Please pray for my brother-in-law Dennis who is having two knee replacements. He will have the first surgery on December 9 and the second on December 14.
Dennis has been hurting for about 3 years now, and his son reports that he just does not walk much when they are at their hunting camp. My sister had to nag him into this, and they made a deal that it would be scheduled for after deer season. He was, though, trying to stall to get through muzzle loader season, too, but sis convinced him to miss it this year.
We do, indeed, live in a wonderful time. My husband had a hip replacement in January, and he is doing just fine. Years ago, he would have been confined to a wheelchair. We are blessed to have so many medical advances.
Prayers up for successful surgery and quick recovery. Looks like you two will be in the hospital around the same time.
Yes, they are close together, but I have heard of people having two within a shorter span of time. I guess there are many factors that dictate the best practice. These are not total replacements — more like resurfacing — so I suppose that is a major consideration.
Thank you for your prayers and words of advice and encouragement. I will give you an update when I can. God bless all of you.
Then he will be up and walking with in 3 hrs. Hubby only carried the crutch around to make the medical staff happy. Was driving within 3 days. That pain pump is marvelous! But do get him knee warmers. I knit hubby’s first one last year, then found these at Miles Kimball’s and they work better.
It even straightened out his leg and back at the same time, a 2fer is always nice.
Well, that is wonderful. I think Dennis will be up and about quickly, as well, as he is a determined person.
Plus my sister is a super nag, so she will work on him big time. (Yes, I’ll be showing her this thread, so she will see what I said about her. It’s okay, though, because she knows she is one. :-)
I pray for successful surgeries for Dennis as well as speedy physcial therapy recovery!

Prayers for success of the surgeries!

And for the Anesthesiologist to do what he's supposed to do and to do it correctly.
(I'm supposed to have One Knee replaced. I'm apprehensive due to all the other operations I've had.)
(1) Pain is our friend. It helps you heal, and this type of surgery will take time.
(2) Minimize the intake of painkillers to the degree possible. That way you can "kick the habit" faster.
(3) Leave EVERYTHING to God for a while because you will definitely need to pay your full attention to rehab.
That's from my older crew of friends ~ half a dozen new knee joints (postal workers eh), as many new hips, bone spur removals from feet, and all the many other wonderful things this world can provide these days.
Oh, yes, and leave it to God, your surgeons and your friends to watch the videos about this surgery for you.
You have my heartfelt wish that you make it through this ordeal and go on to walk.
Note, I, too, was recently the recipient of prayers from 5 sisters in law, and virtually every FREEPER. This works.
