truth is Christ stands between God and humanity. Mary has no place in the Godhead whatsoever...regardless who states so of whatever faith they hold to.
"From the fullness of HIS GRACE we have all received one blessing after another......Grace and Truth came through Christ" John 1:16

AMEN!
Argue with Luther, he said it.
LOL.
IIRC,
CONSIDERING THAT JESUS HIMSELF SAID . . .
ALL THE SAINTS PAST WANTED TO BE BORN IN THE END TIMES ERA . . .
“Look how the ark of the covenant was treated. It was very well respected.”
The ark became an object of superstition during the time of Samuel and God allowed it to fall into the hands of the Philistines. After Solomon there is no mention of the ark for over 500 years and then it is brought out of obscurity during Josiah’s reformation. It is taken to Babylon during the exile of Judah and not heard from again until the anti-type is revealed in Revelation.
That’s how I read it, too, metmom. AND we are sealed unto the day of redemption. We also have that promise. And all by God’s grace. That we might be to the praise of HIS GLORY.
Also keep in mind....this was from her heart and her own words...not some canned prayer the Synagogue gave her to recite so she could feel Holy before Him.
You do realize that Luther was saying Mary was born subject to original sin and therefore was a sinner, don't you?
I'm always amazed by the Jekyll and Hyde reaction ol' Martin provokes amongst Roman Catholics in general, anyway. One day, it's spitting nails and calling him every name in the book, and the next he's nearing sainthood.
Maybe an official Vatican interpretation of Martin Luther would calm things down a bit, make the reaction a little less like an out of control pendulum swinging wildly back and forth.
Yes there are many misinformed catholics but what matters is what the church teaches. If a catholic is in error, that does not represent what the church teaches.
This sinless nonsense only leads to idolatry. We see it everyday bowing down, kneeling, worshiping Mary. It is wrong.
If it was so essential for Jesus to be in a sinless environment why was he born in a stable. He was surrounded by animals, dirt and feces.
No, my argument is not with Luther... as I expressly stated ..any faith who adheres to that is wrong. Furthermore our faith does not rest in what literary works there are out there, nor the men who wrote them. Although those works can and do enlarge ones understanding on occasions. If it does not stand to the truth of Gods word then it is wrong...no matter who states it.
Too often people put their faith in anther's opinions or writings of what Gods word is saying...and make it their own, rather than seek out what God Himself has written for us about the matter...and discussing it with Him. All things disputable should be presented to Him and not simply accepted because an author has his own conclusions of a matter...and worse... when those authors opinions are then presented by leadership as truth when in fact they oppose Gods word.
**Are You More Blessed Than the Virgin Mary?**
Heaven sakes, no.
.....”The ark became an object of superstition during the time of Samuel and God allowed it to fall into the hands of the Philistines. Thank you...I had forgotten this. Good post blue-duncan.
“...any faith who adheres to that is wrong. “
LOL, putting yourself outside of the majority of Christendom from Day One until now. Very odd.
“We see it everyday bowing down, kneeling, worshiping Mary. It is wrong.”
Again, the Catholic Church does not teach that we kneel worshipping Mary. That is simply false! We worship God alone, to do otherwise, is a grave sin. Catholics worship God alone. We do NOT worship Mary or the saints or anybody else.
I’m sure there are many catholics in error who do worship Mary, they are wrong to do so. It is not what the church teaches.
SOUNDS VERY BIBLICAL, TO ME.
THX.
Enjoy yourselves.
I just gave a brief talk on Truth which I concluded thus
This "always Yes", this affirmation of Suffering and Redeeming Love, this constant Champion of Truth, came to us by the loving gift, and self-gift, of his mother. So I would like to close in prayer to our Patroness, Mary, Mother of God, Truth bearer. To be mocked and slandered, to be barraged with ignorant sophistries and with all the evidences of the debilitating effect of heresy on the intellect, the proof of the accuracy of Dante's description of those who, preferring strife to peace, have rejected salvation: [loro] che hanno perduto il ben del intelleto, these stripes are like balm.Oremus:
Dearest Virgin Mary, Mother of the Truth of God: It was as at this time that you were heavy with the Truth of God. Holding nothing back, you committed yourself to that Truth in utter obedience, and by the Holy Spirit Truth was planted deep within you, there to grow until the time of His disclosure. You contemplated the Truth and all that took place around His birth. You loved and nurtured that Truth, you sought Him in anxiety and followed Him into the world and even to the foot of the Cross.
You rejoiced in the triumph of the Truth and were bathed in the wind and fire of the Spirit of Truth.
We beg you to accept our devotion to you and to your Son.
We ask that we too by your intercession may follow and care for the truth, may seek Him with anxiety, and rejoice in His triumph. May we also disclose him at the proper time.
In service and love of that Truth, we commit our lives, our hearts, our minds, ourselves to you, oh calm, gentle, and sweet, oh Blessed mother.
Amen.
