1 Timothy 2:5 ...one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
There is NO debate here: God's Word clearly points out who the mediator is between God and men: i.e., Christ Jesus
If you believe in God's Word, who is Christ Jesus: The Word of God, then 1 Timothy 2:5 will be easily be understood as Christ the mediator.
Catholics have no clue what the Gospel is
Catholics have no clue what the Gospel is
Catholics have no clue what the Gospel is
Catholics have no clue what the Gospel is
Catholics have no clue what the Gospel is
Catholics have no clue what the Gospel is
I know, what a bleak eternity they will face
Written by a former Catholic Priest..
The word Vicar means ANOTHER ..the pope is "another christ"That is what YOU claimed. You FAIL, as far as any kind of objective honesty or accuracy goes with regards to the use of words. Got it? You FAIL. You either LIED or made up a definition of a word to fit your FALSE view of what I believe and what the entire Catholic Church today and throughout history believes, a truly EPIC failure on your part. No Sweetie, YOU said:
The word Vicar means ANOTHER ..the pope is "another christ"I know, I repeat myself. Your FAILURE is SO enormous it deserves repeating.
I say God Bless those street preachers. No one knows how many people walk by and hear The Gospel for the first time. They may not become Christians right then and there, but the seed is planted.
My FIL was a lifelong church going EO/RC and it wasn't until he started coming to church with us in his last couple years of life that he heard THE GOSPEL and was saved. We can't assume people know it and believe it.
Indeed. If they are actually preaching God’s True Word. The twaddle and bigotry on this thread hardly qualifies as that.
Hallelujah!!!!!
Well, many of us were raised Catholic and know what we were taught, even if it was contrary to official church doctrine, and we remember the prayers we were taught and heard.
Yeah, they do pray to her for salvation.
There may be examples of that downthread. I just haven’t gotten that far yet.
Mary died. We are prohibited from trying to contact the dead, which prohibition was never lifted. There is no prohibition for contacting the living.
That’s too convoluted.
Why can’t the Catholic church keep it simple and go right to the Father as Jesus told us to and taught us to in the Lord’s Prayer?
How would you know if you don't know The Gospel?
The twaddle and bigotry on this thread hardly qualifies as that.
This is the last refuge for those that can't win the the discussion. Accuse everyone who tries to point out the error of being a bigot.
Having family members who are former RC's I'm familiar with their ignorance of the term The Gospel. Once it was explained and shown where it is in Scripture (actually it's all over the place) most of them became Born Again Christians. If you really want to embrace Christianity and want Jesus to call you brethren you must believe The Gospel.
However, if you do believe The Gospel you will quickly see how a works based salvation is false.
Read ICor.15:1-4
“Catholics don’t pray to Mary, we ask Mary to pray for us. “
A distinction without a difference.
Then why are all the communications with Mary called “PRAYERS”???
This is what a google search of *prayers to Mary* will get you. “About 7,150,000 results”
That's rich, one failed ex-Catholic citing another failed ex-Catholic as an valid source for what the Catholic Church actually teaches. And you wonder why you are the subject of ridicule within the FREEPER Catholic community. No one other than your anti-Catholic cabal takes you seriously.
Well, DBK, speaking as one those “sola scriptura heretics/pundits,” for which kindly-intended appellation thank you very much, I can see we’ll have to disagree before we’ve really begun. So be it. Your choice.
I’ll just leave you with this. Since you are presumably a man of science according to your chosen FR title, you know how so often the devil is in the details. Here is the sentence (and by that I mean the 2nd one of the two following) you wrote within which are the details that really do need to be examined: “That’s why Christ built a Church, even though He never wrote a book. He needed a Church here on earth to pass on the revealed Truths to His children, so He built a Church, gave it authority that is would never be overcome, and sent it His Holy Spirit to guide it to all Truth.”
“That’s why ...” I’ve always been leery of what follows statements that begin with, “That’s why ...” Deduction upon deduction upon deduction often ends up in a place no one really expected or intended to go.
I have no confidence in your deductions upon deductions. The heart, mind, and motives of man are never to be trusted, only the heart, mind, and motives of the Son of Man and Son of God. I have His words in the Holy Scriptures while at the same time I see the words of the church you claim handed down His truth to us. The plain sense of the two sets of words often differ. Somewhere in the details of those differences lies the devil, who doesn’t even need an address to find his prey.
Finally, you say:
“... attacking the body of Christ, including the communion of saints, is an attack on Christ Himself.”
I agree. And the devil is here in the details as well. I will choose to err on the side of generosity in my assumptions of just who is and who isn’t part of the “body of Christ.” And for that, I have awfully solid substantiation from OT and NT. But I think you know that.
Good day to you, sir.
“Why cant the Catholic church keep it simple and go right to the Father as Jesus told us to and taught us to in the Lords Prayer?”
In fact, the Holy Catholic Church does exactly that, every day, all around the world. It does that in the Sacrifice of the Mass, the Holy Eucharist. And every human being, by accepting Christ and by being in a State of Grace can come to Our Father, in Person, in the Flesh at that Mass. Truly an extraordinary Miracle, repeated daily in every nation and for the last 2,000+ years.
This is part of what confuses protestants and other heretics, since they fail to accept God’s simple Word and do not have the sublime Glory of this ultimate act of Worship, they see the many prayers of the Church in a false light. But when the Truth reaches them in all of the great beauty that Truth holds, then they come Home to Rome.
May the Blessing of Our Lord fall on all of us this wonderful season of Advent, as we all prepare to receive the King of Kings into our homes, our lives and our hearts.
“How would you know if you don’t know The Gospel?”
You claim to know the State of my Soul?
“A distinction without a difference.”
Wrong. If I ask you to pray for me (and I do, please!), am I worshiping you?
12 2Macc 15:12-16 3 What he saw was this: Onias, the former high priest, a good and virtuous man, modest in appearance, gentle in manners, distinguished in speech, and trained from childhood in every virtuous practice, was praying with outstretched arms for the whole Jewish community. 13
Then in the same way another man appeared, distinguished by his white hair and dignity, and with an air about him of extraordinary, majestic authority. 14
4 Onias then said of him, "This is God's prophet Jeremiah, who loves his brethren and fervently prays for his people and their holy city."
15 Stretching out his right hand, Jeremiah presented a gold sword to Judas. As he gave it to him he said, 16 "Accept this holy sword as a gift from God; with it you shall crush your adversaries."
That's rich, one failed ex-Catholic citing another failed ex-Catholic as an valid source for what the Catholic Church actually teaches. You assume that RnMomof7 is honest in her claims about being a former Catholic. Given her amazing ability to misrepresent simple words (vis. Vicar on this thread) and other Catholic concepts, I am unwilling to go that far. I will simply note that she CLAIMS to be a former Catholic. Failed, yes. Catholic, it hardly seems possible.
Well we see here at FR catholics do not know it
There is quite a difference. Do you pray to your husband to help with the dishes, or do you ask him to help with the dishes?
