In a major recession, some brainiacs decided they want to build a $150 million Noah's Ark Amusement Park in Kentucky. The effort is backed by Answers in Genesis, the group that sunk millions into a "creation" museum that highlights their distorted view of science with such things as men living with dinosaurs.
Many Christians are asking, however, aren't there better things to spend this money on?
"Hungry people, missionaries, new churches, charities, all should be higher on the list. This is embarassing," said one churchgoer.
Another added, "How can we afford to waste this money while the government is busy destroying our economy?"
"It's time to reign in these people and put the money to something God would be proud of."
If it is the “false” Christians that care about helping people, we are in more trouble than I thought.
Actually they are using some tax money. Who will the park remind? Do you think the non-believers will say, “Hey let’s take the kids to the Ark Park todday!” ? Maybe building churches in all of the unreached parts of this country would be more effective.
Helping the poor, that’s a very dispicable agenda. People like you really make Christians look horrible. Keep up the good work.
>Wheres the article, slick? I searched <
Did you use google?

Flushed out like a stopped up toilet.
Misdirection is the mark of the Evo-Atheist. I won’t even begin to respond to that ignorance... if you can read your reply and then read your post and come up with some logical parallel, then you are exactly as misguided as I assumed.
Try posting an actual story or listing some references and not just your perverted evo-fantasies and maybe I won’t be so hard on you.
AIG believes what they preach. They are an organization built on Christian Apologetics. Answering those who disagree is what they do... I can’t expect someone with your superior intellect to grasp such a simple concept.
If it could turn a profit and the money then be used for good purposes then there’s nothing to be ashamed of.
I doubt it could turn much of a profit though.
I’m sure you think yourself a great intellectual, but your self-ignorance is just amazing. Considering that I think evolution is a fraud, you have embarassed yourself even more. Yes, your toliet comment is a sign of great, superior, unmatched brainpower. You are free to be a dutiful foot-soldier for the folks of AIG, I’m sure you have their talking-points ready at a moments notice. This much is obvious because “AIG” is all you saw in that article. I’m sure they trained you to think that way in Thought Camp.
Ken got over $20 million in 'donations' to build the museum.
Is he making a profit and is he claiming those 'donations' as income?
There’s a church here in the neighborhood that has a Noah’s Ark-themed playground. I don’t know what the children’s Sunday School is like. I have attended adult services there a few times. My sense of it however is that it is not “big box.” I think “big box” would be simply putting up a basketball goal and letting neighborhood kids play there.
I realize there is a *huge* difference between a neighborhood playground and an amusement park.
“Did you use google?” Yepper.
If you stop and think about it, the the Noah’s Ark
waterpark would be a great place for mass baptisms.
And with that attitude, why evangelize at all? Unbelievers won't hear - right?
Its ultimately the Holy Spirit who does the work of converting, but we're given the privilege to spread the Word by whatever means we can. AiG's ministry is to remind people that God's Word is Truth and they are trying to rehabilitate a society that believe that its a myth.
Building a scale replica of an Ark as a counterpoint to the fantasy 'arks' portrayed in most people's minds (e.g., the oversized, unstable, rowboat with a small house on top with the Giraffe sticking its head out of window) is a reasonable way to convey this message.
Do you believe what you say you believe deeply enough others opinions don’t shake you? Or is your belief more closely related to a strong opinion?
Nothing frustrates the educated mind more than a differing opinion, yet nothing is more essential to the shoring up of ones personal conviction. Once again the wise old adage stands the test of time... no pain, no gain.
What I know is you ridicule those who believe in Creation the way it is described in the Bible.
What I know is that your answers are formulaic like Evo’s.
What I know is the title of your “embarrassing” article is Christians Embarassed of Proposed “Noah’s Ark Amusement Park”.
What I also know is that if you believe you’re in good company posting this kind of drivel on freerepublic, then you may be right. There are plenty of those on this site who ridicule and malign anyone who believes the Bible is literal in its depiction of creation.
What I know is your kind makes me ill... your self-righteousness and arrogance is every bit as sickening as the religious zealots on the site who call themselves Atheists and Darwinists. Do you think your posting history is not viewable?
By the way... you may use spell check next time you post a title. Now thats embarrassing!
You miss my point. That money can be used to reach many more people in many more locations. We need to be responsible with our money and multiply it.
“Since you were confused, let me explain it: It was about Christians wasting money on stupid stuff when they should be helping the world around them.”
That’s their call, not yours. Most americans are spending tons of money on all kinds of stuff at the mall right now as is their right.
It’s kind of funny that you accuse me of “ self-righteousness and arrogance” as you write a post full of those things. I posted something you didn’t like and you got angry like a child. That’s the bottom line. You can’t get past that there are people who don’t agree with AIG, that is unfathomable to you. You remind me of a liberal friend who gets all emotional when even the least bit challenged on something.
What about the thirsty? Don't they matter?
You’re a funny girl! I look forward to your future posts filled with factual information and chock-full of good-will for all mankind!
Bye now!
It is their right.
” and pretends that God is an old duff who maybe did something billions a years ago, but has been ‘hands-off’ ever since. The Global Flood says otherwise”
In order to get to a multi-billion year universe, one must first deny the flood of Noah. That’s a real problem for OEC’ers.
That’s the rationale, of course, and you are free to send your money and spend your vacations at Bibleland amusement park or whatever else some promoter concocts. IMO, there are much worthier endeavors and more immediate concerns for Christians to pursue.
