In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

Would you bow down and kiss the Koran to appease a muslim or show deference to him and what he considers his holy book?

Muslims are our enemies. How would you show them that you are Christian?

Wouldn’t surprise me at this point after reading its homepage and posting history.

And it appears that it’s not the only one in that situation as the problem seems endemic amongst Catholics.

Sorry; my HTML formatting got screwed up.

Link #1 is from someone who professes to not be Catholic.

Jesus ability to walk through walls in His RESURRECTED body does not imply any special ability to pass through Mary’s body that way before His death

But Jesus did a lot of miracles that showed supernatural ability before His resurrection. He did, for example, walk on water.

She didn’t NEED to remain a virgin after the birth of Christ

She had no such obligation, to be sure, but it is reasonable that she did. Her womb was the true tabernacle, after all, something not to be touched.

On the contrary, I was pointing out the hypocrisy of the Catholic position in rejecting *sola Scriptura* simply because the term isn't found in the Bible, and yet it goes and teaches the Trinity, the *Mother of God*, the Immaculate Conception, the inerrancy of Scripture none of which are mentioned by term in the Bible.

And my point, too, was that there is more than sufficient Scriptural proof for the truths of sola scriptura, the trinity and sola fide even if the exact words are not used.

Who's to say they didn't just adopt him from someone else?

Of course. You either believe the Church or form your own theories. That is one of them. A number of biological children is another. Protestantism is the gateway lie to a complete loss of faith.

It's a lose/lose situation for Protestants. We're damned if we do and damned if we don't.

I wish I'd said that. It's true of course, and even more telling coming from a failed Catholic turned Protestant. Perhaps some day, even on your deathbed, you will repent. That is what we Christians pray for, you know. We don't hate you for departing from the Faith; we hope that God in His infinite mercy will rescue you from the sty that you chose to accomodate your soul. I was prodigal myself, and can empathize somewhat with your situation...

That’s backwards.

It’s the

Vatican Alice in Wonderland School of Theology and Reality Mangling

that denies and lies about the blood half brothers and sisters of Jesus by Mary and Joseph mentioned a number of times in Scripture.

NL- “Your mind has obviously been poisoned with Protestant threats of damnation. The souls cast into hell simply no longer exist, no fire, no brimstone, no nothing. The greatest punishment is an eternity without Christ.”

MM- That’s not what the Catholic church teaches in its Catechism.
It does not teach soul annihilation.

I agree, in fact, what our FRiend NL is espousing is what the Jehovah Witnesses believe. That souls do not face eternity suffering in hell, but are annihilated. It is also very curiously close to the concept of becoming one with the universe and losing all sense or knowledge of self - ceasing to really exist - that is held by Buddhism and Hinduism.

Hate the Muslims; You people call yourselves Christians? Based upon what? The image that you see in the mirror?

Your pope is the one that showed hate - he didn't give them what THEY NEEDED. He showed NO LOVE in embracing their demonic religion. "LOVE" would point to THE TRUTH no matter what!

judge Popes to hell before and in spite of Jesus.

People place themselves in hell - no one else has that power.

Jesus said we are too hate evil, turn from it, not kiss it. Your Pope had his own ideas on the matter. Nothing about Jesus in your Pope's actions. Too much catechism in him and no Word. No Word means no Jesus for HE is The Living Word.

You people call yourselves Christians?

Yep, those that follow CHRIST call themselves Christians. Those who follow man are called Catholics.

Based upon what?

What else is there but HIS WORD! HIS WORD REIGNS - Always has and always will!

The image that you see in the mirror?

The image that God sees in my Spirit. The Holy Spirit that lives within me and will never leave nor forsake me. And you want to know more? I go straight HOME to be with HIM for eternity! That's what I called BLESSED!! Thank You, Jesus!

None of that is incompatible whith what I posted. I just don't believe that "fire and brimstone" nonsense and do not believe that tere is any greater punishment than being deprived of an eternity in the presence of God.

The infamous atheist, Christopher Hitchens, would probably love this way of thinking. I heard him say that the very idea that those in heaven will sing praises to God non-stop for all eternity sounded so boring and unacceptable to him that he wanted no part of it anyway. He would be delighted to think that he will not have to face eternal misery in hell either if everyone lost is just annihilated and ceases to exist.

I ask one more time

I run about a week behind answering. This gap is not going to improve. Rest assured, everybody, if you pose a serious question, I will answer. If you see that I caught up with posts more recent than yours, I somehow missed your post. Then remind me by freepmail and point to the post I missed.

are you saying that the Mary, mother of James and Joses in Mark 15:40 is not the mother of Jesus and was not present at the time?

Combining all accounts (specifically Mark's and John's) we understand that Mary the Mother of God and Evangelist John were at the foot of the Cross. Mary the mother of James and Joses and Salome who is also the wife of one Cleophas, as well as Mary Magdalene and unnamed other women, and the Centurion, were at some distance away but also present. Three Marys in all among the named ones.

Here's a traditional icon of the scene:

Mary the Mother of God, and St,. John are in the foreground, nimbed. There are three more women in the background behind Mary, that is the two other Marys and an unnamed woman. The centurion is farther to Christ's left. The icon also shows multiple angels.

She had no such obligation, to be sure, but it is reasonable that she did.

No, it's not reasonable that she did. It's reasonable that she appropriately fulfilled her role to Joseph as his wife and bore him the children that the Bible mentions and names.

Her womb was the true tabernacle, after all, something not to be touched.

What a bunch of nonsense.

Christ is holy and sinless and is not corrupted by contact with sin. His environment did not need to be sinless for Him to inhabit it. Mary wasn't. She knew she needed a savior. She herself called God her *savior*.

There is NOTHING in Scripture that supports any of the contentions (fairy tales) that the Catholic church has made up about Mary.

Unfortunately, there is no evidence to support that.

How could YOU possibly know what is evidence of the HOLY SPIRIT?

The catholic standard would be ...If I have holy water on my head with a rosary dangling out of my pocket or if my nose was in the catechism or prayed to the dead saints or if I kiss the Koran. All void of the HOLY SPIRIT!

PRAISE GOD FOR HIS WORD!! Thank You, JESUS!

IT'S ALL ABOUT JESUS!

Believing the Bible isn't an option for Catholics, then, eh?
