Im grateful to all the good citizens who pressure the politicians to remember the hungry of the world.
Feeding the hungry out of your own pocket - a good thing
Feeding the hungry by using money taken out of my pocket at gunpoint (thru taxes) - not at all good, not even moral.
But, that's just me. Forced charity is NOT charity.
Same with foreign aid?
NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!!!
Yes, same with foreign aid. If the people of the country want to give foreign aid then let them send a check. Any money taken from me by the govenrment needs to be used to represent me through government services, not given to someone else. I find all forms of welfare unconstitutional.
I got criticized here the other day for making the same suggestion you make - let private citizens determine for themselves what aid to give and where to give it.
“Israeli-Palestinian dispute”
I never have believed in “national interests”. If a nation becomes a threat to this nation then declare war; otherwise, the government needs to butt out.
Unless, of course, the local tinpot takes the money - then everyone is out - except Swiss bankers and the local Mercedes dealer.
