Mormons (LDS) Know More About Bible Than Other Christians
The Salt Lake Tribune ^ | 09/28/2010 | Peggy Fletcher Stack

Atheists and agnostics know more about major world religions than many people of faith, while Mormons can answer more Bible questions than their Catholic and mainline Protestant counterparts.

Those are among the somewhat startling conclusions about religious literacy in America the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion and Public Life drew after surveying 3,412 Americans.

Some of the multiple-choice questions were relatively simple: Where was Jesus born and who led the exodus from Egypt? What religion was Mother Teresa, what day does the Jewish Sabbath begin and what is the name of Islam’s holy book?

Others were more obscure: What is Indonesia’s dominant religion? Which Christians teach that salvation comes through faith alone?

About half the Protestants (53 percent) couldn’t correctly identify Martin Luther as the person whose writings and actions inspired the Protestant Reformation. Fewer than half of Americans (47 percent) knew the Dalai Lama is Buddhist and only 38 percent correctly associated Vishnu and Shiva with Hinduism.

John Morehead, director of the Western Institute for Intercultural Studies in Salt Lake City, had already noted religious illiteracy in the general population as well as in the evangelical community. But he did not expect Mormons to top them in their biblical fluency.

“Mormons tend to emphasize Mormon scriptures like the Book of Mormon rather than the Bible in their devotional life,” Morehead said in an e-mail.

Even some LDS scholars were surprised to find Mormons at the top.

To clarify then R, you are saying that the Lord changes His mind on key faith issues. Ok, got it that’s the lds view “God changes His mind”.

“those concepts are your problems AMPU take it up with the Lord”

No need to. He already spoke and he didn’t stutter.

He did not include any of this in His commands or
instructions to the Christian Church... in fact
His message is the opposite!

Polygamy
Polytheism
Temple Rituals
Sex-crazed eternally breeding gods
Harems of Heavenly Mothers eternally pregnant
False gospel of works
Becoming gods

So it is God who has a problem with what your
cult teaches - and God who delivered the faith
ONCE FOR ALL to the saints, without ANY of the
mormon heresies.

Not a one.

So, back at ya. I’ll go with God and His revelation
above the cultic one.

Still, you do have your feelings to fall back on...
“Oh, baby, my bosom is burnin’!”

SZ,
as a former mormon, you must know that there are not
answers.

Ultimately, after all the false chaff is winnowed out and
blown away, mormonism is a religious belief based on
subjective feelings.

Facts are completely unneeded.

Logic is unwelcome after the leaders have spoken.

Evidence, unnecessary.

And this despite the clear command to “Love the Lord Your God With ALL your Heart and Soul and MIND”

“Mormonism, no mind needed.”

Requirements: 1 bosom, willingness to pray for truth about things God has already told us the answers to, ability to suspend disbelief, logic, etc., desire to be a god. All done,
no doubt, with sincerity and lack of circumspection.

All that to say, there are no answers from mormonism.

None. Not even to God’s most basic revelation - that He
alone is God.

I pray for you, your wife, your son.

best,
ampu

The interpretation, and the cherry picking of which Scriptures to read and which to ignore is the art of using Scripture to deny Scripture.

Like THIS?

Galatians 1:8
If we or an Angel of Light preaches a DIFFERENT gospel...

The spirit of the Lord does not teach to argue or to be nasty or unkind when the spirit of the Lord contends it makes known the love and truth of the Lord by the power of the Holy Ghost and those who are of His fold are converted.

Galatians 5:12
As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

After the “quotation” the attacker will misrepresent what has been said or what was meant and then attack their own interpretation.

To me the Book of Mormon shows a good example how some parts of the New Testament was edited of plain and precious truth.
What you may not know is that Mormons believe Jesus is Jehovah or God of the Old Testament. That God is a vengeful God who destroy’s cities and populations because they are sinners. The Jesus of the New Testament is Jehovah who is born of the flesh. I am curious how the Mormons explain this...

I guess Jesus of the New Testament made a whip of cords and drove the money changers out of “His Father’s house” is an evidence of the old Jehovah coming out.

Z seem to ignore the previous 3 Nephi chapter 7

(The chief judge is murdered, the government is overthrown, and the people divide into tribes—Jacob, an antichrist, becomes king of a league of tribes—)

There is a different between the Sons of Perdition (SOP) and those who are fallen men!

5 Now all this was done, and there were no wars as yet among them; and all this iniquity had come upon the people abecause they did byield themselves unto the power of Satan.

6 And the regulations of the government were destroyed, because of the asecret combination of the friends and kindreds of those who murdered the prophets.

7 And they did cause a great contention in the land, insomuch that the more righteous part of the people had nearly all become wicked; yea, there were but few righteous men among them.

8 And thus six years had not passed away since the more part of the people had turned from their righteousness, like the dog to his avomit, or like the sow to her wallowing in the mire.
9 Now this secret combi
nation, which had brought so great iniquity upon the people, did gather themselves together, and did place at their head a man whom they did call Jacob;

10 And they did call him their king; therefore he became a king over this wicked band; and he was one of the chiefest who had given his voice against the prophets who testified of Jesus.

11 And it came to pass that they were not so strong in number as the tribes of the people, who were united together save it were their leaders did establish their laws, every one according to his tribe; nevertheless they were enemies; notwithstanding they were not a righteous people, yet they were united in the hatred of those who had entered into a covenant to adestroy the government.

12 Therefore, Jacob seeing that their enemies were more numerous than they, he being the king of the band, therefore he commanded his people that they should take their flight into the northernmost part of the land, and there build up unto themselves a akingdom, until they were joined by dissenters, (for he flattered them that there would be many dissenters) and they become sufficiently strong to contend with the tribes of the people; and they did so.

13 And so speedy was their march that it could not be impeded until they had gone forth out of the reach of the people. And thus ended the thirtieth year; and thus were the affairs of the people of Nephi.

14 And it came to pass in the *thirty and first year that they were divided into tribes, every man according to his family, kindred and friends; nevertheless they had come to an agreement that they would not go to war one with another; but they were not united as to their laws, and their manner of government, for they were established according to the minds of those who were their chiefs and their leaders. But they did establish very strict laws that one tribe should not trespass against another, insomuch that in some degree they had peace in the land; nevertheless, their hearts were turned from the Lord their God, and they did stone the aprophets and did cast them out from among them.

The feeble attempt at mind reading aside, you still haven’t answered the question(s). Which Christ?

A further question(s) could be asked; The BoM christ unleashed his fury on the BoM lands, but not the ME lands where there were plenty of opportunities to do so as well. Why not unleash that fury in the ME as well? Why did the ME (Biblical) folks get the “don’t be afraid”, “peace be upon you” Christ, while the BoM folks got smoked by the BoM christ?

Were there no “evil” people in the ME that deserved to be smote as well?
