One Mediator Between God and Men: CHRIST JESUS
2010 | God's Word

Posted on 12/03/2010 4:14:50 PM PST by bibletruth

1 Timothy 2:5 ...one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

There is NO debate here: God's Word clearly points out who the mediator is between God and men: i.e., Christ Jesus

If you believe in God's Word, who is Christ Jesus: The Word of God, then 1 Timothy 2:5 will be easily be understood as Christ the mediator.

I noticed that some of those titles are right out of the Catechism of the Catholic church.....

They can’t claim not sanctioned by the church in those cases.

Thank you very much for the post. You are absolutely right in your post, the only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ. He died for our sins and will intercede with us for God's Mercy. Thank you again...

From Bible sources as listed...is my first course of action. But I like the scripture references you gave.

NET © Be careful not to allow anyone to captivate you 1 through an empty, deceitful philosophy 2 that is according to human traditions and the elemental spirits 3 of the world, and not according to Christ.

NIV ©

biblegateway Col 2:8
See to it that no-one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.

NASB ©

biblegateway Col 2:8
See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.

NLT ©

biblegateway Col 2:8
Don’t let anyone lead you astray with empty philosophy and high–sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the evil powers of this world, and not from Christ.

MSG ©

biblegateway Col 2:8
Watch out for people who try to dazzle you with big words and intellectual double-talk. They want to drag you off into endless arguments that never amount to anything. They spread their ideas through the empty traditions of human beings and the empty superstitions of spirit beings. But that’s not the way of Christ.

BBE ©

SABDAweb Col 2:8
Take care that no one takes you away by force, through man’s wisdom and deceit, going after the beliefs of men and the theories of the world, and not after Christ:

NRSV ©

See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ.

NKJV ©

biblegateway Col 2:8
Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

We recreate Christ’’s sacrafice daily to remind ourselves of the selfless love he holds for all of us,

If you weren't taught that, you wouldn't think that way - since it is not Scriptural. It's a man made doctrine - void of anything God.

Don't you see His love in your everyday events? Did His love for you stop back at The Cross that you have to go back to it to remind you?

Our fellowship with God is personal, between you and HIM.

You are free to do what you want and all your thoughts about Mary - just know it is not Scriptural which means it is not from God. If you chose to follow man made doctrine/beliefs, you nullify the Word of God.

Is 29:13 The Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.

As we know, God looks on the heart.

You have helped Christians in times of trial, temptation and danger
the Refuge of sinners,
the Hope of the hopeless
the Consoler of the afflicted, and
the Comforter of the dying.

These are all given from Christ and He alone....not Mary..Never Mary.

There is no scripture assigning these to her....no story of her being a refuge fo any sinner...nor bringing anyone hope. Further we are counsoled and comforted within by His Holy Spirit.

Narses, I don’t think that participating in these threads is a good idea, for the same reason that playing around with Ouija Boards and seances is a bad idea.

Can’t you smell him?

You gave the impression you meant actual titles (Creator, Savior, Sanctifier, Most High) or attributes (omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, immutability, impassibility, etc.) proper only to God. Many people are in fact and in certain circumstances our hope, our advocates, counsellors, mediators and comforters -- these are not titles or attributes exclusive to God and acting in such functions does not make them God.

what's you take on these elemental spirits.

I believe they'd be the "spirits" of water, earth, air and fire -- hallmarks of animism. A Muslim once told me that the Arabs were animists before Mohammed.

Do you have idea of the number of philosophies circulating in the Greek-speaking world of the time? I remember this only vaguely from college, but I believe all of the philosphies (as distinct from the mystery religions) had the distinguishing characteristic of depending entirely on reason as opposed to revelation. From what I've read, there really was no connection between the thinking of the philosophers and the mythology of the people, so that the philosophies always remained religiously sterile, and the mythologies never became anything approaching theology.
