The last time I was at Mass was about 18 years ago. A woman read from the Bible at the altar. I never went back. The Deity in charge understands.

I can truly appreciate how liturgical abuse might have this effect on you; I have been there, as well. 18 years is a long time to deprive yourself from receiving our Lord, truly present, in the Eucharist. In turning your back on the abuse at that particular parish, you are punishing only yourself. Please take a moment and visit the following link. Then, look around your community and seek another catholic parish. Regardless of the abuse, the words of consecration remain valid, as disturbing as that may seem. Look around and test the waters at a different parish. Much has changed over the past 18 years.

Catholics Come Home.

Was that a Catholic Church?

18 years ago was probably the high-water mark of the awful 'innovations'. And it's a shame to separate yourself from Christ's Bride and the Sacraments because of one foolish woman (who probably nagged the priest within an inch of his life until he gave in, not to mention that he may not have been able to find any male volunteers).

I would definitely give it another try. If you look around, you should be able to find a good, orthodox, conservative parish. First order of business is to find out if there's an FSSP parish in your diocese. Nobody is more conservative than they are (unless it's the SPPX crowd, but you don't necessarily want to go that far).

And, once you settle in, be sure to volunteer so that those managing women don't have an excuse to take over everything in sight!
